Bearded Jim and non-bearded jim are 2 completely different people
Jim seems like the coolest dude ever
he is, bro!!
That intro was a clean transition!!!
I love Mick...and Jim...they're totally into their gear, they are a credit to the empire of the guitar!!!
jim root on mtv cribs
Vigors Vigores lol
Jim's laugh gets me every time😀😁😅
First the intro is great;second, this is great old school rig rundown with lots of gear. You’re seeing more and more rig rundowns and to watch the change as time goes is very fascinating
I love how Jim does it without his mask but nick is sorta like "what? this is what my face looks like."
ManiacBanana I have seen Mick without his mask. Maybe at that time he was not comfortable doing an interview without his signature mask
@@annetteslife Shut up, you ruined the joke.
damn!!
i love the simplicity of Jim's Guitar!!!
it might be simple in appearance but one hell of played by Jim himself!!
Jim really does have amazing tone, especially in the new stuff I've heard from Stone Sour.
that acoustic is a genius piece of work... everything a metal player looks for in an acoustic guitar!
Loved the intro.
i feel ya, i was more of a mick guy a few years ago, but i just love jims playstyle and his classic equipment, and he is just an awesome guy :D
It's odd seeing Mick having a tele like guitar from Ibanez and that he has a signature acoustic guitar
Love the Orange Amps
I like how when you 1st hear this country music then 7 seconds later you hear sic.
im glad they know theyre shit. not saying that no one does, but i enjoy seeing the actual musicians talk about their setup rather than their techs.
snickylicky their* completely through me off in a different direction because of that.
Hah, same here. I never do grammar correction, but I actually read that as "I'm glad they know they are shit."
I love this video.
It's nice to see that the Boss NS-10 Noise Supressor is acknowledge by famous people as the best noise supressor ever. I have one since they came out, it cost me a lot of money (almost 200€ in today's currency) but It will stay with me as long as I live and I think it will outlast me.
My mind has been blown!
god damn i love his acoustic guitar
All of this sounds very fancy yes.
that transition in the beginning was awesome
Killer rig Root! Killer guitar Mick!!
Jim's chuckles at 1:03, 2:39, and 3:22 are so catchy.
Both these guys are huge.
he's forever in it.
@FMJman1 ok... Thanks, man. Simply love Jim and Mick's tone! Those are two badass guitarists... So underated.
No kidding man. I love that tele
Jim Root's equipment is so boss !
They make me proud to live in Iowa.
jumbos are the way to go. best fret size in my opinion and i've had guitars with smaller frets, i like the jumbos the best.
personal preference for everyone. i love both X)
i love the intro!!
The acoustic one looks great.
nope, the other amp is powering one speaker that is in a box that has one or two microphones in it, those send the sound that they record to the large speakers that you can see in both sides of a stage, if you've ever been to a concert. the cabinets that have more/4 speakers per cabinet, are there for stage volume. jim has said that if he wanted, he could get rid of them, but he wants to hear he's playing from them.
It's good to see Mick has finally decided tone is important, a plywood guitar with EMG's in it sounds almost as bad on paper as it does in reality. Jim's rack is amazing, great choice with the Orange/Bogner/Diezel combo.
@deadblacktree Rockverb 100, which are 100 watts.
i like the starry effect they used in this video and the stephen carpenter guitar world video and probably every other video, pretty cool
Mick Thomson with a telecaster. That's it. Now I've seen everything
so cool
Most guitarists won't have their pedals/pedalboards on stage unless they're really fussy/particular about such stuff, like Korn (last time) and Muse.
I think what he meant by controller pedal is a remote switch/expression pedal, so it doesn't clutter up the stage or make it hazardous to headbang/mosh around.
He uses a Strat for some songs now. I believe Dead Memories live. Go look for their most recent shows... Rock Am Ring, Download Festival... etc.
I don't think I could choose between mick and Jim cuz they r both badasses
Y have one when you can have Two!! EPIC!!
What would be the better amp for cleans, classic rock and metal the Rivera Kr7 or the orange rockerverb?
According to the website, he has 2 out right now. The newer one looks totally insane. 3 humbuckers, Tele body with Strat head. So yeah, I won't be surprised if a Jim Root Strat comes along.
the song in the background is (sic) from the album Slipknot
i like the body on mick's guitar, but the headstock doesnt flatter it too well
Wow, I am extremely surprised at how much these guys know about their gear. Most people don't get into fretboard radius and wood choices.
does anyone know what type of strings and the size he uses for this Ibanez MTM1 Guitar?
please PM me with any info on strings he uses for his main heavy stuff
Thanks!
the power unit is i guess for swaping between the american and european/ect voltage, but still keeping the amps and such going and not blowing. rackmount wah is tweakable, so they basicly have wah's that they like. and the effects/pedals are used alot in slipknot actually. not maby so much on the records but they use them live, to make it more fun they say or add colour, or boost or saturation, whatever. i think there is a sensible reason to most of their stuff. and the old stuff is old stuff.
it can be either but if hes controlling it the pedal would be on the floot with him. a rack mount wah is just basically a wah built into a rack unit with a "dummy" pedal controlling the sweep the pedal could be used for other foot controlling uses aswell its just not a wah.
3:22 "why have one when you can have two..." the laugh after killed me
Oooo its beatiful mick and james
+Dariana Nahumi Mendoza Martinez Cause Stone Sour is awesome.
Hahaha I grew up in Iowa. I laughed my ass off right away with the intro to this video. That's Iowa...until Slipknot showed up!
This was fucking Awesome!
SWEEEET
Thanks for repy'in to me and tyVM for the info.
Keep it Rockin!!! \m/\m/
@yangadoshi Well I do have a Jim Root telecaster and an Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition Skull but I need some more equipment.
cool thank you
ohhhh dope
its a custom model built for mick, you cant get it anywhere, but you can get the mt1 at any shop that sells it
I've always wondered how Mick can play a guitar, he's got gigantic hands!
Jim Root , God of Guitar.
A-raq, B-raq, I-raq
Good one !
1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 440 Six Pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This dude knows a good car when he sees one!
MOPAR BABY
mick is my favorite guitarist along with jim root mark morton, willie adler, alexi laiho, and daron malakian
The way the intro song shifts into (sic) is fucking perfect! XD
Wow, that intro actually plays well into the slipknot song.
@tohtorigyro Yes, they do have pedals, the question is.. does it make a difference? I don't care if they have so many rig modules and stuff, its just that, do they even use it wise? I don't think so. All they need is a guitar, a distortion pedal or an overdrive amp, and that's it, you got a Slipknot album.
wish i had those setups
you're right there
jim should make a signature head +cab (and a combo version for smaller houses like flats) (apartment)
@DamageIncM i think that's the one he uses for his cleaner stuff like snuff.
THAT IS A GUITARISTS DREAM!!!!!!!
Anyhoo know what EMGs mick used in his warlocks?
Yeah it's absolutely the colour.
I never would have guessed that Mick Thompson would be so well-spoken
the intro is fucking epic !
y couldnt mick do his unmasked???
Mick never does any interviews unmasked
Scared
+Tuvshin I wouldn't be talking
13Spartan666 i have seen recent interviews with Mick unmasked
Annette Melnychuk but he's always wearing his glasses lol
Exactly Shawskee - POSE!
Jim has motorcycles in his house?badass!!
NICE WISH I HAD THAT SHIT!!!!
Jim"s Orange Amps are his custom line !
i love that mans laugh
@Guitarrig31 its just a different guitar, im sure he kept his blackouts on the mtm1s
what's the Maxon pedal between the boss and the small stone?
Jim and I have the same Couch Pillows. :DD
oh and i was talking about Mick from Slipknot too btw for my last comment
Thanks!
I highly doubt so. I don't think Fender would release 2 signature models from the same guitarist. I could be wrong, and if I am, the one he's using now is a prototype for a future model.
yes dope
@lifewithbeats jim root is the lead guitar for stone sour
Nice Professional Chiller Font.
a quick peak at SOME of the pedals how many pedals does this guy have
I WANNA KNOW!
Cant believe they met in fricking iowa...
Sort of like a backup rack, or like what he said how if he was playing in one country he could ship the other rig to another to ensure that he has one to play when they get to their gig in that other country.
Besides, one should always have backup gear when performing live P:
did anyone notice the motorcycle in Jim's house? haha these guys are my favorite guitarists second to Syn Gates of A7X lol
AMEN!!!
i tried a RockerVerb 50 after seeing this video and i was very suprised
@Bradtheguitarfreak Paul is not dead too! He's always in our memory!
