    Helpful and intriguing. In August 1990 I purchased a K3500 Silverado. As I began to read about the mechanics of my new truck I soon came to learn that the 1 Ton Chevrolet and GMC trucks had "floating axles" which, if I'm remembering it correctly, simplified the process of replacing a wheel bearing. Has anyone reading this ever done a bearing replacement on a vehicle with floating axles? I never had an issue with the K3500 Silverado in the five years I owned it.

    Do you have a video on replacing the rear hub assembly on a 2002 Suburban. I imagine it is quite different but cannot find the tutorial.

    Hello,
    Just always had question...how does Axle locks to Differential ? I see it is free and no where locked. I saw you pulling it freely.. even that C clip in the differential may not lock it right ?
    I wonder how wheel is always stay inside differential.why not it slips horizontally outward.

    Very helpful video, thanks! I have a 99 chevy express 3500 I'm getting ready to open up the differential.(having some ugly sounds coming from it). It has drum brakes in the rear. Any idea if the rear axle shafts are locked in the same as this. Everything else looks the same to me except the disc brakes..

    Do you have to replace the axle? Or is it okay to just do the bearing and the seal??

    • @blakebrowning1851
      @blakebrowning1851 3 роки тому

      I'd say that you could keep the axle if nothing was wrong with it.

    • @lichking3711
      @lichking3711 2 роки тому

      no but you need to check for scoring, discoloration, and warpage, although if you had a bent axle you'd feel it as wheel vibration that won't go away regardless of how much you balance it
