There is something incredibly endearing about Ashley being so deep into her role, and Daniel being so right for his, that it took her 4 auditions to realize he was hot.
😂 Obviously it wasn’t just important that Darcy be hot!! He had to be right in so many ways, and DVG’s acting, more than anything else, won him the role. But…yeah. They were all hotties 😂
There are the immediately attractive who sometimes disappoint when they are bland or hollow or just not right. Then, there are those who become attractive or whose beauty reveals itself slowly as familiarity and rich inner resources spill out: humor, kindness, preparation to work.
By the end of this video, I was expecting to see DVG's torso suddenly appear next to Ashley 😂

Same here. I guessed right, that in this episode we would see Hank, but in the end i totally had to hear from somewhere: "Excuse me, Ashley..."))
I had a gut feeling that we were going to be trolled with this episode, all part of the Lizzie Bennett Diaries experience. I legit laughed when Hank appeared.
Also Ashley talking about how Daniel grew on her, talk about life imitating art. I love it

As excited as I was to see DVG, I could never be even remotely upset about Hank appearing.
Also Hank's take on perfectionism has literally transformed my life, and I mean literally in the literal sense of the word.
Agoraphobic Lobster Darcy is something of a modern creation. The other snobbier take is like 1970s Darcy. 😂
Three unrelated comments:
1. My literal actual very first thought when Daniel sat down all those ten years ago and I saw Darcy's face for the first time: "Whoa he has eyebrows"
2. I just today (by pure coincidence) finished re-reading P&P and the ONE THING that NO adaptation does is that when Darce shows up to propose he says hi and then paces around the room and doesn't talk for "SEVERAL MINUTES." I mean I understand why it doesn't show up in adaptations but omg could you imagine?
3. I'm getting ready to direct my first play and my biggest concern is my inability to delegate. The play feels very much like *my* project and I'm so reluctant to relinquish control but I know in the long run it'll be better for it. So it was really good and helpful to hear Hank talk delegating in such a positive light.
The best tip my directing mentor ever gave me was to prepare, prepare, prepare...and then throw it out the window on the first day. The preparation is to make sure you know where you want to go but what happens in the room will be better than what you envisioned as long as you create a space where the actors feel safe to experiment and fail.

We love a good troll Ashley! One of my favorite moments about the end of the episode was, in the end card, there was a playlist to re-watch the series from the beginning, and there was just a small typed note in that annotation that said 'Like Darcy Will'. I remember finding it years later on a re-watch and thought it was hilarious.
of course now this means that we'll be expecting to be trolled in episode 97
When I first watched the LBD, I binged all the episodes that were out, and episode 60 was the first one that I watched in real time as it came out. It was also my birthday so Darcy Day feels like a birthday gift from the LBD to me :)
That many rehearsals and you still NAILED the "ohhhhnooooooo" expression at the end.
That's my job! Also the audition wasn't the WHOLE scene, that would be too long. We only did the ending in the callbacks.
I think the same thing happened to me at first I thought Daniel was very handsome darcy but I was not completely convinced little by little fell in love with him. A pleasure to see hank again, I didn't remember that he had written this episode.

As with all other seahorses, Darcy Day was such a big deal - I think I set an alarm for the premiere because premiere notifications on yt weren't a thing yet. But it was also very weird because I was a massive Cracked fan, and DVG was the only actor I actually knew of before seeing them on LBD. Still, the perfect Darcy.
I laughed SO hard when I saw Hank, but there was still a part of my brain that was like "okay, but Daniel's gonna pop up next, right?" for a couple seconds (and now that I've thought of it, I totally understand that this likely won't happen, but it would be fun to have you and Hank AND Daniel together)
I paused to laugh when Hank appeared 😂 I didn't know he had a writing credit on this ep! Some lines are almost directly out of the book. This episode feels more like a play to me in some way. The emotions are very real!
It felt like a play to do, perhaps because it was also the most rehearsed. It felt very satisfying to do!

I remember being so so excited for this episode. I remember gasping when Darcy sat down. I remember watching this episode over and over waiting for the next one. Ah the memories. Can't believe it's been 10 years already.

I remember I watchd the previous video of Look Back Diaries and somebody wrote that it would be funny if Daniel would not appear in the next episode and that Ashley would be evil genius, I sincerely laughed at that but I was like NAH... she would not do that to us... I mean at least I know can say I know the feeling the fans had 10 years ago, because I first binge watched LBD like five years ago so now I can say that I know probably what the fans had felt in the beginning because for the first time I watch the whole series like in one day and night. I remember I watched this episode like in 2 a. m. and even though I was very tired I had to go on and I did not stop until the end so I was going to sleep like in 6 a. m. I think?
But really evil genius, you really are.
Anyway I just wanted to say that his was like peak of acting of the whole series, I love this episode with my whole hear and it is so precious and so genious from all the points of view, your mimic, your intonation, your cadence etc.

I feel like the casting comments about other actors for Darcy being focused on hotness really speaks to Daniel as an actor. He played the character well enough that people were able to look past his hotness and actually talk about his acting.

I’m 100% in love with this episode and all that is in it. But I’m most hung up on the fact that I’m pretty sure I owned the same green dress that Lizzie wears in the first 5 minutes.
