Very clear and straightforward. I may be looking at doing this on a 2013 Escalade but I have yet to determine if it is a wheel bearing problem or has the parking brake assembly begun to disintegrate. I'm not familiar with rear wheel bearings going bad at just over 112K miles but I suppose anything is possible. Thank you for showing everything so clearly here.

Nice video... I would suggest going the extra mile and removing the sway bar all together, that way you can rest the axle tube upon the jack stand directly. You stand the chance of ruining the sway bar bushings with the upward force if you don't. Overall, good job!

Jacob magnetic will get that c ring out before pulling axle

Can I use high temperature synthetic grease for the bearing instead of gear oil ??

  • @jimh.5286

There's a way to determine which rear wheel bearing is bad. When driving and turning the vehicle to the right, more weight is shifted onto the left wheel bearing, usually causing the noise to get louder if the left bearing is bad. If the right wheel bearing is the bad one, the noise often will get noticeably louder when turning to the left.

I had Firestone do this job for me . Afterwards the abs light and traction light are on . Day later my brakes start locking up . Any idea what is going on ? Tech at Firestone says it may be ring gear not lined up correctly

What about using the repaired bearings? Is there an extra step or the same process? I was advised to use the repaired bearings on mine. It's a 08 Avalanche.

Very nice ..Questions?/ When slamming the outer bearing into the axle tube is there a collar or stop that the bearing hits bottomed out in tube? and if so how does the reductor tone ring pass that collar to remove if necessary.. How much gap is between between the tone ring and the bearing 1/4 inch ?? guessing. Thanks for your help and great video.
