Lyrics:
You better love somebody
It's late
You better love somebody
Don't wait
You better love somebody
Don't tempt fate
You're gonna push it just a little too far
One night
It’s 2023 who’s still listening to Rick Springfield Love Somebody
80’s music will forever live.

in 2024 still
I am, because I love to listen to Casey Kadem on Sundays and songs like this pop up and I have to go watch the video on UA-cam. Still love Rick Springfield.
This song should've been a number 1 hit on the pop charts. It's a great song.
I think so, too
OH HELL YEAH.
Amen!!
I had thought it was. Even if “Hard to Hold” bombed, the soundtrack sold well.

THE EIGHTIES WOULD OF NEVER SOUNDED SO GOOD IF IT WASNT FOR YOU RICK SPRINGFIELD....IT WAS ALL YOU😇❤
Hello Ronda!
I love Rick but there so many great artists in the 80's that made that decade the best just happy he was part of it one of my fav
Been listening to his music since 1981 This is my all time favorite one. Thank you Rick for keep us entertained..
I miss the eighties everything was so different you felt like the world was at your feet

Me too. In 2025 and forever...
😊❤love this man!
Nobody
what an amazing era. Life was so chilled out back then, , No Cell Phones, No laptops/ ipads, No internet, No Social media, No security threats, Only real fun. Growing up listening to such songs was the best time ever. Missing those days big time.
Me too. Miss the 70's and 80's so much(i m born 1965),everything was so freakin calm and easy back then. Good music by REAL musicans.!!
I agree with you. Best years of my life.
Life was so chill when all we had to worry about was lead paint and chemical sprays and mutually assured destruction.
And we are better for it!!!
I’m 21 wish I lived to see the 80s
This man should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
I agree. He is very famous and I hope I get to see him perform live on stage in Summer festival this year so I can get his autograph if he isn't very busy.
I thought he was
Agreed.
David Smith agreed
Just got to watch him perform a public festival concert in my town!!! He was amazing!
Keep fighting the depression, Rick. Don't surrender. Don't give up.
He’s. Definitely. A. Big. Part. Of. The. 80 s
I'm 55 and actually saw Rick a few years ago. One of the best concerts ever! He can so rock with his newer music! I love that when he sang his old music he played videos from way back and even footage from General Hospital. We had awesome seats and I loved it. I don't usually buy T-shirts after but this was a no-brainer. This was one of the best experiences ever and I'm so glad he's going strong. I had such a crush on him when I was barely a teenager.
He was the quintessential rock star
I bet you married a guy named Jesse too. Liked the story...
Please send me back to the 80s....get me outta of 2019.
I don't miss waiting hours for the good videos. Give me youtube, DVR, streaming. Now is better. We still have everything from then. On demand.
Can I come with you?
Lol I hate 2019
Afrigginmen
I love the 80 and 90
Rick Springfield was Hard to Hold Summertime 1984 for us! Miss those Radio Boom Box Hits!
You want to talk? OK. Let's figure out a way to do it.
Happy Birthday Rick!
After all these years, Rick is still the prototype for the 1980s rock star in my mind.
Mine too
Amen
You misspelled, John Cougar.
MUCH better than Bon Jovi, IMHO
Damn right!
I was 15 when this song came out. I listened to Ricks music all through high school. Just saw him in Feb. of 2016 in Harris Michigan. He never missed a lick on guitar or vocals. He sounded just as good as when I was in high school. Great show and music. Brought back lots of memories!
Bless his heart may hey live to be 100
I saw him in Michigan a few times myself and he never sounded better!!
This rick at his peak in his thirties.
He is one of the best looking men to ever live. He still makes me jump. He is so incredibly handsome. Great music too!
I think so too
@@annemarieclaudia hell yeah!!
Gorgeous!
True that sista
This guy can really sing.
It should be a crime to be this handsome. No wonder he landed on General Hospital. And in his 70s, he's still beautiful and rocking on!
My God do I miss the 80's.
The Best Song RS Ever Recorded
Hello Donnie!
This song is almost 40 years old. I was 23 years old and in the US Air Force when this came out. Now I'm 62 after a wonderful, exciting and successful life that allowed me to retire at 48 years old. As I sit here smoking a cigar and sipping some fine single malt, I'm still rockin' and cherishing all those memories of 1984. It's been a heck of a ride!
Thanks for your service and keep rocking
You could be my brother.
With all of the sadness and despair in the world, this comment made me happy. Good for you and I hope you continue to cherish your blessings!❤
@@Megan-1014 Thank you so much Megan! Yes true happiness these days comes in small doses for many. I wish you all the best in this holiday season and for an even better 2024! 🥰
@@garylowe2127 I thought my previous response went through but apparently not . . Thank you Gary have a wonderful holiday season and even better 2024!
This is one of my favorite Rick Springfield songs!! Why can't there be more like this?
I met Rick Springfield in the early 1990s in Laughlin. I was there with friends and we sat at the bar for over an hour drinking with him and laughing til he had to go for a show in Vegas. Nice guy sign autographs and we bought he quite a few drinks. He appreciated we were all Veterans.
Aaggh, I am so insanely jealous 😫!! Seriously though, I'm so glad you got to have that experience, it sounds so exciting!
💖🕊️
He did many tours in Vietnam in the early 70s
This is Rick's best song if you ask me, extremely underrated singer, SONGWRITER and guitarist he was and still is.
Hello Laura!
Sounds like "Born To Run" by The Boss.
I THINK ITS HIS BEST.
Very underated.
No his best is zoot, he was a rock guitar god, this is just fluff candy and he was just writing to make his, his original work in zoot is way better
The guys sure HARD TO HOLD❤
I just have to thank Rick Springfield for making this song. When I am on the treadmill and am getting tired, this song comes on my playlist and all of a sudden my energy level goes through the roof!
Hello Jennifer!
That's because music was happy then and added to our lives. Great post!!
Is that an actual treadmill or a metaphoric one?😅
Reminds me when I was in highschool : I was..... 14 and today I'm 54 and still love that song !!!.... By the way I'm French and I used to leave in Irving Texas when I was young !.....
Hey I'm french too and I lived in Boise Idaho from 1975 To 1986 then I came back To France ! And I love Rick Springfield ❤❤❤ bonjour de Bordeaux 😉😉😉🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
@@corinnechevreux9304 hello from Cannes ! I was 14 to !.... Long Time ago now !😁🎸🎸
I miss the States so much but most of my family lives in France I have cousins in Boise ID but haven't been there since 1992! Le bonjour au Cannois et Cannoises of course😉😉
@@corinnechevreux9304 got 1 brother living in Chicago and a syster in Florida ; So we go there at least once or twice a year . Have a good day in Bordeaux et belle balade sur les quais ensoleillés !👍👍☀️☀️
It's funny we both speak fluent French but we write in english( I think english is easier than french) have a great day on the French Riviera !😉😉🇺🇸🇺🇸🇫🇷🇫🇷
This song is the reason my kids watched me freak when Vince Vicente showed up on Supernatural. Loved this song. Loved Rick just like anyone with eyes or ears did in the 80's. Watching him on the tv screen again made me so happy & very nostalgic.
When he lifts his leg while playing the guitar…..WOW 😍

As great as Jessie's Girl is, I would sure love to catch songs like this more on the radio today. You'd think that Rick only had one hit and NOTHING could be further from the truth. He had many Top 40 hits. "Love Somebody" went all the way to #5 on the charts.
His greatest hits album is so good!!
Same can be said for Kansas. All they ever do is play is Carry on Wayward Son and act as if they had no other hit songs. Would love it if they played some of his other hit songs like Love Somebody, Souls, and Don't Talk to Strangers.
He was and is great artist
People who think "Jessie's Girl" is Rick's only song probably weren't around in the 80's.
Rick had a lot of great songs. "State of the Heart" is my personal favorite, but this song, "Don't Talk to Strangers," "I've Done Everything for You," and "Affair of the Heart" are all great. And then there's "Bruce," which not only rocks, it's also really funny.
@@Klingonmastr 'Dust in the wind' perhaps? 👍
11 year old me rocked out to this...and 50 year moi still does😁
36 (almost 37) and started rocking to it when I was 14 in 99
54 year old me still listens to him, admits he saw him in concert, and just saw the video for the 40th anniversary of Jessies girl a few days ago.

Abrazos desde Chile!
That solo!!! the amazing Mr Tim Pierce
I grew up in the 1980s from age 9 to age 19. If I had known that the future would have been so lame I would've enjoyed the 80s a lot more than I did. It was truly the greatest decade.
Right?! I feel like I didn't realize it's awesomeness at the time, but looking back now....sigh.
Woa woa woah☺️🌹
Happy Birthday Rick! God bless you!!
U still make me feel like I'm 23.........can't thank u enuf foreva youngman xxxxxxxx

This AWESOME time in the 80's when MTV ruled the airwaves with great videos like this will never be duplicated again. We were lucky to be alive.
I saw him in live in Copenhagen in 1985 and this still is one of my favourite songs ever
Hello beautiful
underrated singer
not an underrated singer at all
which really means nothing. lol
no hes not!!
Sanz80 he has been rated correctly
I agree Sanz80. I don't think Rick ever really got the credit he deserved. He was awesome in his prime!
This is such a great song ❤🥰👍 heavy drums, hungry guitars, soulfully lyrics and a great voice 😊 you've all done right! Love it 😊 👍 🥰
Rick Springfield was my first concert I was 15 years old. Loved him then and love him still today. Sad the teenagers now have no idea what good music is.
What a great first concert!!! I would LOVE to see him even today 😍

I think this is one of his best songs. He's got Just that kind of voice that you can get lost in.
@Rlck-LewisSpringfieId that would be great. I'll save your number.
MY FAVORITE RICK SPRINGFIELD SONG!!!
I saw Rick in concert .. he is great and fun to watch!
Man, that guitar break...they don't do that in modern music.
Going to see him Sunday!
What a sexy voice he has ! I remember this days. People call this days " Glory Days !"
he was the hottest guy in the eighty's
I was so involved with him
He still is!
Take me back to the 80 Rick Springfield oh yeah
Off to see Rick in a private backyard concert tonight!
I was a kid in grade school in the 80s and there was a show on NBC called Friday Night Videos that my mom always watched and I got to stay up late and watch it with her so even though I was young, I knew a lot of the 80s music. Now that she's gone, I hear 80s music and it brings back great memories of her and watching that show and listening to records with her.
Hello Randall!
I absolutely enjoyed watching the music videos that were the best thing back in that era❤❤ I also use to watch general hospital just to see Rick Springfield. God bless you and keep you always amen 😇❤

Great song and video 😊 it certainly isnt boring 👍🎊
Phoenix partied like it was 1985 yesterday. Loved him when I was 13…fast forward 38 years later, watching his high octane show here yesterday-a set list of 15+ hits- he entertained like no other! A rock solid performance and personality, Rick Springfield certainly does need to be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame❤️
Nice meeting you fan..thanks for supporting mydream and carrier may God Almighty

Yes the Best Ever - We are on the same page - great music
NOTHING comes close to the energy and optimism of this music! LONG LIVE MTV!!!!!!
Original too, not a cover/ stolen sample like everything now. Looks not important, the music was all that mattered.
One of my favorite Rick Springfield songs; must've seen "Hard to Hold" a hundred times as a teenager! This man is still super sexy and sings like time has stood still-love you Rick!!

It's strange how I haven't heard this song in almost 35 years but still remember the lyrics. Probably because I listened to this 1,000 times back in '84.
You're awesome
Me too...
I remember the lyrics to every song from 80:s early 90's I love love love all the different genres from that era
We were blessed great music with people that actually had talent and could play instruments awesome movies and no technology to interrupt our fun time if you didn't talk on the phone to your friends before you left the house there was no way to get in touch with you and I actually missed that. If I could go back in a time machine and be left there in a heartbeat I would do it
Same here. I was a 1985 high school grad so got in on the good music of the 80s. I remember lyrics better than I do faces and names lol Hell, I don't recall what I did last week, but play me an 80s song I'll sing along with it every time.
God has it been that long?
For me, 1,000....(minimum) LOL! Between MTV, radio, and my older sisters. I never owned a Rick Springfield album/tape, but I know ALL his songs!
The 80s can never will never and wont ever be touched when it comes to amazing songs that meant somthing the day of the anthem is gone the hpur of the power ballad has passed thank god we can still tune out the now and go back to the 80s whenever we want
Yes you're right. We will miss it forever.
Not just the music, the movies were also great, and we had a much better president in the White House. It was an all around great decade.
This is actually one of my favorite Rick Springfield songs.

Hello Danielle!
"I can see the path you're cutting, cost me a little piece of my heart." What an opening line ! One of the best.
Struck a cord that line. Was played for years, knew it and just coming back for more destroyed me for years and will never fully recover. Music then made sense and helped you cure.
The 80’s Music was and will always be the Greatest ❤️❤️ Best Times! Best Rock Bands! Best Genre!!!
Yeah the 80s music like this is awesome some of the junk they play today is crazy
It doesn't get more real than this this IS the 80s
No doubt 80’s best music ever.
Fuck yeah. Epitome of the 80's. Love it.
I miss the 80's soooooo much.
me too I was a young mom in those days I miss it
SO DO I! !!!!
+Zack Kyran y?
me too
heavy cheesiness warts and all it was a great time !!
It's insane how good looking Rick was for a 34-35 year old at the time! I can see why girls went crazy for this dude the way they do for One Direction now... but the difference was his music rocks and was actually GOOD too. )
+JPMcFly1985Two rock is a bit of a hard word for this. I'm not saying this isn't great, because it is, but this is guitar-based pop. Power-pop, pop-rock if you need to have the word rock in there. Rick Springfield is a pop star, not a rock star.
I'd agree it's not legit classic guitar rock, but probably could pass for a really pop AOR, like It doesn't sound out of place next to 80s bands like Journey or Survivor.
+Finn Breidenbach He is a pop star, but some of his songs could probably have been featured on FM rock stations. 'Calling On Girls' actually was played locally here on a rock station. And the guitar solo in this is very 80s rock -- though the rest of the song is pop.
+JPMcFly1985Two A 34/35 year old is still young so of course he still looked good as he also took care of himself and made good music
Even now at 66 he looks great, especially for an older dude. Must have amazing genes.
One of the best songs of the 80's, period.
No it's not, period
@@kletushalbergstein835 It really is.
If you were a teenager in the 80's you got to enjoy a special time that as you look around at nowadays you really appreciate that you have those memories!!!!!!!!
My Kinda Music - Oh Boy - This was definitely the best of music
One of the greatest guitar riffs of all time. And the mandolin type background rhythm tracks are genius. Just another great song from an artist who had to earn his stripes the hard way.
Tim Pierce is the most unsung hero and unknow guitar god.
