Honestly I don't think I would ever seriously game on a laptop, no matter how many lights and displays they build in. :D Desktop is just more comfortable and for the money you spend for a laptop for sure you can build a much better desktop PC. Besides you won't be tortured by a pretty small screen and a static keyboard.
I game only on custom built gaming PCs laptops have issues once you game past 4 or 5 hours. Thermals on laptops tend to over heat after about 3 hours of game-play.
I m a Proud owner of Rtx 3060Ti FE got within 2 weeks after the International launch at MSRP from Nvidia's site, Ryzen 7 3700x with 32GBs of Trident Z neo Ram 3600Mhz and Samsung Evo plus 1 TB ssd with Cool 2 mesh along with Galahad 240 AIO!!!!!!
I've got an Alienware laptop and I'm definitely sticking to gaming laptops since nowadays they me give more than enough the gaming experience I need. En plus, being able to take them with you and play wherever you like (cafe, airport, hotel room...) is simply priceless! And let’s not forget that allows you to work, communicate, learn and entertain yourself anywhere too.
@@solaireofastora1785 Even the laptops with decent cooling systems are still nowhere close to the cooling capabilities of a desktop. There's a reason why desktops stay at 50-65 degrees when playing intense games, and laptops are at 70-90. I myself am typing this comment on a laptop.
a desktop pc has been my dream ever since i was a kid. But current market prices for pc parts have skyrocketed so much that a rtx 3060 laptop is better value than a equivalent desktop pc
Same dude, I wish it wasn't so complicated, I just want a decent setup. It doesn't have to be too fancy but I don't want to pay $1500 and be disappointed because there's one component that is bottlenecking my experience.

I got a ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 RTX 3080 8GB 15.6" 300Hz FHD Gaming Laptop Computer, 8-Core AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (Beat i7-11370H), 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB PCIe SSD, RGB Keyboard. @@OxiCleansGaming its really an opinion! That said, in my personal experience, you can barely tell of any differences from gaming even dense games on laptop compared to a similar priced desktop. if any! Any of these new high end laptops can run any game butter-smooth. Now thats a fact!
@@larvitar2065 Opinion? No, it's entirely objective. It is a FACT that laptop GPUs have 70-80% of the power of a desktop GPU, whereas a laptop CPU only has 50-60% of the power of a desktop CPU! This all adds up to a 10-20% increase in performance on the desktop versus the laptop. Furthermore, these measurements compare identical GPUs (for example, Mobile GTX 1650 vs Desktop GTX 1650) and an equivalent CPU (i5 10300h vs i5 10300f). 1) There will be a difference, but only if the "similarly priced desktop" has the exact same GPU as the laptop, as well as a similar CPU. It would not be a "bare difference" but rather a significant margin.
@@OxiCleansGaming Significant margin in numbers! But again, in my opinion, you can barely see a difference in speed/quality looking at a high-end laptop and a high-end PC side by side. im sure you can agree with me on that, at least half-heartedly!😂
The thing is, a lot of people don’t want to put in the time and effort to research and build their own desktop, so even though you could get a much better computer for the money doing that, I think the convenient package of having something comparable in a laptop is a big selling point. For me it was the fact that I needed a good laptop for school, and my desktop at the time was getting really obsolete. I got a dell g5 15, it’s not the most powerful computer in the world but it’s a huge upgrade from my desktop and it can run literally anything. With some of the more demanding games you definitely wanna mess around with settings a bit, but I was seriously blown away by the performance. Gaming laptops are great for college students who can’t bring their desktop setup to the dorm and want to do pc gaming, because they can also do literally anything you could possibly need for school/work. And obviously they will never catch up to desktops with performance, but the performance of them has gotten so good at this point that it really doesn’t matter all that much. People are very picky with gaming PCs, they have to have the most expensive and fancy components and the highest possible specs, but you literally don’t need that to play the majority of games. At a certain point you’re just spending more money for more performance that you won’t even use. I think spending like $1000-$1500 on a nice gaming laptop is a great option for a lot of people
Where PC outperforms laptops (in many things) is overkill though. the difference in speed and quality is so minimal to the eye that you might as well buy the option that you can carry around and connect to any tv for better gaming experience
@Patrick Swan Yes I agree 3080 laptops just aren't good enough yet but they are slowly creeping up we already have kick ass 3070 laptops and yes the savings you get from using a laptop are substantial and laptops sell a lot better because there are always people that buy second hand laptops even if it's a few years older whereas if you try to sell a gpu or cpu or whatever it will be significantly harder.
@Patrick Swan I have an Asus tuf fx505du with ryzen 7 3750h, 16gb ram , gtx 1660ti, 120hz monitor, 500gb ssd and I'm really impressed with it, I know people say you can get a better desktop for cheaper but you really can't because when you buy a laptop you get a lot of things that you don't get with a desktop like a screen, speakers, webcam and mic, keyboard and trackpad and portability, you have to buy all that separately and it costs a lot more, I paid 950 dollars for my laptop and if I would have bought a desktop sure I could have gotten the same specs for let's say 850 dollars but when you add all the other things that you get with a laptop the price skyrockets to about 1350 dollars aprox ( and that's not counting the thermal paste, cpu cooler and a few extra fans and maybe wires to connect it all to the display and power, higher shipping cost for each part and the danger of the parts not being handled properly or even you making a mistake and mucking everything up ) and all of that for a measly 15% increase in performance ( the gtx 1660ti desktop is 15% better on average than the laptop 1660ti ) which in my opinion is totally not worth it. Another really important aspect that is never brought up is that yes pc parts are interchangeable and more powerful but they also break now I'm not saying that laptop components don't break but I have had to deal with a lot of power supplies and gpu's and cpu's that just stopped working whereas on a laptop everything is tested to oblivion and because the parts are not interchangeable they tend to last longer and don't break ( hell I've seen laptops that are 10+ years old and they still work despite not being cleaned once ).Another really important thing that I want to mention is that because a laptop is one item you can get at a discount and save some money whereas if you build a pc it is really unlikely that you are going to find all the parts at a discount ( maybe 2-3at best ). Now I'm not trying to say that desktops are worse than laptops far from it in fact I'm just trying to say that a laptop is always cheaper than a gaming pc and that there are a lot of pro's to laptops besides just being portable.
Used to be on the desktop, but I love my laptop and don't see myself going back to a desktop for PC gaming. I really enjoy the flexibility a gaming laptop provides.
Big facts. Wanna be able to get on my couch and load up gta. Hate going to my fucking desk in a hot ass room especially when my back hurts due to desk and chair issues
one thing to keep in mind is that, unless im mistaken, neither of these laptops have a mux switch, so optimus is always on. this affects cpu performance quite a bit.
One big point for me is power consumption. Desktop definitely performs way better, but when the graphics card alone draws more power than an entire laptop does I can't help but think of all those led lightbulbs we're using to save energy.
ALTHOUGH, this fact is offset by the fact that desktops have better thermals and upgradability. Once your laptop gets old, the last destination will be a land dump somewhere in asia. Also, all that heat ages the silica poorly causing it to drop in performance and value. Upgradability means your parts will run for a long time and better. If you care about the environment that much, you should consider the whole story.
@@lordunderbite upgrading to new parts still means the old ones will eventually end up as E-waste. Goes for both the laptop and pc parts so you're argument is invalid.
My current desktop is aging but it’s still serving me well. I am also interested in a laptop for mobility when I’m not able to be at my desk so these new laptops are more than enough for me.
TBH with this kind of crazy market the main take away from this video should be ''stay flexible'', don't ignore laptop/desktop option just because you prefer one over others, consider your local market price, and pick what make sense as a package instead of just considering individual part specs.
Personally, I think having both is the best way to go with. Gaming desktop when you are gaming at home, gaming laptop when you are gaming at school, at work, while camping, or travelling. So you can enjoy the best gaming performance and experience while you are at home, at the same time, having that portability to game everywhere you go. With this setup, it’s perfect for people who really like to game.
After many years of gaming, i really didn't like to play games on move. I like to play games on my comfortable space as home. I know most people are same too. So portability and gaming didn't really made sense to me.
Bought the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE about 2 months back and I absolutely love it, Understand that Desktops have more performance, but I have honestly yet to see a game that does not run extremely well on the Zephyrus. That and I take my laptop everywhere I go, love the portability, which honestly was my deciding factor.
i like the freedom to move around with my laptop around the house and not be locked to one place, unlees i want to move everything around each time. Laptop is just better for me. I do not need the top performance just acceptable is good enough. 60-90fps on high settings are more then enough.
I believe most people are on the move. Even heavy gamers, like myself, probably crave that portability as a sacrifice for performance. You can bring your machine anywhere, especially if you often travel (again, like me), and make use of that portability.
I take the laptop. Portability is a big deal. Sure it would be nice to play in a 4k 144hz monitor but not as nice as being able to play anywhere in 1080p with a decent framerate, you are not losing that much
After testing I decided to return my asus zephyrus duo 15 SE in the end cos of lack of mux switch which bottlenecked gaming performance, and shadowplay , lag issues and 5900HX suprisingly dissapointed with video export time. I decided to get MSI GE 76 Raider instead even when I already have pc with 5950x and 3090 which I built myself cos I love multitasking
@Kroepoek if he wants mobility then he would by a thin and light not a ge76. Also hes complaining about frame rate eventhough he has an rtx 3090 pc. Like tf nobody games in like a cafe with airplane fans
I have been looking for laptops & narrowed it down to a Ryzen 5 & MSi Intel gaming laptops. After watching your demonstrations on performance comparisons I'm now going to be looking at the desktops. Specifically due to much better Cooling & Long-term Reliability.
This deals more or so with your lifestyle man, and I respect any decision. People buy laptops because they travel a lot and other factors, while desktops are generally for people at home. But I prefer to stick with gaming desktops.
My biggest issue is I'm going to be moving homes frequently, and don't have a real desk area/setup nor the space for one atm which makes it tough to commit to a pc setup....and the worst part is even a 'high quality' laptop gets you 4-5yrs while the PC will give you 5-7+upgrades down the road. I don't have 2k to throw out every 4-5 years
I've built my own PCs for decades, but my last one blew up and I honestly could not figure out what was wrong with it. I figured I'd get a gaming laptop to hold me over until I could build a new one. Despite having a 2070, the gaming laptop was about equal to my 6 year old desktop which had a 1070. The only way to make it faster was to turn on the "turbo" mode which made it sound like a blow dryer and was intolerable. Even then, it was maybe 15% faster. Never going with another gaming laptop after this. Just not worth the compromises. I like being able to customize, change out cooling, swap parts, upgrade, etc. A gaming laptop is like having a fast mid-level BMW, but a gaming desktop is like having a Dodge Demon that you can add another 500 hp to if you want.
Wait till Black Friday and which ever one is on sale for $1000. Get that. Last time at Best Buy it was the Predator Helios 300 which is usually $1,500. It’s what I have. I get 400 fps in CSGO. Not that I can actually feel it in game but yeah it’s a powerful laptop for $1000.
In the current climate, laptops are surprisingly better value in that ~$1500 range. Getting (power) equivalent components, plus accessories, plus a high refresh rate, color accurate, low latency monitor will actually be *more expensive.* And then, it's not portable.
I would always go for a maxed out desktop gaming PC if I was considering a rig. Laptops just compromise too much, and portability isn’t important for me in the context of gaming
@@migegg7067 Well, it depends if gaming is fun for you while traveling and how you travel (and how often). Most people like the *idea* of gaming "on the go" but the reality is that they actually rarely do it. I drive a lot myself and most trips aren't long anyways. When I go by train it's usually for work, so I am either doing work stuff or circumstances don't allow for gaming (other people, me being too tired etc). I actually have a PiZero 2 in a GPIcase, a retro emulator in Game Boy format, but even when I play this I usually get bored after less than half an hour since I'm just not at a proper monitor with proper mouse/Kkeyboard or gamepad. So the rest of mobile gaming opportunities would be holidays, weekends at my parents' house or some couch gaming evening with friends. But after trying this with a laptop (at my skiing trips with a friend) I quickly discovered that even there I am happier to take a strong MiniITX-PC for gaming at the TV while using laptops/tablets only for browsing, viewing some youtube or simply communication. Gaming on a laptop just isn't really worth spending extra money for me and I'd guess it's the same for 90% of gamers, too - if they honestly assess their usage.
@@XulThanks for posting this. I've been on the fence about trading my gaming PC to a friend for his gaming laptop. His machine is quite a powerful one - Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 w/ AMD 5900HX CPU and 3080 16GB version GPU, while my gaming desktop is also somewhat on par except I have a ASUS TUF 3060 Ti and AMD Ryzen 7 3700x -- all my other components are pretty good, too. But -- I ask the question if I do take it on travel(for work or personal), how often will I actually be gaming? Me, personally, if I am traveling out of state, I'd spend my free time exploring and being out, but to each their own. I get everyones situation and personal preference is different. Cheers.
I have no space in my room either. So I can keep my desktop in my living room but I won't be able to record videos cause do the noise. I need to buy a laptop. :(
I live in Asia and I found that it is close to impossible to get a pc with similar specs as a laptop for the same amount of price. Usually, they just cost around 500 USD more and I don't think it's worth it which is why I'm going with laptops.
The only reason I'd like a desktop is its more powerful and you can just change parts to upgrade. Though you cant bring it anywhere and im sharing a room so theres like no space for it
A decent card costs 700 dollars and good one costs 1300 in the US. I can buy a laptop with a decent card(2060) for 1100. No Brainer. The gpu situation has made the meme about pc gaming a reality. It is officially too expensive and not worth it to build a pc in April 2021.
I had a Dell Gaming laptop for a couple of years. It had more issues with it than any PC I had built myself over the years. So I think nowadays, if I could afford it, I would build myself a gaming rig that could at least do decent 1080p gaming.
-Only disadvantage with desktop will always be portability, -Laptops have grown but thermal issues and Gpu upgrade-ability are the only thing holding them back. -If u are mobile go laptop if u prefer high-end hardware, upgradeability and portability ain't a priority go desktop. -If money ain't an issue go both🤑💸💻🖥️💵😂😂😂
@@infinite_xiao5483 $1500 was just an example to point out the fact that parts for a PC, whether its just the graphics card or also other new parts you'd need to upgrade eventually, cost almost as much as or more than a new gaming laptop. Funny enough, I was researching last night about an equal PC to my laptop (MSI GF75 Thin 9SC), because I wanted upgradeability and reliability. However, last night I wanted to watch a movie while gaming and... I just brought my laptop with me, I couldn't do that with a PC lol so I'm sticking to my laptop for 4 years. I could then sell it or recycle it
Came across your channel by chance. Been binge watching your vids as I was looking for advice and reviews on which to get, laptop and dekstop. This review answered alot of those questions. Thx. Subscribed
I went with the laptop. I tend to travel a lot during the holidays specially and I'm still a console gamer so a desktop didn't make any sense to me. I respect the raw power but it's overall an inconvenience to me.
Nope, it's just the GPU price hikes which will go down in a year. Desktops are cheaper than laptops with even better performance. If UDC about portability then just go for a desktop
The problem with the Pc Desktop is that , at the beginning its very fun to build and run , but after a while you just think its a big box that you dont need it any more because its too big and looks ugly. its 2021 and you want something smaller , rather then bigger.
After several years of running laptops, I built a desktop again when the Ryzen 2000 chips came out. I got tired of not being able to upgrade anything - these days that even includes RAM. I DO lose portability ... so I still have an older (i5-6200U with an SSD) laptop for on the road. It's the best compromise for me. My wife is strictly in the laptop camp. She almost never uses a laptop AS a laptop (IE: takes it anywhere) but wants to be able to if she gets the urge. So we're looking at getting her some kind of 'budget' gaming laptop. Maybe in that $1200-$1500 range. Sometimes I just need the extra grunt of a desktop. It would be even better if I could upgrade my ancient GTX 760 ... but that ain't happening any time soon in this market! Was looking at buying a pre-built desktop JUST to rip the GPU out of it ... cheaper than the scalpers, and I still have a mostly usable 2nd desktop out of the deal. LOL
Quick answer Gaming laptop - portability+gaming+actual work like 3d rendering Pc - full power+gaming+actual work like 3d rendering Console- just gaming+cheap
Definitely go with a laptop. The power they are offering right now is more than enough to enjoy any games in the market right now at decent experience. The most important thing is you can take it wherever you want to. Before this Covid situation, i and my peers, we go to a coffee shop or just hang at house of anyone in the team to play game together, it's great to have companions to play game with.
I would say a laptop would be way better - it is much more portable and allows you to use it in bed, on the couch, at a hotel, traveling- whatever. Another big factor is that you can basically use it as a desktop too - just get an hdmi cable, a monitor, and an external keyboard and mouse, along with a usb splitter for any extra needed slots.
i think it depends on the person. I have a laptop now but a desktop would suit me more because I dont travel alot so portability isnt an issue for me. A desktop is probably better long term aswell
Honestly, I am rocking a 2020 nitro 5 laptop, with a 9th Gen - core i5, a GTX 1650 and 16GB or ram. It's a mid range to low mid range machine, and It does struggle to keep cool oftenly (most of the games making it surpass 90 degrees celsius). If I had the choice, I would have gone for a desktop (maybe an i5 - 10th Gen, GTX 1660ti and 16GB or ram, which is a high mid range machine surpassing many high end gaming laptops). Unfortunately I don't have this option, because I live in one end of the country and study is the complete opposite end and with these quarantines, I can't stay In one city for more than 3 months, without having to move again, so I do have to stick to a laptop, for portability sake. (Don't get me wrong, the gaming experience is still good, it's just not great. I oftenly either have to play with 35 - 45fps on average for most AAA games on ultra settings, or bring the settings down to low or mid, in order to bring the fps to 60 - 70 or more)
I got the ROG Flow X13 Supernova Ed. 1 week ago and love it! I replaced my 10 year old desktop pc with it and run it now on the 49" Samsung Odyssey G9, I also use it as a laptop and tablet, it's unbelievable lol.
If you need to be able to play on the go and are ok sacrificing noise levels, performance, etc. a gaming laptop can be a good compromise. I wouldn’t want to replace my desktop PC with one though, they just can’t perform on the same level as desktop hardware and wattages. Ideally they are complimentary though, not an either-or. You have the same game library shared across both and with cloud saves you can pick up and play on whichever you want to at the time.
Well, idts USA and UK are the only countries in the world I got my entire pc for 800$ and it just cost me 150$ for the monitor and 70$ for peripherals.(Razer mousepad, desk, monitor, laptop stand, monitor, keyboard and some decorative plants) It still outperforms my brother's gaming laptop which has the same specs by 3 times. There's no need to be hurt that everyone has different conviences. Like i can't use my desktop for college.
Most gaming laptops don't have good batteries anyway. Your gaming sessions are gonna be plugged in 90% of the time. So unless you really need the portability for something else (like work and etc) you should probably just get a desktop.
for the current price of just the GPU you can buy TWO decent laptops ( I'm talking lenovo legion 5 series or an MSI laptop) .I have some experience in IT and it's the first time in decades I advise friends to buy laptop instead of desktop. Even prebuilts are ridiculously priced just because of the GPU. And this won't be solved in mere months ,it will take years ...
I’ve been building PCs for the past 8 years, they are more powerful, nice to build and cheaper But for now on I guess I will move to laptops, simply people like me now just don’t have the time and the mood to collect the parts then builds them specially if it’s costume water loop or SFF system. Beside that the laptops are getting way more powerful with interesting options.
The lower tier laptop GPU's like the 3060 are much closer performance wise to their desktop variants. The TDP is just much more comparable in both machines. Mux switches also improve performance by about 15% on laptops. On top of that the lower end GPUs are massively overpriced right now compared to the laptop equivalents. Which makes choosing between either a much harder thing to do. Also consider the lower resolution: 1080p on a laptop is just fine on a 15 inch screen, while anything below 1440p makes my eyes bleed on a 27 inch screen.
I love desktops but due to covid I just upgraded to the cheapest rtx 2060 laptop I could find and I'm seriously impressed. Yes its a Gateway but Its so worth it if you can get the right deal and do the proper research. Upgraded from a ryzen 5 1600 with a 1660ti to an i5 10300h and a 115w 2060. There are maybe 3 games that perform worse on this new laptop and it draws half the power from the wall then the old pc. Plus has 3 video outputs not including the screen. That was my 2nd reason for choosing it. Also Bios is unlocked so you can Disable optimus and just use the dedicated gpu. Frees up more power for the cpu and gpu. Also can undervolt. This is more of a budget gamers opinion of the situation but Laptops in 2021 are the only good way to get a great pc without the whole price hikes. Plus payed less than 600 for this thing! Cant find any Gpu worth buying for that price. Love your content! Keep up the good work!
I discovered cloud gaming on my Note 20 ultra and went and got a Thermaltake Arctic i360 w a Odyssey g7 and I game do my graphics and illustrations and not a laptop person it's the design that doesn't work but a hand-held sits right on my paintings as reference and the paint cleans off real good. I'm learning to customize and build.
One of the most annoying drawbacks I'm finding at the moment is the lack of suitable vr ports on otherwise we'll specced and priced laptops i.e thunderbolt
@@hafiyanas I got it because of portability and such i used to have a desktop pc. It’s alittle less powerful than a desk top 3060ti but it will put a lot of desk top pcs to shame. Crazy how far gaming pcs have come
@Ehsan GT of course. The only thing that makes it a gaming laptop is because of its graphics card and cpu. That’s why i like laptops over desk tops now cause you can take it with you wherever. It’s quiet even when i run heavy gpu based games so it for sure would be quiet when you’re doing work and school stuff. But if you’re only looking for a laptop for school and work i wouldn’t recommend any of these only because they are pricey and you can find like a macbook for work and school stuff for under 500$ but if you tryna ball out and play games and do everything you need then this is it.
@Ehsan GT The only cons i can say since owning one is you should shovel an extra 50$ for a decent cooling pad cause they do run hot when playing games. Also they aren’t really upgradable but by the time you would wanna even upgrade the pc i have you’d just buy a new and improved one cause the one i got will still out perform the majority of the competition for years.
@@hafiyanas g15 is hot garbage. I just returned mine and upgraded to a hp omen 17”. And yes it’s a huuuuuge upgrade of the g15 with the held back 3070. List of issues with my g15 include 1 dead pixel and 3 stuck pixels. And horrible back light bleed. Not a huge deal breaker but the omen 17” has no dead pixels and the best with no back light bleed I’ve ever seen. My 34gn850 and my aorus f127q has more back light bleed over the omen. The next issue is the exhaust fans blowing directly onto the screen. Caused my bezel on the lower right to warp and was putting pressure on the screen like you see when you press on the screen. I knew it was going to be a issue the day I got it and I was right. Next issue is that when ever I plug in an external monitor it froze up the entire system. Had to hold the power button to get it unfrozen. And the g15 has no mux switch so if you want more of the little bit of power it offers to the 3070 you have to plug it into a monitor. The omen has a mix switch and one the of highest rated 3070’s in a laptop. 140w. I’m hwinfo64 I’ve gotten mine up to 153w constant. It’s a beast of a laptop the omen is. And another issue my g15 had was the key caps started chipping away on the paint on the wsd keys. Wasn’t even that old and i wore out the keys. Use a keyboard half of the time and it still happened. Luckily the omen has better key caps and actual mechanical switches that are so crisp and nice to press down with addressable rgb in every key. Another issue is that my fans would get locked at 100% out of no where on start up. And they would stay there no matter what until I shut it down and wait a little then start it back up and hope the fans would disengage. The temps were all good and they should of been with the fans at 100%, the omen has better cooling with its bigger chassis and whiter fans. They push a ton of air through the rear vents that aren’t blowing directly onto the screen. I haven’t had a single issue with my omen “knock on wood” and the g15 I had big issues from day one. Reinstalled windows 10 2 times and went to windows 11 which did Give less issues but didn’t fix it. Best buy luckily has a good warranty and I returned it and got back 100%. Lucky me because for the exact same price I got a bigger / better cooling / more powerful / with better features like a mux switch. Just if you haven’t already hood off until the 12th gen officially release and get your self a beat if a laptop and be good for a long time!
I'm kinda in the middle of the very spot in my life where I'll have to travel a lot, between my house, my university, my internship and future jobs and places to go. So I would prefer the more portable way to go, which is a gaming laptop, where I can do everything from programming to video editing to gaming with high enough quality to not feel behind the current tech available. Which I kinda feel right now with my 6GB of RAM + 1TB HDD + Intel i5 + Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M + 1600×900 screen. No SSD, not even 8GB of RAM, not even an i7 for what I'm doing, not even a Ti GPU and not even a Full HD screen. :(
Definitely a gaming laptop cause it’s the most easiest to bring with whenever your on a trip plus pc stuff is just too complicated like I wouldn’t know if there is a problem with my pc or something like that but gaming laptop it’s easy cause it’s not very complicated and I can tell more easily if it has a problem.
Said it before and I’ll say it again, sffpc fits in a backpack with all peripherals and portable monitor. Desktop performance in a backpack; use a desk at home and take it with you for LAN parties. Best of both worlds.
I personally prefer laptops, but I do want to get into streaming and gaming. I might replace the laptops I have now and get both a desktop and a laptop once I get money for it.
Got Asus TUF f15 laptop , 3070, core i7, 2 TB nvme, and 8 + 32 GB RAM .. I use an external monitor, and I play games on ultra settings, it works like a charm.

Gotta say gaming laptops are really good these days I have a 2019 asus gaming laptop and I really don't want to get back to using desktops.
@Patrick SwanExactly you get so much more with a laptop and a lot cheaper too nice to see someone sees things my way cheers mate !
@Patrick Swan what laptop have you got mate? I'm looking at buying one but no sure what to get your specs for that price sound great

one thing to keep in mind is that, unless im mistaken, neither of these laptops have a mux switch, so optimus is always on. this affects cpu performance quite a bit.

Yes, i rather have a good looking laptop than a ugly powerful laptop

Thing is there are barely any budget GPUs on sale and a lot of budget gaming laptops so yh....
Great point
Both, one at home & one for travel (not that there's lot of that)
My biggest issue is I'm going to be moving homes frequently, and don't have a real desk area/setup nor the space for one atm which makes it tough to commit to a pc setup....and the worst part is even a 'high quality' laptop gets you 4-5yrs while the PC will give you 5-7+upgrades down the road.
Get Both: its so worth it if you can afford it! good video.
Now's a better time to buy laptops thanks to the rise of desktop part prices
I would always go for a maxed out desktop gaming PC if I was considering a rig. Laptops just compromise too much, and portability isn’t important for me in the context of gaming
Would it be ok to get a gaming laptop if you already have a desktop so you can game while traveling?
But -- I ask the question if I do take it on travel(for work or personal), how often will I actually be gaming? The most important thing is you can take it wherever you want to. Before this Covid situation, i and my peers, we go to a coffee shop or just hang at house of anyone in the team to play game together, it's great to have companions to play game with.
I would say a laptop would be way better - it is much more portable and allows you to use it in bed, on the couch, at a hotel, traveling- whatever. Another big factor is that you can basically use it as a desktop too - just get an hdmi cable, a monitor, and an external keyboard and mouse, along with a usb splitter for any extra needed slots.

I have 3 houses, so I need to be able to game in all of them. This is why for my unique situation, I have 3 desktops.
i think it depends on the person.

And the desktop gpus are in 2021 too expensive
Well, idts USA and UK are the only countries in the world
I got my entire pc for 800$ and it just cost me 150$ for the monitor and 70$ for peripherals.(Razer mousepad, desk, monitor, laptop stand, monitor, keyboard and some decorative plants)
It still outperforms my brother's gaming laptop which has the same specs by 3 times.
You do realize you can take the power cable with you, right? LOL, It's still infinitely more portable than a desktop PC.
for the current price of just the GPU you can buy TWO decent laptops ( I'm talking lenovo legion 5 series or an MSI laptop) .I have some experience in IT and it's the first time in decades I advise friends to buy laptop instead of desktop. Even prebuilts are ridiculously priced just because of the GPU. And this won't be solved in mere months ,it will take years ...
So I found a gaming desktop with a i5 and a1660 for $900 but I found a laptop that had the same specs but was $750 what’s more worth it ?
I choose to have a desktop for gaming however the GUP is super crazy expensive now. :/
i am more of a gaming laptop user since i am constantly traveling at the moment. but i ma imagining my self building a gaming pc in the near future
I’ve been building PCs for the past 8 years, they are more powerful, nice to build and cheaper
But for now on I guess I will move to laptops, simply people like me now just don’t have the time and the mood to collect the parts then builds them specially if it’s costume water loop or SFF system.
Beside that the laptops are getting way more powerful with interesting options.
Thanks for this topic.
I am just waiting for the Legion 5 Pro to come out and I will probably snack one
Same.
The joy a laptop can provide while taking a dump is indescribable.
Definitely cpus for me. No need for considerations about batteries, I don't need to bring my laptop with me where I go, and I can replace parts later.
Right now the price of a high end gpu is practically the same as a high end gaming laptop. The choice is clear.
Why are you not including the price of the monitor in the total price of a desktop??
1440p 165hz cost 250
Nobody ever does it’s unfair imo
You have my sub for life great job
What do you think about asus tuf A15 FA505QR? RTX 3070 combined with AMD ryzen 7 5800H....seems very good!
Tuf has really bad cooling design plus with the 3070 it will get extremely hot bad idea
Gaming pcs are more expensive because you need a monitor keyboard and mouse and then it will be more expensive but you do get a bit more performance
love my G15 laptop with the 3070. A lot of my friends with desk top pcs can’t believe how powerful it is
G15 and pc which one do you recommend? Is G15 alone is better than pc?
I mean, I'd like to evolve into the PC Master race... I fear this may be my only chance at this rate! 😂 I need some Gleam luck!
Laptop alone is enough to game and stream at 144fps
Love that this is a UK giveaway. I really hope I win, but if I don't congratulations to the winner.
I'm in the market for a new PC/laptop so this video has been a great help, thanks.
depending where you live in the world PC parts are hard to find especial with Covid🙃
Got Asus TUF f15 laptop , 3070, core i7, 2 TB nvme, and 8 + 32 GB RAM .. I use an external monitor, and I play games on ultra settings, it works like a charm.
