I could listen to this dude all day long. His intelligence about his gear and tone and how he describes it all is something that I find so fascinating.
+JohnnyMrHattersmith im more a blues experimental kinda player, but slipknot both Mick and jim are some of my fav guitar players ever. They know their craft well
Things you cannot see:
1. Air
2. Someone's thoughts
3. Ghosts
4. *Mick without he's glasses or mask*
His*. But your comment is still pretty funny
5. California without Marlon Brando's eyes
@@VideoGamePlay369 😂
Easily one of the most underrated guitarists in metal. The man is fucking insane.
He is nothing compared for eg. Nergal, Peter, and King,
Demost is that a fact?
Yup
Demost Damn. And here I thought I was entitled to an opinion. Stupid me.
Yes, you're dumb xD
indeed. I saw him live and his attitude on stage is awesome, he played an entire song standind still looking at one point only moving his hand lol
I like how he said that you can sound great in your bedroom with a little practice amp and a boss metal zone. That is legit my setup right now!
I think weve all had that setup at 1 point or another lol. I know I did.
HorrorNightsFan13 My setup rn as well XD
+HorrorNightsFan13 More importantly, he noted that if you're gonna be playing in a band, to be heard in a mix, you need those Mid Frequencies, othewise you're not gonna be heard.
i have just a fender champion 110 and i can get killer tones out of it
You can, but it's very difficult. Crank the mids up, not the gain. Get half of your gain from the pedal and half from the amp. Straddle two pickups for your solo tone. If you do that, you could even play small gigs with that rig.
he describes guitar tone so simply and straight foward and then you listen to alot of other guitarists talk about their tone and they dont make any sense
I'm a little taken aback at how articulate he is. Very cool discovery.
I love how well spoken and balanced Jim and Mick are... they're awesome.
Geez, you need some serious stamina to play riffs that fast and tight and not hit a bad note.
Some are difficult but i'm playing regulary for 1 year now and it's not that hard if you're doing it with your heart ^^
of course he got a lot
but it gets easier the more passion you have
MrBlackMysterious Passion doesn't stop you sounding like shit if you can't play it.
it's easier because you have the will to learn everything
MrBlackMysterious
Persistence is far more important, practice then taking a solid listen to your playing and listen for mistakes and focusing on those specific errors in your playing will do you far better...
Damn he is a fucking robot on the riff`s. I think this goes to anyone who thinks he is a bad player.
nice picture
Lol U too
And he has got amazing solos !
Impressive how articulate he is in all aspects of playing dynamics and audio mixing and recording.
He makes it look so easy and effortless
dude. hes such a bad ass. i nvr really realized how complex there shit wuz and how good of a guitarist he is.
Mick has to be the tightest thrash rhythm player out there
Dylan Edwards slipknot is not thrash. Slipknot is alternative nu metal
slipknot is slipknot
Indeed
He's also a solid lead player.
Pretty much agreed
That amp sounds great, so many options, awesome!
Amazing riff work
I have such a crush on Mick. I love that he can't stop playing his guitar!!!
I do too, Seven is just so badass. Love him so much.
Wow...he's a lot better of a guitarist than what most people give him credit for!!! :O
i love the markers he has on the top of the neck
1:16. Vendetta. Such an awesome song, I wish they would play it live
I love how he's all chill in person and on stage he's a fucking headbanging, monster.lol
looks awesome sounds even better
Awww his voice ♥
Absolutely awesome ❤️
Bad-ass player! Damn he is tight, love his style.
Where can i get the Hi definition version of the footage of Mick tracking rhythms for all hope is gone in the studio?
it is uploaded here in 360? Is it property of Rivera amps?
what a metal beast
damn i could watch him play forever
I would love to try this amp.. Im not big into slipknot, the only good cd was vol. 3... But this amp sounds great.
there are a bunch of great guitar players in the world in all music types but mick is just a beast warrior when it comes to his sounds and is definately influencing other great bands to come
Mr. Seven is just so fucking badass. He seems to really know what he's talking about too.
sick riff at the beggining
He has such a fascinating and unique style of playing.
Wow, what is the Song at the Beginning of the Clip?
its amazing !!
+Fritz Sailer Vendetta off All Hope Is Gone
@Exmortus100 May be an optical trick with the black-white binding.
You can sound legit with a big amp and a metal zone if you use it right. I run it straight from my guitar to the amps input and get an insanely killer tone out of my Marshall DSL 100. I cut the gain out completely on the pedal and turn the drive up and it tightens up the tone while still keeping all the bottom end
awsome hes my hero
Very cool!
yes please i would like one of his amps:)
Slipknot inspired me! funny thing I never learned one of their songs lol and now I play bass lolz!
Ripping it up on Vendetta is fun as hell.
fucking love that Gematria riff.
I love that I have to watch a commercial to be able to watch what is essence is a (amp) commercial. 3:51 makes it worth it though...
Look at this man shred! Heavy heavy heavy heavy
@spitfiremk2ify no, because this footage of the studio was on the dvd that was included with the album, and craig was censored in that dvd
lol at 3:38 i thought it was sped up...
but the the sound comes in...
geez he's got fast trills
He looks like a mix of Silent Bob and Vinnie Paul lol Dude jams though!!
I haven't cut my toenails since 1986. They are now over 25" in length. They are very curly and knobbly. They are browny yellow. I never wash my socks. I have been wearing these dark green socks for eight months now. I sleep in them. They haven't been off my feet in all that time. I will stick a black olive on the end of each toenail. You can come to my house, remove my green socks and eat the black olives. Pull them from my toenails with your teeth.
@@falseteeth5621 I know I'm really late but. HOW IS THAT RELATED TO HIS COMMENT?
WTF
@Mohamed636 That's his number in Slipknot but on the Slipknot website it explains it a little better.
@jantisoy It's the song Vendetta from the All Hope Is Gone album.
@Blackhawk5656 its Vendetta, from All Hope Is Gone -album
loooks pretty sick actually!
the songs they showed was Vendetta one of their new song \m/
seems like a really cool guy
Mick Thompson ! \m/
that big building at the beginning is that his house or a studio
Why is mick not on a 7 string, and why doesnt jim play bass? their numbers would be perfect!
+Burning Innocence umm why he dont play 7 ... well first of his strings are thick enought to handle low tuning ....
He once said 7-strings are just a trend
He's warmed up to sevens recently, but he said he won't record with one until they record something with that low of a tuning. He tunes his sixes to Drop B and drop A, so he probably won't use a seven until they drop to G or some shit like that.
+JohnnyMrHattersmith i play in drop A with a 7 string, thats like standerd for a 7
Noel Crowley Not sure why. It would make sense to me if he switched to sevens, but he wants to stick with sixes.
that riff at the beginning...
anyone knows what song that was???
what a beast!!!!
@music666choke thank you very much :)
what's that sound he do on 6:12 and 6:22. someone answer me please!
He is has the right jersey on!
Hes got that whole Kerry King thing going, even the raiders cap, K.K. in the 90s Im sayin ofcoarse the shades inside also. KK never takes his off, same with Simmons. wish I had this rivera amp & cabnet.
can anyone tell me which riff mick is playing at the very start?
You left out MFKR (Mate Feed Kill Repeat). Great album actually.
I'm not a Slipknot fan by any means, but they do have some catchy songs.
Mick is a Monster ! OMG.
Can someone tell me what song Mick's playing between 5:10-5:31 please? Thank you...
does anyone know what song that hes playing at the very begining?
i love how they spell his name right in the video but wrong in the title and description
I MUST HAVE THAT AMP!
When he is talking what black guitar is that?
i like his signature acoustic
What's the name of the song he plays at the beginning of the video ?
thats why his arm and band number 7
@lolocska1995 if you're talking bout the beginning should be Vendetta ,the second one is Gematria(The Killing Name) all the way,
I want this amp
what is the whole Seven thing with mick thompson mean?
Holy shit it's Mick without sunglasses on at 0:07!
That opening riff is 11th Hour by Lamb of God.
@TheBloodyjustice Anyone know what the song is he plays then?
It would be cool if he maid a solo album with other people what do you think?
i'm not really that much of a Slipknot fan... but Mick Thompson is a badass :D
Dude knows his guitar + gear
i buyed that white ibanez guitar on christmas , it took long to convince my dad :p

what would the price be for one of thoose?
ive never seen that white guitar in any shops...damn.. i want it
song at the beginnign sounds like night falls fast by arch enemy
i would just love to be in a studio and produce there stuff, just would be so awsome, not only listening to them and watching them play one to one but producing there stuff aswell so its got part of you in it. just so sick.
no not colour .the colour quickly fades off. what guage do you use and what tuning?
@M0NsTer20010 Not sure what video you were watching, but he's definitely got long hair in this one. It's pulled back through most of it, but he's got long hair.
Micks so badass :D
@theallmightyham What do you mean? Mick is playing songs from the AHIG album here, nothing else.
I tried this amp out. My local shop has a used one and I plugged into it with an Epi Les Paul. I think he's got the bottom end all out of whack. In metal, when I am chugging on the low E (tuned to C+) I expect the amp to move air, a sound that is more felt than heard. I could not get that to happen with this head. Oh, it was loud, but it was just loud to your ears, not to your chest. I don't like that. Perhaps it was just the guitar I was using, but it had a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge, so I don't think it was the guitar really. Anyways, it does sound great on the clean channel and with a Boss Metal Zone Pedal on the clean channel I got what I wanted, but I could not get it with just the amp. And for $3000 new ($2600 the one I played on) you would expect perfection all the way around.
That's the point of this amp though, Mick has specifically tailored this amp to be heard in a live mix. As explained in the video, the sound that you were trying to achieve with the head would get lost in a professional mix. In a live setting guitars occupy specific frequency ranges, that should avoid crossing over into bass or drum frequencies, the whole band sounds huge as a result. Guitar sounds that have too much low end tend get lost in the mix, because a half decent bass rig usually has a lot more power and clean headroom on tap than your typical guitar rig. As a result the bass player drowns you out.
sick ass guitar
All hail Mick Thompson!!!!!!!!
