- A very highly requested topic on my streams has been "what are the best new vendor legendary weapons?" Well, I obviously have not played with all of the weapons yet, but I thought it would be alright to give a preliminary review of all of the weapons. If you have more questions, feel free to ask me on Twitter or in my streams. However, I don't have many doubts in most of these preliminary evaluations.

Hey DattoDoesDestiny, on hand cannons, The Chance (FWC) that can be bought does include field scout - you dismissed that one for only having 6 rds. Does require using Field Scout as opposed to another perk, but it is there as an option.
Literally didn't understand that TFWPKY 1969 was "the fall will probably kill you" until watching this video a second time. First time around i was like, "There ain't no hadcannon named that!". Second time was a "oooooohhhhh" moment.

In my opinion, for the people (crucible auto rifle) is the best vendor auto rifle because of the glass half full perk and its low recoil. It is somewhat similar to the shadow price.
Great overview, my only issue would be that you left out against all odds (heavy machine gun) which is basically a 331 swarm, only even higher impact at the cost of a bit of fire rate, but if you like the swarm then you're already down with the low rate of fire. it also can be upgraded to hold 50 rounds in a magazine which at that rate of fire/impact is an insane amount of damage and possibly the longest sustained fire time for any weapon in the game from a single magazine..
I got the chance random and upgraded it to 13 shots. That gun is so op with 13 shots, more damage after kills, and increased reload speed after a precision kil
There is a common theme with a lot of new weapons - if you happen to find one with Field Scout, it is a keeper. This applies to Three Little Words, Up For Anything, The Satierenne Rapier (that's what it's called if you ask me) and especially The Devil You Don't. When you get Firefly or Glass half full on top of that, you are in butter.
I have two to the morgue, but in solar form. Its upgrades are amazing for PvP and PvE because it has extended range, and its clincher is that if I aim the bullets fire closer together. IT IS AMAZING. And I got it from a blue engram.
Datto, I primarily use shotguns in PvP I have used the comedian, found verdict, invective, universal remote. But then I received a strange comedian, its upgrades include aiming down sights tightens the shot and I have found it works the best in pvp
so i dont know exactly how i got here, but i guess itll be nice to say this. Thanks datto. When you uploaded this i was 10~ish and i remember watching you if i was ever stuck on something and i still do. I hot one way ticket in a drop, its first perk is the same but the last perk is "reload faster when mag is empty". Since there is only one shot this rocket reloads like crazy each time I fire it!

Secret handshake is amazing in pvp it has so much range because you can aim for the head and the shots all compact around the head
I really like the up for anything, its like a faster firing shadow price
So would this mean that the safest purchase from vanguard for clearing most content reliably and easily would be the scout rifles? or are those just a best in category(of scout rifles)?

Hey datto, I got red hand XI from the nightfall, and since I really like hand cannons should I buy TFWPKY or a machine gun?
I got the new Crucible machine gun from an engram, and It's pretty solid for PVE in my opinion. It's pretty much the Suros Regime of machine guns.
I was saving up marks for tfwpky and I had a ton to go and was really dreading farming them, I got it in my crucible rank up package. Nearly cried from joy, better than most RNG I've ever had.

Hey guys, I have a question? where have you looted praedyths revenge during the raid, and what difficulty? Im missing only that weapon and I want it so bad, any help?
I have been getting my vanguard rank up to get a weapon and i would like one i could use in both of the raids. I dont know if i should get the Up For Anything or the Badger CCL. Which should i get?
What do you think about the crucible heavy machine gun called "against all odds" it kills people so fast in crucible. Im shocked you didnt mention it...
I got a for the people with perks that can max out the stability, and it rocks in PVP, an upgraded version of the shingen series
Datto do u think xur should upgrade raid weapons like he does with exotic weapons? if not doesn't that make raid weapons useless in the near future..
You should give us your thoughts on the new raid weapons after they all drop and the necrochasam after its fully upgraded.

Since they can be rerolled to almost any upgrade tree id love to hear your potential thoughts. Ex. Timurs lash with field scout send it and zen moment or something.
Badger ccl is an absolute beast weapon. Favorite scout rifle by far.

I think the lower impact higher RoF are the way to go for auto rifles. It fills the role they are meant to fill. If you are using a slow firing/high impact auto rifle (which usually have smaller mag too) you might as well go with a hand cannon or scout rifle to get more bang for you buck in those departments.
That said For the People is probably the best AR you can buy right now. Getting different rolls is crit though I got an Up for Anything w/ increased stability, range acurracy/field scout and 3rd eye. Dont think it gets much better than that.
The Chance (FWC hand cannon) starts with 6, but has Field Scout (ammo) that will bring it to 13 rounds. Also has Perfect Balance, but that's pretty much useless on hand cannons. I think The Chance is worth getting, if you're with Future War Cult... Thanks for the updates Datto.

for snipers I bought the iron banner one and it is like a higher damaging paredyths because it has firefly perk revenge but it only has 3 bullets but if you can land your shot definitely recommend it
I'm set in the fusion rifles division.. Have Murmur and got a Trolley Problem drop with Void burn. No perk that increases charge rate, bit I use it mainly in PvE.
Is there any way to get the old vendor guns?

I had that badger thing it shot too slow and the precision kill explosion thing dint always work i could see the heads pop off of fallen but they didn't always explode. I broke it cause i got the multi tool
I got TFWPKY, Valedictorian and Harms Way alll from engram drops, and I got some pretty decent perks on them. TFWPKY has Who's Next and Spray and Play, plus Send It so it has a really good range. My Valedictorian has Clown Cartridge and three shells in a mag, and my Harms Way has arc damage, Hammer Forged and Counter Balance. I guess I got lucky with my perks.
is it still possible to buy the old weapons? i really want the "Devil you know" or are the gone

I like the devil you don't only because mine rolled with field scout. Which changed the ammo from 5 to 13.
The Chance fwc hand cannon actually does come with field scout when purchasing, and it's actually very good once you have unlocked the main perks, quite dissapointed you just overlooked it because of information which is actually wrong.
Okay so my the devil you don't has field scout is that worth me using it over that other hand cannon ?

Hey Datto, I'm wondering why you didn't mention mention the saterienne rapier scout rifle from crucible? It has the same perks as fatebringer (firefly and outlaw) and a great stat spread. It's way better than all of the other vendor scout rifles imo

Badger CCL is amazing. I've been using it more than any other gun since I got it last week.
I got mine with explosive rounds and firefly. Got that weapons is beastly.
I got both Up For Anything and Payback SOS from drops/Vanguard packages. Payback SOS is awful. Already turned it into energy. Even with stability improvements it's uncontrollable. Up For Anything is actually somewhat decent and it has become my go to when I can't use Suros. Increasing the stability and using Field Scout makes this weapon feel much better. Not saying it's the best of what's on offer but I enjoy using it. I think I may look into Scout Rifles though. I used to roll purely pulse rifles but getting a VIsion of Confluence a couple of weeks ago from the raid has definitely made me a scout rifle convert.
Co-signed! Up For Anything was surprising stable right out of the box, and I was using it with no perks and getting precision damage. It reminds me of a weaker version of Hard Light, high RoF but not as much impact. I still have Vanquisher though and that's my go-to when I'm not using Suros Regime or Hard Light, but Up For Anything gets the job done, and after I max it to 331 I'll likely use that when I need to free up an exotic slot.

VoC is definitely still one of the top tier weapons around, it's just so useful in every situation. If you're looking for a good pulse rifle with the new content, look at 'Time on Target'. I managed to pull one from a Vanguard rank up and it's definitely a solid option. High rate of fire, good stability, great reload, works wonders for a Gunslinger Hunter with Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance. Reminds of me of the FAMAS from MW2. Very nice weapon.
Kaiser I might have to check it out. I do mainly run as a Gunslinger Hunter. Super Pox VLO was my favourite gun before I nabbed VoC. Very stable, insanely huge magazine (42 for a pulse rifle is huge imo). I loved it.
A few months ago I found a rare shotgun called Agnes III. Low fire rate, high impact AND range. And if you fire without controlling the recoil you will be looking at the sky in no time! If anyone gets lucky enough to get this unique shotgun, try it in PvP, you will hopefully like it! "Old Agnes says that this is no world for half measures."
I got the scout rifle from New Monarchy called the Crusader, has firefly and zen moment a really good scout rifle

Wow most of the weapons you recommended I already have and I can see why you recommend them.
I use shotguns over fusion rifles in the crucible and generally use judgement vi and the comedian (don't have found verdict). I got secret handshake the other day in a vanguard package and its actually pretty fun to use. The rate of fire is sick and you can still quite easily get 1 shot kills with it.
ive found with Gun slinger hunters The devil you dont know is still incredibly good, because of the pricision kill bonus ( which increases reload speed stacking up to 3 times ) with its already quick reload make it fine to use since the reload is almost non existant
datto what are you're thought on having re forge on legendaries.
I actually got the trolley problem from a blue engram. The only problem I have with the weapon is its slow charge time. While the version that is purchaseable has a upgrade for that, mine unfortunately doesn't. Without that upgrade for charge time, I mainly use it for pve.

I don't know if anyone in the comments has given numbers for the Badger CCL, but it is three head shots to kill in regular crucible.
My Badger's perks did not add anything to impact at the top of the magazine, they were Firefly and Last Round, along with Custom Optics as the final choice.

I purchased another nitc and it says 20 magazine but mine didn't reload to 20 but to 19. Not sure if it's a glitch but it's still a very good scout rifle

Why would you ignore the FWC handcannon which now has field scout from the vendor???
Using a nearly fully Upgrade Black Hammer in IB(Missing the last 2 upgrades to max out its Damage) So far landing 1 shot is almost enough to actually kill a target in one hit, I've noticed it leaves people with an extremely small amount of HP left which leads me to believe if upgraded any higher it could potentially one shot someone. That's just a guess on my part though.
I have the new monarchy fusion rifle and it has extremely high stability that can be maxed with the perfect balance perk and also does some decently high damage; I would recommend it for PvE(it is not for sale but with luck you get it from an engram or the crucible). Also the badger ccl is really good in PvE environments but due to its slightly (but noticeable) slower fire rate than other scout rifles it isnt the best option for the crucible.
Will the pre-Dark Below weapons ever return,I kinda want a grim citizen/shadow price.Hopefully it's not too late
Super Pox VLO is pretty darn sweet. Anybody else have an opinion on it? Mine came with feeding frenzy and third eye
Here's the info on Badger CCL: 73 head, 49 body.
Kills are 3 head, 2 head 1 body, or 4 body. I have been curious if this needs Heavy Caliber (+1 dmg to shots) but tests show it does not. I have killed ppl with these damage variations.
The base stability on it is like having a Gheleon's Demise (same Impact&Firerate) with Fitted Stock.
You want to perk this to have max reload.
Comparing it to rerolled Gheleon's Demise: I don't know if Zen Moment would help it further because it feels perfect as is, because of the low fire rate; you can't fire it faster to cause it to not return to the center correctly. So, if a gun returns to center by the time you fire the next shot, that gun is stable enough imo. In a reroll Gheleon's Demise you can always do 3rd eye in place of Mulligan for pvp. If the reroll had Fitted Stock with Luck in the Chamber or Zen Moment, you could use that Gheleon's Demise instead of this. Until then, this is the scout rifle to go.
Also Datto, comments on heavy machine gun from Crucible, Against All Odds? Same Impact & firerate as Jolder's Hammer. It does not have Aggressive Ballistics which helps Jolder's to hit 64 body 80 heads. Different from Jolder's is good base range vs low stability. But this has Persistance and a low firerate. Field Scout, Grenadier. Looks really good.
Others: The Trolley fusion rifle looks good with highest impact for charge rate. Gonna have to test the stability.
Two to the Mourge is like a Judgement VI with Hammer Forged. Highest possible impact, good range. Must have imo.

I think they need to check their magazine counters because I got Another NITC from hitting rank 5 w/ Vanguard, and got outlaw, explosive rounds, and third eye, but the mag counter says 20. It's only 19, every time I reload. It also gives me 200 rounds, as if it is supposed to be 20.
Actually, the Vanguard sniper LDR 5001 is very good PVP and PVE, It actually has the same Impact and Rate of fire as Icebreaker, but has much better stability. Also the purchasable version has very good bonuses (Clown Cartridge and Unflinching) are very good, It also has all 3 round types (Armor piercing, Skip, and High Caliber.) Making it very versatile. Also the Crucible Heavy Machine gun Against All odds is also very good, it has the same feel as the Swarm, but with a slightly higher rate of fire. Also the purchasable version comes with Field Scout, increasing the Mag size from 26, to 50 rounds per magazine, and makes you able to carry over 3 mags worth of ammunition.
Just want to say that b line trauma is actually amazing
If you get the chance, buy the "against all odds" machine gun. Its like the swarm with lower clip size and higher damage.

I have the Badger CCL and it take 3 shots in PVP, and i have The Devil You dont. They both have different upgrades because they were drops. My Devil is really good because its upgrades are all for reload
I just got The Devil You Dont from a drop, and it had the max ammo perk with it. After reaching the perk, it had 13 shots. So now, I'm actually glad I got it. Too bad everyone wont get that perk. I just don't understand why Bungie even would have a damn hand cannon with only a 5rd clip. That's ridiculous. Come on now, Bungie.
My VALEDICTORIAN 9-44 has field scout and cluster bombs I got it out of a legendary engram from doing the daily mission on level 30.
I like this round of auto rifles. I find stability more important for PvP than impact. Up for anything has replaced vanquisher for me as my go to PvP weapon.
Then you gonna die alot bacause shadow price and vanquisher have stability and higher impact. The high rate of fire/low impact weapons still suck for pvp
Up For Anything was the first DLC Vanguard weapon I bought, and while it functions just fine, I'd still rather use something like Fatebringer in CE. (I'm one upgrade away from Lvl.32, so attack value will be irrelevant soon enough). I also bought the LDR 5001, but I think I'll probably start neglecting it once I get the Black Hammer, which is supposed to be an absolute beast in PvE.
I got my Judgement New Monarchy shotgun from a package, and it's AMAZING. It has Hammer Forged and Rangefinder which makes me able to shoot far and it also has Grenadier which is ok. I don't use my grenades that much. I'm still saving my marks and trying to get a commendation for Vanquisher tho'. People say it's one of the best auto rifles ever.

Just in case anyone would like to know- I picked up a 'devil you don't' with field scout, and it has 13 rounds in the magazine. So if you have a 'devil you don't' with field scout, don't dismantle it.
You should try the Crucible Against All Odds MG out, Datto.
My MG18A Harm's Way has higher stability than it's firerate. It barely moves when being fired so it lands consistent critical shots on bosses
Secret Handshake and One way ticket are two really good picks if you need legendaries for PVP, both offer good perks and power and kill in one hit for the most, SH taking two depending on range but its got a good fire rate that it can still out gun most things in point blank range. I hate the Found Verdict due to its recoil and hard follow up shot, Secret Handshake has no issue here and will deal more damage with Shot Package, landing more pellets on target. I think Datto should work on buying some of these weapons and upgrading them for reviews as they start to shine when fully upgraded. p.s TDYD is decent, its surprisingly good but relies on RNG for a decent mag size. its good for PvP from what ive played but compared to PvE its out classed by Fatebringer.
I found a very likely potentional 6th chest spawn location in the Templar in the VoG I have a video of how to get to it I can send it to you but I don't know how to contact you we think it might spawn with nobody getting marked for negation or no sacrifices during the confluxes
I used to think slow firing high impact scout rifles were the way to go until I got a B-line trauma from the engrams I was hoarding for the dlc. the problem I was having before was that I couldn't handle thrall rushing me with a slower scout rifle, but the b-line still 1 shots them in the head and shoots much MUCH faster.... I thought I was going crazy when I started using the weapon and i was able to spam fire the thing. I thought it was an energy drain bonus lol. I'm sure I'd like the badger but considering I got the b-line fo free, I've been rolling with it since

I got the badger from lvl 3 vanguard package and in the second column it has Single Point Sling ( switch weapons faster, move quicker while aiming), Explosive rounds, and custom optics. Which should I pick? Pretty sure to use explosive rounds but just want to make sure
Don't use explosive rounds unless you are dreadful at getting head shots, because it heavily reduces precision damage, and in my eyes ruins the gun, so I would choose the single point sling and not the custom optics, because the Badger CCL has decent range, and you might as well use that to your advantage.
Jiggly Puff It doesn't actually make the gun do less damage on a precision shot. What it does is make a portion of the damage you deal as splash damage which has the ability to also hurt other nearby enemies. It's still the same overall amount of damage. The only catch is that if the splash damage kills the target and not the precision damage, it won't count as a precision kill meaning it could interfere with some perks like firefly.
