Introducing the Jim Root Signature Charvel Pro-Mod San Dimas
/ charvelusa
The amount of editing to remove all the “you-knows” is almost as impressive as the shredding
I pay attention to the way people talk, whether that's on a UA-cam video or in person, and LOTS of people say "you know".
@@ATX0705 he knows
@@TimmyDarkness Does he know?
@@kaivalentine9664 Do YOU know?
@@razzle1692 does everybody knows?
I love how much of a gear nerd Jim Root is. I also love how he is basically just going through Fender's lineup of guitars and getting a new signature every other year or so and putting his spin on it.
Fun Fact: Iowa produces 733.6 million pounds of corn a year, but Slipknot is still the heaviest thing that’s ever come out of the state.
I love how much he always cares about making sure that his sig models aren't stupid expensive. What's the point of having a signature guitar if your fans can't actually get one?
Also not slapping logos and branding all over the guitar. You wouldn't know this was a Jim Root signature unless you REALLY know guitars. I see lots of people play his signature in other bands too, the Jim Root telecasters were great guitars for any genre. I knew people who owned them and didn't even really know Slipknot or Jim, so there's that.
@@DudeMcGuybro yeah! He’s mentioned that a lot when talking about his other sig models too. Just his signature really small on the back of the headstock.
Micks signature Jackson is like 2 grand, nuts
@@Randomonium66 which ones? The ones down here are under 2k AUD, and Sweetwater has them for $999 USD at the moment.
@@Merjia I'm not 100% positive it's exactly 2 grand but it's in that ballpark, the neck thru model, the deluxe, might even be a great deal, but I thought it was a lot 😆
I'll be honest, every time Jim does a demo for one of the Fender companies (Fender, Jackson, Charvel, etc), his tone always sounds better than his normal tone. EVH needs to just send him a truckload of EVH 5150s so he can finally switch lmao.
He can't use the tone he wants on slipknot tracks because of how much is going on on every song.
Check his guitar lessons for songs like "the negative one" or "killpop". That tone is insane
@@marcguerao2 the negative one tutorial tone is absolutely brutal, I wish he could use them in mixes but the crazy truth is it just punches so damn hard it wouldn't fit in the mix, kinda same with Mick tbh, but Jim definitely has a punchier sound when he wants one.
good to know fender own's all of that, thats why charvel has the same headstock as Fender, so is Mick endorsed by Fender too ?
HARD agree
@@NeverHatred I think yes, but few yars back he was endorsed by Ibanez
The older I get, the more I find myself utterly attracted to simplicity, quality and functionality.
That's how I like my women as well as I get older .
@@andysalter7192 Amen
I’m not much of a Slipknot fan, but I am a fan of Jim Root as a human. He just seems very intelligent and humble- we need more musicians like him.
he is also INSANELY cool
Jim Root is such a cool dude and awesome guitar player. Keeping the Rock attitude alive! Honestly, I'm still interested in Slipknot only because of him. Congrats for these new killer sigs!
That's what I was thinking about!!
love that he´s grown his hair back!
I love that all these "old" Charvels are coming back. Such fun to play and mod, or do really anything with.
I haven't seen Jim headbang without a mask since the stone sour days lol
Exactly what I was thinking lol
I ended up buying myself the black version a few weeks ago and it is an unreal guitar. Punches so far about it’s weight when you consider the cost!
Idk why but I find it kind of amusing how quickly this guy jumps from one sig model to the next. I remember seeing this video when it came out and I thought to myself “did he not just release his V4 Jazzmaster not too long ago” haha this guy’s living the dream
Love Jim Root, great songwriter and I’ve heard he is a really nice person. I hope to meet him sometime. It looks like I might be adding a Charvel to my collection as well 🎸🔥
Awesome video, kudos to whoever shot and edited this together. Always love seeing Jim talk and play.
That shred at the end tho!! Love how simple he keeps things and sticks to what works for him!!
Still have my model 3A from the 80's, Black/maple FR license trem. This was my main gig guitar back then still kills it, everyone that plays it is blown away with its... Everything, ... construction, tone, playability and how it stays in tune after a good spank.
Sometimes Jim reminds me of Dave Grohl. I respect both as genuine artists and human beings. Cheers from Morocco
I'd buy one in a heartbeat if a hardtail or string-thru version was available
fender?
@@cdnpunk2270 my thinking exactly 😂
Get one of his Fenders. They’re awesome!
That’s what I thought. 👌🏻
Yeah I was thinking that same thing
Finally Jim ´s got long Hair again and the big Beard stayed for good Reason.
Oh, he plays Charvel too which is kinda lovely cause i´m a big Fan of Chrvel too -)
Does it arouse you?
@@Communism.is.a.cancer Are you happy with your Life ?
WHY DONT YOU JUST PROPOSE THEN???
@@MRPERFECT_79 It´s clear you ´re a good Friend lol
Jim is just the coolest! Can’t wait to get mine! I have the black one on its way.
I'd buy one for sure! I have been playing Charvel since 84. I can say 2 of my 3 go to guitars are Charvel!!!
Never was a Slipknot fan, but Jim Root comes across as a sound guy, plus I appreciate his taste in guitars in the sense that he doesn't need to go for total OTT unnecessarily spiky 'metuhhl' axes. Ultimately a metal workhorse guitar comes down to stuff like your pickups, fretboard radius, or whatever the hell works for you.
Same here. He's likely a great guy to shoot the shit with about gear and music.
me too. Not a big Slipknot fan either, but I have a lot of respect for them. They cracked the mainstream with some pretty extreme metal and that deserves massive respect. I also love heavy music but don't like "metal" guitars - hell, my Ibby RG I just wish had a less pointy headstock. Any time you play another genre you feel silly lol
This is awesome. Would love to demo this, as a metal-geared Charvel. I just got my first Charvel, the Guthrie Govan sig, last month and it is one AMAZING guitar. The playability is second almost to none, and it is so versatile.
I got my first charvel. I got the joe duplantier signature and it works and sounds great. I usually play 7 and 8 strings but I seriously love it.
Hagrid is that you?
I saw one in a shop last week, the satin black finish was just gorgeous
I bought a satin orange So Cal last year. It's so pretty, I keep the crumbs and spittle off of it.
I'm glad to see that Jim Roots come back full circle back to charvel guitars 🤘🏻 cuz that's how I remember Jim root back in the day 🤘🏻
Que guapooooo ❤️ lo amo, que increíble guitarrista es, todavía no me creo que lo haya visto tan de cerca
This is probably my favorite one he's done yet. The Satin white model is definitely calling my name and will probably be the first Jim Root sig I purchase. Every Charvel I've played and owned has been a monster player. I love Satin white and translucent white finishes and this is pretty much exactly how I'd personally spec the guitar, minus the EMGs. Can't wait to check one out.
Congratulations to charvel after Guthrie Govan and Joe Duplantier another amazing guitarist came to your family but I request charvel to provide a fixed bridge version also
and joe duplantier from gojira
@@lepeejonathan3401 right
Or get a Fender model
Yeah I would get one if it didn’t have a floyd. Floyds are fun but they’re a pain to set up and tune and I almost never really use the bar at all on the Dean ML I own. I’ll probably end up hardtailing it
@@trendkill3333 perfectly said brother
My charvel mod 1 is magic , as is my angel nova 7... dominating guitar progression for over 40 years ... im sold.
I’m such a guitar snob and I love my Charvel guitars. They pack so much quality into an affordable instrument. They play so easily and sound damn good. What’s not to like?
great explanation from of talented artist … when a famous artist explain his love for his instrument , his music and his parents in a nice way , somehow that give me hope for the future of the world
Very cool. I'm not a slipnot fan at all, but I dig the guitar. I still have a 1990 Charvel predictor and it is killer. Lava crackle with Schaller
🤘♥️🤘
☯️
cant get enough of this dudes voice!!
You got a model 1 as Christmas present when you were a teenager. How cool is that.
Yep, I'm getting one!
The GOAT of metal guitaring!!! Most down to earth musician. BUT i would kill for this in a hardtail or string thru version then id get one. Cant stand FR's :(
the goat metal guitarist? really?
@@ejRecording I think so yes. Personal opinion 👍🏻
His fender strats are basically that. You'd just need to swap the pickups over
@@ZediBaptista Yes but i want the white, non pickguard version.
Im stunned that he's using a floyd whammy... Stunned I tell you! Still sick axe man!
EVH + Fender + Charvel + Gretsch + Jackson = FMIC!
I like when he played the guitar
I already got them Jim root pics now i need the guitar
Badass looking guitars!
active pickups that push for more of a passive sound have been becoming more and more popular every year
He's slowly becoming a lion, like the metal lion.
Going to have to beat the lead singer of Coheed and Cambria to first place haha
amazing....and good film.
Great video! 👍 I’ve got an Arctic White “Charvel San Dimas SD1 model guitar." And I Love it 🎸
Jim is looking more and more like Alan Moore with each passing year. Can’t wait for his comics. Lol
I like Jim . He seems like somebody I'd vibe with .
that looks awesome
San Dimas? EXCELLENT!
still wish it wasnt so expensive to sandblast mass produced guitars, would of loved one of the red and black sandblasted teles jim has they look fucking sexy
Me too.... But it's too unpractical to produce for mass quantity for that type(keeping price in mind)......
@@abbasahmedlp oh yeah for sure one would look sexy on my wall tho
So Jimbo plays a Charvel San Dimas like me... cool :)
Out of the Jim and Mick imo Jim for me personally has always been the most relatable out of Slipknots guitarists. Style wise I have always been drawn to him out of the two as well. I can relate to his story and guitar playing... he plays metal but is also rooted in rock and will also bust out some crazy jazz licks when hes noodling around lol. His guitars are always basic but yet SO AWESOME. I remember when I first saw them back in 99 at ozzfest I remember seeing him play either a jackson or charvel dinky. But def when I saw them in 04 during the subliminal versus era Im pretty sure he was playing black charvel san dimas guitars before he signed w/ fender. Besides Eddie Van Halen, Jim Root was a big inspiration for me growing up playing guitar in the early 00's in high school and was the guitarist that turned me onto Charvel guitars.
so cool!
I like everything, however I'm a sucker for reverse headstock, yeah I know not everyone's favorite, but I love 'em!
I can’t do reverse headstock lol
I had a jim ropt telecaster back in day but it was literally so heavy it gave me a dead leg when played sitting and was a shocker standing up lol. Sounded great though.
Wow that's so cool
🤘🏿😎🤘🏿wayyy cool! Getcha Pull 🥃-CHEERS 🍻
go ahead carvel!!!
Jim root gets a new signature guitar like every week it seems like lol but he definitely getting a signature of everything under the fender umbrella which I can't blame him shit nobody else is doing it like him. I guess he just likes alot of different guitars brands and guitar shapes.
San Dimas high school football rules!!
Amazing Riff and Sound Great Guitar 🎸🎶🎵🔥🇺🇸🔥
Vibey sorta vibe 🎸🔥🔥🔥
If I could play half as good as Jim Root, I would be eternally grateful to God for that gift. He is one of the most likeably down to earth famous musicians. My only wish though is for his other artist models to have the upgrades (he deserves it) this one has which is to have both the Graphite Reinforcements and Side Luminlays.
Jim Root, my mother's third favorite guitarist after Eric Clapton and Santana
Looks very similar to the 2021 Squire contemporary HH Floyd strat if anyone is looking for a budget version that plays great.
Jim root guitar playing is so underrated
Needs more solo on the new album
Wild Stallions!
Very beaultful. Charvel is my drwam
😍😍😍 Wow 😎🤘🤘
Next thing you know he will have his own signature gretsch hollow body the way he's going with all these signatures
need one of these with mick
OMG JIMMMMM
this man is god!!!
"I needed something not so over saturated that you couldn't really decipher notes from each other..."
*Is that you, Iowa* 🤣?? The almost 180 turn in Vol. 3 was much appreciated, though the saturated guitars in Iowa is what makes it Iowa. This guitar looks awesome and beautiful.
I never understood the cutaway on the back side of the body. it looks cool, but how exactly does it improve neck access? you'd have to have your hand in a really awkward position for it to make any difference
I wonder if we would ever get a signature wah from Jim. His was sounds original
I think I wonder what he uses with it
Now I have 10 Jim Root sigs…🤤
I'm just listening for new riffs for The End So far LOL
Dude I want the sandblasted (red) version dude.. Pls release that
It's nice that he never leaves Fender.
Oh, Fender is gone! I'm interested now
🔥🤘🔥
Jim root 100% best in the world. No like him have crazy headbang and live parts every song
Imagine that james root is your cool uncle 🤘
All hail Jim Fuckin Root! Got his fender telecaster and that guitar kills so versatile in playing different types of music but damn this Charvel is beautiful id switch from an orange crate to an evh but damn price difference tho......
I just picked up san dimas pro mod style 1.. I love everything about it except it seems a little bit heavy in the weight dept...perhaps that's cuz I'm used to my Flying V and a Tele?...Anyways , otherwise it's still a killer , ripping, and versatile guitar!
It still blows my mind that this man is left-handed but plays right-handed guitars.
Oh wow, he had all these "ideas" for the guitar (the switch placement, the knob placement etc) that he came up with on his own, yet they were offered as a standard feature in charvel guitars for like the past 7-8 years
The “charvel you know” model.
Charvel made this video feel so edgy with the editing
1:50 IT is good he wanted to be this model more affordable for younger players
Those Charvel models that Jim came out with are way better than his crappy fender guitars and sound super killer, especially with the Floyd Rose tremolo on them which is super killer and deadly! EXCELLENT! 🎸🎸
"Nice to have a CHarvel again for the first time since i was a kid"
Couple minutes later
"YEah so my Charvel during SUbliminal Versus"
WHAT?!
Nobody sells a guitar like Jim! That is a sweet Pro-Mod though no denying that!
Came here to hear Jim say “you know”.
Fuckin’ lovely!
