I've had this mod for a year now, still one of the best interior mod you can do, and if you have a 2020 WRX/STi doing this mod allows you to wirelessly connect your CarPlay a MUST.
My parents bought an OG first day Subaru Legacy. Ever since then I've been a fan.
In Connecticut it seems every other person has a Subaru. They're sure-footed and comfortable.
Such a clean interior upgrade! I've always thought the subaru's head unit just isn't as fast or technically good as other car companies

I’d say get te’s and go back to the same wheel set up as the wrx. That wheel set up was just perfect for the car and since they look very similar it should also look good on the sti

The kicker speaker upgrade and head unit change was the best thing I ever did in my Subaru
I have the kicker set. Which model Idoing headunit did you buy? The HK model or the base model.

The head unit is nice! It’s good seeing you do interior mods too! Also! I love bags, but coilovers are DEFINITELY better choice! Plus less problems like popped bags, airlines etc.

Yo for sure keep the bags and go a silver wheel with a chrome lip. I feel white with the white brakes and front brace will be too much. Keep them more as a accent/feature

I work at Subaru in service, usually when it comes to your radio glitching or what you were saying. Your radio just needs an update for the most part.
How do you update it?
@chris_borges it'll be at the dealership, there is a USB that the dealership has and only they can update base on the USB.

My 2019 STI has the same exact touch screen/ Apple car play issues with the stock head unit. I figured out it has to do with the frequencies your cellphone emits while being too close to the head unit.
I bought the same exact AC vent phone mount from that brand and had to stop using it. Head unit and steering wheel volume controls never had anymore issues when I stopped mounting my phone there.

Best interior upgrade. I got the Daisata headunit which looks identical to the Idoing.
I still have no idea how subaru even installed the stock radio. It is so cramped you have literally no room to even squeeze your hand in.

Coils and track stance with the big tire is definitely the way to go. You'll worry WAY less....

Also all those up and down sliders are your equalizer, you have to really set that up to take advantage of the upgrade. It's set to dead even flat out of the box. Look up a video how to set up an eq.

Im not in to the stance style setup so my opinion is biased so for me the og set up was perfection :)
Bro you have to adjust the equalizer settings and the sound will be 10x better trust. If you want i can send you my settings
Watching u made me feel like a pro I installed the idoing in my wrx and I didn’t remove as much but I did cut my thumb so crazy smh blood everywhere 🤦🏽♂️ but it works so 🤷🏽♂️
My screen is having the same issues. Trying to buy this but the code doesn’t seem to work for the same unit.
I like the current set up but I think it would look dope on coil overs again and maybe a different wheel and tire set up like ne 24 or advan gt

Dang the way you have to take that out wild. In my 8th gen civic I just pop out the center and that’s it 😂. I think any upgraded head unit makes stock speakers a bit better cause mine sounded good, but then still had aftermarket speakers that I replaced all with as well while I did the head unit ahah. I think if you plan to add power pods or upgraded turbo to the STI, then bigger wheel and coils, but since you live in Cali and this like the 3rd time being state ref’d I’d say stay in bags and keep as is lol. Keep the frs as a track stance and add more power to it 😅

You'll want to use the GPS antenna and external mic for sure. The GPS because you don't need to use your phone that's the point of an android over a regular car play and the mic for calls. Without it you will sound horrible to the other person. The whole point of these head units is you can do anything on them you can do on a android phone or tablet. That's why the internet is helpful too. Honestly you don't ever need to use your phone other than for calls or text.

Hey I was wondering if your unit have problems with Bluetooth having to reconnect to your phone every time you get back into the car? I would have to reset my Bluetooth and then it’ll reconnect to my phone.
I have the idoing in my STI as well, much improved sound for sure. And yes as I commented before the silver mag blue combo was my favorite. The car just looked so mean. Maybe a TE or CE setup with a 255/265 for sure. What was the tire size with the mag blue grams?

Yoooo I thought it was just me with the buttons not randomly working! This is the next mod for sure. I even have the Harmon Kardon system in mine and it alright. Not as good as the one in my GF’s crosstrek who also has the Harmon Kardon.
Also I’m all for the coils and meaty tire set up! That’s just me though

Thanks for the video, the head unit looks sharp. Any idea if it can connect to more than one Bluetooth devices at a time (ie, your phone and another accessory)? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.
I say keep the bags, just sell the current wheels and run a wheel that doesn't force you to run so much camber 😉

I purchased a head unit and my car has the star link navigation box. I bought the base unit without the Harmon Kardon since I saw no badges on my car. The navigation unit does not fit on the bottom of my IDoing unit. Does this mean I got the wrong unit ?

You need a steering wheel control module and to wire it in to the car and to the aftermarket head unit in order to magically keep steering wheel controls .
