This song is absolutely my favorite VH song. My dad passed when I was a teen and the lyrics are so appropriate for the story of my life. At the end of the song when Sammy belts out “Hey Ray, what you said is true, I can’t stop loving you.” Is so incredible. My dad’s name was Ray and I didn’t know why he added that to the song and told all my friends I’d ask Sammy one day. It ended up coming true and Sammy listened intently to my heart and got goosebumps as we talked. He tole me it is about Ray Charles and his song of the same name.
Ray Charles had an album based on his take on country music. I Can't Stop Lovin' You (different than this one) was one of the songs.

Eddie is still of the greatest guitarists of all time and is still considered to be one of the greatest minds in music. I remember him saying to continue to rock on because there’s nothing else to do but that. Music keeps us going and this song is one that is so beautiful and peaceful. Van Halen Forever! 🤟🏻🤟🏻

It’s so good to see all the stuff starting to be remastered, it’s so good to see how it was meant to be seen. It’s good to see Edward in this video, he looks really good. I well always miss this guy, we never got a chance to see him get old. Rest in peace Edward a fan forever
One of my all time favorites, Eddie's rythm and timing in this song is so great, it still seems like yesterday when this song came out. It's hard to believe, he's been gone three years now.

It’s sad that we won’t get anymore VH. True greats of the rock genre. Sammy was a great frontman (dunno why he divided opinion with some folks) he was also a great foil for Eddie. Absolutely diamond.

IMO it’s more sad that VH wasted so many years when they could have been making music.
I know it’s not the same but Sammy is doing a tour that’s for Eddie in 2024. It’s in his memory. Of course it won’t be the same but it’s the closest we will get these days. He is inviting Dave to sing his songs and Alex to play on some songs as well. Let’s cross our fingers to see if it happens. I already got my tickets for my city!

I guess a lot of us feel that way. I have never mourned so much for someone I didn’t know or ever meet. I guess it’s because he was so much a part of our youth. He was at every party we had, and so many nights out cruising around. Great great memories. RIP King Edward

One of the greatest ROCK songs ever CRAFTED. When you take a deep dive and appreciate Eddie's work on note changes between chords and the PERFECTLY placed melodic TAPPING. ADD in Sammy's pipes, MA vocals. And AVH'S CRAFTED SNARE sound= 1 OF THE GREATEST ROCK tracks in HISTORY. EPIC.
Regardless of where we all stand, Sammy Hagar is a great guy, and does so much!

I f'ing LOVE this album!! It came at such a dark time in music when everybody around me was listening to bullshit. It was one of the few diamonds of the dark, barren musical landscape of the mid 90s.

Absolutely. I'm a huge Extreme fan (love Nuno), and I was excited when I heard VH brought Gary on board after Sammy left the band. The fact that he can sing the Dave and Sammy songs equally great made him a likely fit for the band. The song writing just didn't fit though, which was my point. Dave may have been a better frontman but Sammy took the song writing to a whole new level.
Balance probably one of my favorite records ever.

People talk about Roth V Hagar but they both have their niches. Roth is admittedly the best pure, uncut, unadulterated Hard Rock.
But, Hagar era has some top tier pop rock with transcendent, even archetypal song writing. Very universal songs.

Had a Greatest hits of Elvis on CD back in my freshman year in 2004. Traded it for Best of Van Halen Volume 1 and heard this song for the first time. Well worth the trade!

To be honest, I grew up with this type of music because of my brothers who love this genre, but I had never paid attention to the lyrics, I am 30 years old and I am discovering that this genre is great I love !!!!

Age and ungodly wealth had Van Halen tiptoeing into Adult Contemporary with this one, but Edward’s chops never failed to amaze. Balance has become underrated in the 30 years since its release. Every few years I dive back in. RIP EVH.
