Woodturning - Three Cores Done Three Different Ways
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2024
- Woodturning - In this video I make three different items from three different cores from previous projects. This is why you need a coring rig, it would of been a shame to see these turned to shavings and then thrown into the trash! Please like and share with your friends.

All the bowls are now sold, thank you all!
Congrats on passing 125K! Regarding ASMR- I know a lot of people like those kinds of sounds, for me it makes my tinnitus worse, and I hate sounds in general. So even the little clips where you are not talking and we hear the lathe or sanding, etc. is agony to me and I have to hit mute until you start talking again on the captions. So if you do the ASMR videos, can you start another channel for those? It's like nails on a blackboard for me. Honestly, this video had too much of the sounds for me-- I like the narration all the way through.
Thats outstanding Jim! I hope your sales continue to go up! If you have a web-page where you link your videos, I hope you are posing your inventory for sale! Keep it up! Beautiful work!
Not surprising.
Congratulations, 125,000! Thank you, Designer Epoxy, for more Hypershift, Hunter tools and Jim Sprague! Oh, and accolades to Dwayne, Thor, and bucket for entertaining us all the way here!! We love what you do Jim!!
Thank you very much!
I like how you brought each bowl something different. Its neat that the hyper shift didn't mix all the way with the green, it amps it up to another level. Thank you for showing us your work!
Glad you like them! Thanks so much!
These bowls are proof that size isn’t everything. Each is beautiful in its own way.
Agreed! Thank you very much!
So beautiful and each piece completely unique. I am running out of superlatives to describe your work!
Wow, thank you!
Hi everyone from Jacksonville FL 🤗💚
Welcome!
Love that you did something different with each bowl, flexing your creative muscles 🥰 happy to hear they all have homes
Thank you!! 😊
That sour apple green Designer Epoxy bowl has my vote
Thank you very much!
A big milestone with a video showing off a practical way to reduce wastage and even recoup some money. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Will do!
Sprague Woodturning has been pondering the potential bear problem on their new property. Now announcing a new idea that will probably never come to reality: On-site Apprenticeship Program for the New Brunswick Bears! Jim is always looking for practical solutions to problems: "If their going to hang around the house, why not teach them a trade!" (Negotiations may be underway with Hunter Tool Systems to beef up their gouges or the bears could just use their claws). Beautiful work, Jim. Thank you!
lol. Thank you very much!
Congratulations on the rise to £125k subscribers. They are well deserved given how good your content is, on a foundation of your knowledge and application.
Thank you so much!
3 great bowls, product from leftovers, Designer Epoxy
Woodturning - My Largest Pour To Date! (They Call Me Mellow Yellow)
ua-cam.com/video/h36Ei0kWMdY/v-deo.html
They're all nice, but my favorite is the one with the lid. The epoxy adds to the wood without overwhelming it.
Congratulations on the new milestone!
I agree! Thank you very much!
Kept thinking that each one was my favourite when you showcased each one 😂 All amazing and unique. Congrats on 125K! 🇬🇧
Thanks so much!
Thank you for showing us these bowls. All three are gorgeous as always.
You are so welcome! Thanks
Congrats on hitting 125K subscribers, Jim. Getting a coring system is my next big purchase. I hate the idea of turning beautiful wood into shavings. It would also help me keep the shop a lot cleaner! Thanks for making this video. It is making my purchase a little closer.
Designer epoxy
Great! You won’t be disappointed. Thanks
Can't wait to see the new colors! Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
Sorry for the late response. Super busy. I love the bowls and I appreciate you showing how the cores can be utilized. You rock Jim
Thanks so much!
Congrats on 125K subscribers! The 3 little bowls were fun to watch being made and look so cute! ❤🎉 Thank for the video Jim!
Thanks so much!
Love the ring dish, Jim. Perfect for a ring or two and bracelets. Keep up the great work.
Thanks 👍
This was a really interesting one. Neat to see the three different turnings. My husband and I really enjoy your vlogs, they are entertaining as well as a learning experience. We don’t turn wood but can appreciate art. ❣️
Awesome! Thank you!
It's lovely to see the ' oddments' being used. 😊
Indeed! Thanks so much!
Designer epoxy. Gratz on 125k
Thanks again!
125,000!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations, Jim! Well deserved for the hard work and gorgeous items you create! I can't wait to see the new Hypershifts from Designer Epoxy. They're gonna rock!
Thank you so much!
They are all beautiful. The ring bowl is my favourite, love the sparkly glitz
Thank you very much!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! One for each! Congratulations on 125k!!!! 🎉love watching the segments that run real time, mesmerizing. ❤ Designer Epoxy
Thank you so much!!
I actually like the Easter grass bowl you did here better. Gorgeous
Thanks
I am always amazed at how the colors turn out. At first when I see what you are going to use I am skeptical. Great work, I enjoy watching.
Thank you very much!
Congrats on the 125K!! Beautiful trio! Designer Epoxy!
Thank you! Cheers!
Jim: they all look really nice. Good to see that nothing gets wasted. The new colours are going to be a treat for all of us when you come up with a plan. The lidded bowl is interesting to look at. All the best. PS: Leave it to the government to mess up something that has been working for years. Makes posting season a real joy!!
Yes, it’s pretty frustrating! Thank you very much!
Jim! I'm on a lot of down time, just had heart surgery. I get a great escape watching your videos. I'm in Alberta but originally from The Chi, NB & past member of ye olde N'orShore! Best of wishes when you finally get home! Looking forward to seeing that corner of the world being shared with your channel! Cheers!
Great well soon! Thank you very much!
Sometimes I can't decide on my favorite but not this week! All three are cool but the black and gold lidded dish is the standout for me. LOVE that color combo. Excited to see the new hypershifts in action!
Thank you very much!
Familiar process this week. My husband cored the big bowls and I finished turning the cores. Happy memories.
That is awesome! Thanks!
Three very interesting projects! However, the box/covered dish is my favorite!
Congratulations on 125,000! Well done!
Thanks so much!
Lovely easter grass bowl. You'll definitely have to do it again.
Definitely! Thanks!
Very nice demonstration of making different items from similar cores.
Thank you very much!
Love em all, but the ring bowl is my fav…the lidded bowl is my second fav…love your work…congrats on the 175,000 mark!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks but I’m only at 125K, lol.
lol…sorry…just consider it a foreshadowing…lol…it’s in your future…👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Terrific trio Jim, my favorite is the lidded dish. Designer Epoxy
Thanks so much!
Designer epoxy I was just about to comment that you should have no problem selling them and then I see they are sold! Good job..and congratulations on 125
Thank you very much!
I really like seeing three different applications of the cores - that designer epoxy is really working on all 3. I like the lidded dish idea, I need to give that a shot with a larger, deeper blank.
Yes you do, thanks!
I love all 3 but that Easter grass bowl just tickles my magpie brain. Love it!!
Thank you so much!
I like how you walk us through everything.
Thank you very much!
Amazing to see 3 unique pieces made in lieu of a pile of shavings on the floor :)
Thank you very much!
Very cool to see the cores getting used up. We're here to hear you waffle, no need for asmr lmao... can't wait to see the new hypershifts...
Thank you very much!
They are all lovely. The one with the "Easter grass" is my favorite.
Thank you very much!
I think the green is my favorite, but they are all beautiful. Coring is definitely worth it.
It is! Thanks!
Each bowl or letted dish is stunning on their own. They're just beautiful. I don't know what more to say.
Wow, thank you!
Thanks for the reminder on the Easter grass bowl, I have to go watch again.
Thanks so much!
Fabulous bowls Jim! A great way to use the cores you cut from previous bowls. Cheers
Thank you very much!
They all turned out so cute! I can't pick a favorite. What a great way to make good use of what otherwise would have simply been "leftovers." Thanks for another great video! PS I am STOKED for all that hypershift! The more bling the better! Wheee!
Thank you very much!
Proof that a coring rig is a must! Very nice bowls from what would have been shavings . Designer Epoxy
Thank you very much!
I like all 3 bowls. Designer Epoxy really works well with wood to make unique looking projects. The dish with the lid is really nice as I like more wood in a project like this.
Thanks so much!
I need the get me a coring rig to be day. Can't ngrats on subs and thank all the sponsors, especially designer epoxy. The bowls look amazing.
Thank you very much!
Nice job, you had 3 nice looking bowls and made money by not picking the shavings off the floor. The centre saver was a good addition to the your tools. Designer Epoxy
Yes, it is! Thanks so much!
Future Design Challenge: classic milk tea BOBA TEA bowl, or...OR! giant plastic cup shape vase.
Thanks for the suggestion
The Easter grass bowl is my favorite, like sparkly confetti! I got all giddy when you showed the new Hyper Shift colors! Congratulations on 125,000 subscribers!
Thanks so much!
Designer epoxy. Good job finding additional uses for a variety. Im calling the green one mountain dew magic😂
I like it! Thanks so much!
Very cool bowls.. The green one reminds me of those super bright little bouncy balls we used to beg our parents to buy from the gumball type machines at the supermarket.. The ones we would then lose as soon or before we got home. :)
Ha ha! So true! Lost many of them myself! Thanks!
Designer epoxy - I've always been taught that not wasting is the first step in recycling. This whole project is just that. I am impressed. You mentioned grinding down several gouges a year. I would love for you to do an episode on sharpening. I have a decent grinder and whett stones, and i can't afford a fancy sharpener. As such, a sharpening and cutter tutorial would be fantastic.
I made a video on this a while back. Here is the link: Woodturning - How I Sharpen My Woodturning Tools
ua-cam.com/video/bGmFsXl5Qug/v-deo.html
I think the ring bowl was my favorite, then the one with the top. Fun project to watch. 💕
Awesome! Thank you!
The lidded dish is my favorite 😍
Thank you very much!
The Easter bowl is my favorite. Designer epoxy
Good choice! Thanks
Amazing craftsmanship, once again you have displayed phenomenal work and an amazing ability as a master of wood Turner. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us. I greatly appreciate it. Have a great week.
Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
These all turned out beautiful Jim. I’ve seen all the original videos and it’s nice to see these designs again! Congrats on selling them so fast. (I’m not a fan of ASMR, but you do you, it won’t get me to NOT watch your vids)
Thanks a bunch!
They all turned out beautiful. Congrats on selling all the bowls. 🎉🎉
Thanks so much!
As always, your skill and artistry on full display, have to say the ring bowl is my favorite to look at.
Thank you very much!
Designer epoxy, beautiful as usual. I love your work and I look forward to your videos weekly. Thank you Jim
Thank you very much!
Wow I’ve been watching for about 4 years and can’t believe how your channel has grown!! Congrats!
Learned a lot from you frig kiln hot glue mounting inlay jim and of course Designer Epoxy
Wow! Thank you very much for supporting my channel over the years! Much appreciated!
Designer Epoxy. All of them are beautiful. Another great video. Great way to show how the coring rig will pay for itself selling the cores as beautiful small pieces.
Thank you! Cheers!
Loved these. So much better than the cores just being turned away. Designer epoxy.
Thank you! Cheers!
All three are just wonderful. I think the green bowl just grabs the eye. Both of the others are beautiful as well. Congratulations on 125,000 subscribers! Hopefully, your home will get some good interest soon. I'll pray for that!
Thank you very much!
All three bowls look great! I love the demonstration of being able to use parts of the original blanks that would have been turned away otherwise. Looking forward to seeing those new hypershift colors in the Designer Epoxy.
Thanks so much!
these all look great! I love the look of the hyper shift in two of the bowls and the colored "paper" in the other. Designer epoxy is definitely upping their game with the new hyper shift colors.
Thank you very much!
Jim, these three cores turned out really lovely, well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
3 very beautiful bowls! They are all 3 beautiful but the 1 with the Easter grass is amazing! It looks like it has jewels mixed in it!
Agreed, thanks!
Love all three and am looking forward to all of those new Designer Epoxy colors. Congrats on 125,000.
Thank you so much!
I like all three. equally. Well, done. I enjoyed your comments and products as usual. Thanks for the fun. I am looking forward to seeing your new house and shop. I hope all goes well for you.
Us too, lol. Thanks
Love these little bonus bowls. Looking forward to seeing the new hypershift. The paper fair bowl almost looks better than its parent
Thank you very much!
Loving all 3 but that green has stolen this show - beautiful.
The black with gold is stunning too
Thank you so much!
Designer Epoxy. Congrats on 125k and the green bowl is the most interesting one.
Thank you!
Yes to a few ASMR videos, would love those sounds!!!
Thank you very much!
I love the Island burl bowl, the green is just beautiful, the lidded dish is really lovely and my favorite is the very busy bowl with the tinsel in it, Jim you never cease to make beautiful items, now that spring is here I'm sure you'll get more views for your home, good luck with that
Thanks so much! 😊
We own the "Christmas " bowl ( that the ring bowl came from) and it is beautiful. We get lots of compliments on it and introduce people to Jim's channel.
Jim. Love those pieces. I can see the confetti bowl as a jewelry bowl for my wife. Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks! Will do!
I love the burl on the bottom of the green bowl... and those islands are so cute...
Thank you very much!
Jim, although some of your turnings are not my style, I thoroughly enjoy watching your artistry. Especially since you are willing to share all aspects, good and challenging. Keep it up.
Awesome, thank you so much!
Jim, very beautiful I just put my first designer epoxy vase in the pressure pot. Now I understand why you hot glue the wood to the bucket. I would have never believed the log would float. OH MY PANIC when I checked it this morning the duck tape had come loose allowing it to float. Thankfully deep cast has a longer cure time. I am excited to look at it in 72 hours. Thanks Jim you are an inspiration. Designer epoxy deep cast is easy to work with.
Yup, you’ll only do that once, lol. Thank you very much!
Conrats on 125K Jim. See you next Friday.
Thanks so much!
I love all three of the bowls. Each are a piece of art.
Thank you very much!
Love these cores. Congrats that they are all sold.
Gone in the first hour, thanks.
I love all 3 of these pieces! The green really pops!
Thank you very much!
Oh I love your bowls. I actually think my favorite one is the multicolored glittery one. They’re all beautiful though. I love the lid. I love that your lid lay flat. It gives it such a unique style and personality.
Designer epoxy
Thank you very much!
Congratulations on the growing channel we all come to love.. Would like to see each one of them new hyper shifts individually with the darker background so we can see the true beauty they each have to offer❤❤
The new ones are meant to be used with clear epoxy. I will definitely try each one individually.
Beautiful little gems . I can't make up my mind whether I prefer the green or the lidded dish..... They are all gorgeous.
Thanks so much 😊
Yay Designer Epoxy! Can't wait to see the new hypershift colours used.
Thank you very much!
I love the Easter Grass one!! Nice job on all of them! Designer Epoxy! Congratulations on 125,000!
Thanks so much!
Designer Epoxy
Outstanding video, great results as is your norm. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Nice technique with the Sawzall, very effective. It's another win for Designer Epoxy, excellent product.
Thank you very much!
Lovely bowls, congratulations on tipping over on the subscriber count. Nice of the companies to support you on that too.
Thank you kindly
Designer epoxy, the turnings are very nice
Glad you like them! Thanks
You are by far my favorite Turner. I very much enjoy your talk over, your candor, and content!
Wow, thank you! I appreciate that!
