Great video, and great job putting it together. Keep up the good work. I just started doing some restoration videos this year. I've been working on a bunch of stuff, and this is a great idea. Looking forward to more ideas.
Very nice job! Used to live in Glendale and Surprise years ago. Just more than an hour to Sedona, Payson for outdoor camping. The winter time is wonderful there while everywhere is cold and snow. I used artificial turf for my gazebo ground (love the shape but take more time to build) instead of concrete slab and this helps release heat. Hey, how about a misty system and lantern string that every Arizonan loves to have in the backyard? I miss the concrete block fence there :-D
@@taylor.g.deloye Saw those palm trees. I don't know how you think but create a tiny paradise look in the desert by surround that nice pergola with palm trees and they will benefit from misty system too. Party time, yeah! Hahaha

Are you in California? If so can you come to my house and fix my pergola? Someone charged me $2000 and never finished it. It's been a year now. I'm in the desert. Joshua tree national park area
Hello! Sorry to hear that happened. I am in Arizona. I recommend contacting a local handyman to fix finish the pergola for you. You may want to research what legal options you have regarding the unfinished work. Thanks for watching!
This was wrong because the weight of the main cross beams should be carried directly by the uprights and not by bolts? This is how not to do it acccording to other videos Ive watched.
Absolutely nice and easy... No complications... Thanks a lot!
I can't wait to do mine
Good video... Underappreciated so far...

Nice video. What type of fabric did you use and where did you get it from?
Search “10x10 Sun Shade” on Amazon, it is woven plastic fiber, will last 2-3 years
@@taylor.g.deloye Thank you!
Why not using 4x4 post? Was 4x6 more for the look or do you really think it holds better, dont you have a lot of weight on top ?
Just for the aesthetic, 4x4 works too and they are slightly less expensive!
Sorry if i missed you saying it. What is the L and W of your pergola. By the way, you made me much more confident when i do mine in the spring
It’s 10’x10’
Good luck with your project!
Your existing shade structure is anchored to the eve ? Did I see that right?
I’m not 100% sure what you mean- the beige sun shade is weaved through the top 2x4s and then anchored into eye bolts in the 4x6 posts with nylon rope. I hope that helps!
What did you use to hold the joist? And where can we get it?

Did you make pergola roof with angle or horizontal?
The sun shade is woven on top and under the cross beams to prevent movement and give it a nicer look. I hope that helps
What kind lumber?Doug fir?
Yessir!

How deep did you dig footings?
About 20”
Can the post be setup in 4 inch concrete slab
Yes you can do that, I would recommend pouring the slab first and then drilling the footings and setting brackets.
What type of wood did you use?
Douglas Fir from Home Depot :)
Is this redwood or Douglas fir?
Douglas Fir!
What sizes of wood did you use?
4x6s for the posts, 2x8s for the top beams, 2x4s for the canopy
@@taylor.g.deloye Thanks much!

It’s definitely not wrong, lag bolts are rated for 1,000s of pounds, the beams are 25lbs.
