Hey folks! Today I made a festive black forest trifle! A lovely take on a traditional trifle but with all the black forrest flavours!
Everything I used will be listed below.

Makes enough for 6-8 people
Chocolatey Custard layer -
150g (5 oz) Dark chocolate, broken into all bits
500ml (17 floz) Vanilla custard - Home made is best, but ready made is just as delicious :)
Cream layer -
600ml (20 floz) Double, whipping or heavy cream
3 Tablespoons icing sugar
1/2 Teaspoon almond flavouring (optional)
The Cakey Layer -
2 Small Swiss rolls or chocolate cake of your choice
6-8 Tablespoons of Kirsch (optional) or similar cherry liquor
Other things you’ll need -
500g (15 oz) Cherries in Kirsch, cherries in syrup or canned cherries
A Few fresh cherries to decorate - optional
200g (7 oz) Cherry jam
30g (1 oz) Chocolate of your choice - I cut up a Cadburys flake bar :)
200g (5oz) Whipped cream for the top - completely optional!
Chocolate sprinkles

Ooh I want to try this this year! I have a beautiful ombre gold speckled footed trifle bowl too, it's going to look stellar! I'll have to get the father in law's opinion first though, because I make my trifle for him too, he loves it!
very nice, and very much! that's all my desserts for a year ;-) it looks fabulous. I make my tiramisu with a custard cream instead of mascarpone cream as my italian neighbour taught me...i think it might be nice as a trifle too..tiramisu trifle i mean

my wife makes a really good Black Forest Trifle. chocolate cake and cherry jello with rum cherries (remove liquid only from store bought jar of cherries, fill with rum). white chocolate pudding then cool whip on top. keep the cherry rum and have a drink while making it.
Oh yes! That is dessert sorted for Xmas day 😁 🙌🏻
I might need to have another crack at this one. I made a great big one a few years ago for a Christmas function for a group I’m a member of. Unfortunately I never got to try it as I had an unexpected wee trip to hospital. But by all accounts it was very well received and nothing left. Thanks for this, and all the best to you and yours for Christmas and Hogmanay 💚

I remember one of my mother’s bosses was a cake maker on the side and mam would order a Black Forest gateaux and I tell you, no comparison. This I will bet ,is no different. Spectacular video,congratulations 🥰 xx

I really wish custard was readily a available over here in the US. Pudding is available every where but it's not the same as a custard.

@Jean Walker • Custard may be seasonal. Check with your store manager. My local grocery store has added items over the years when I've spoken to the manager & not just left a suggestion.

Oh, my. This looks delicious and I have some Luxardo cherries that have been sitting in the cupboard for quite some time that I need to use. Our dessert is planned for Thanksgiving but I see this in our future.
