I love how much of a gear nerd Jim Root is. I also love how he is basically just going through Fender's lineup of guitars and getting a new signature every other year or so and putting his spin on it.
I love how much he always cares about making sure that his sig models aren't stupid expensive. What's the point of having a signature guitar if your fans can't actually get one?
Also not slapping logos and branding all over the guitar. You wouldn't know this was a Jim Root signature unless you REALLY know guitars. I see lots of people play his signature in other bands too, the Jim Root telecasters were great guitars for any genre. I knew people who owned them and didn't even really know Slipknot or Jim, so there's that.
@@DudeMcGuybro yeah! He’s mentioned that a lot when talking about his other sig models too. Just his signature really small on the back of the headstock.
@@Merjia I'm not 100% positive it's exactly 2 grand but it's in that ballpark, the neck thru model, the deluxe, might even be a great deal, but I thought it was a lot 😆
I'll be honest, every time Jim does a demo for one of the Fender companies (Fender, Jackson, Charvel, etc), his tone always sounds better than his normal tone. EVH needs to just send him a truckload of EVH 5150s so he can finally switch lmao.
He can't use the tone he wants on slipknot tracks because of how much is going on on every song. Check his guitar lessons for songs like "the negative one" or "killpop". That tone is insane
@@marcguerao2 the negative one tutorial tone is absolutely brutal, I wish he could use them in mixes but the crazy truth is it just punches so damn hard it wouldn't fit in the mix, kinda same with Mick tbh, but Jim definitely has a punchier sound when he wants one.
Jim Root is such a cool dude and awesome guitar player. Keeping the Rock attitude alive! Honestly, I'm still interested in Slipknot only because of him. Congrats for these new killer sigs!
Idk why but I find it kind of amusing how quickly this guy jumps from one sig model to the next. I remember seeing this video when it came out and I thought to myself “did he not just release his V4 Jazzmaster not too long ago” haha this guy’s living the dream
The editing and post-production in this video is absolutely off the charts. As a video editor, I send my KUDOS to the editor of this video for creating the RIDICULOUS edition that combines the 90's VHS tape effect with all the layers and the effects that give it the style of an old horror movie.
Still have my model 3A from the 80's, Black/maple FR license trem. This was my main gig guitar back then still kills it, everyone that plays it is blown away with its... Everything, ... construction, tone, playability and how it stays in tune after a good spank.
Love Jim Root, great songwriter and I’ve heard he is a really nice person. I hope to meet him sometime. It looks like I might be adding a Charvel to my collection as well 🎸🔥
Never was a Slipknot fan, but Jim Root comes across as a sound guy, plus I appreciate his taste in guitars in the sense that he doesn't need to go for total OTT unnecessarily spiky 'metuhhl' axes. Ultimately a metal workhorse guitar comes down to stuff like your pickups, fretboard radius, or whatever the hell works for you.
me too. Not a big Slipknot fan either, but I have a lot of respect for them. They cracked the mainstream with some pretty extreme metal and that deserves massive respect. I also love heavy music but don't like "metal" guitars - hell, my Ibby RG I just wish had a less pointy headstock. Any time you play another genre you feel silly lol
Finally Jim ´s got long Hair again and the big Beard stayed for good Reason. Oh, he plays Charvel too which is kinda lovely cause i´m a big Fan of Chrvel too -)
I’m such a guitar snob and I love my Charvel guitars. They pack so much quality into an affordable instrument. They play so easily and sound damn good. What’s not to like?
This is probably my favorite one he's done yet. The Satin white model is definitely calling my name and will probably be the first Jim Root sig I purchase. Every Charvel I've played and owned has been a monster player. I love Satin white and translucent white finishes and this is pretty much exactly how I'd personally spec the guitar, minus the EMGs. Can't wait to check one out.
The GOAT of metal guitaring!!! Most down to earth musician. BUT i would kill for this in a hardtail or string thru version then id get one. Cant stand FR's :(
This is awesome. Would love to demo this, as a metal-geared Charvel. I just got my first Charvel, the Guthrie Govan sig, last month and it is one AMAZING guitar. The playability is second almost to none, and it is so versatile.
Out of the Jim and Mick imo Jim for me personally has always been the most relatable out of Slipknots guitarists. Style wise I have always been drawn to him out of the two as well. I can relate to his story and guitar playing... he plays metal but is also rooted in rock and will also bust out some crazy jazz licks when hes noodling around lol. His guitars are always basic but yet SO AWESOME. I remember when I first saw them back in 99 at ozzfest I remember seeing him play either a jackson or charvel dinky. But def when I saw them in 04 during the subliminal versus era Im pretty sure he was playing black charvel san dimas guitars before he signed w/ fender. Besides Eddie Van Halen, Jim Root was a big inspiration for me growing up playing guitar in the early 00's in high school and was the guitarist that turned me onto Charvel guitars.
If I could play half as good as Jim Root, I would be eternally grateful to God for that gift. He is one of the most likeably down to earth famous musicians. My only wish though is for his other artist models to have the upgrades (he deserves it) this one has which is to have both the Graphite Reinforcements and Side Luminlays.
Congratulations to charvel after Guthrie Govan and Joe Duplantier another amazing guitarist came to your family but I request charvel to provide a fixed bridge version also
Yeah I would get one if it didn’t have a floyd. Floyds are fun but they’re a pain to set up and tune and I almost never really use the bar at all on the Dean ML I own. I’ll probably end up hardtailing it
