In this Destiny video we'll be going through the origins and complete history of factions from Destiny 1 to Destiny 2. Dead orbit, new monarchy and future war cult came a long way from being simple vendors offering some of the rarest and most powerful rewards in the game like the exotic class items and were upgraded in the taken king with even better items, but in Destiny 2 they were turned into the faction rallies which became their downfall as bungie would eventually remove them from the game... #Destiny #Destiny2

Which was the best faction? 🤔
I was always an FWC kind of player. I'd like to see Bungie create new factions especially since the story has evolved a lot since D1.
If you go by the weapons I would say Dead Orbit.
Yeah, they made FWC racist. I always loved them and their story, the machine they had, being tied to those crazy vex experiments on Venus. Dam

I wish they would have kept the factions like D1, just updated weapons or the original weapons from d1 it would have kept more engaged.
Would’ve been cool but the community would’ve lost their minds like always cuz all it was, was recolored weapons and armor with the logo of the faction put on it and with different perks, it would’ve also made the weapon pool even more bloated
@@Blue-qt8msto be fair at least the factions weapons woulda been faction specific. We currently have 3 non sunset versions of all the ikelos weapons so bloat was gonna happen anyways unfortunately.
They wouldn't keep the weapons and armor since bungie hates scifi gear being in their scifi game now they only allow ugly ridiculously chunky armor and either weird looking or ugly modern looking weapons
@@Blue-qt8msthe weapon pool is already bloated. There's a lot of weapons that have the same stats, just different perk rolls or designs. Or weapons with the same design as another weapon, just with different stats and perks. That's 90% of the entire weapons collection in D2 and about 20-30% isn't even accesible anymore because most of the shit people paid for got removed.
I'm sure adding 24 weapons and 45 pieces of armor to the game, wouldn't make other gear even more invaluable.
The gunsmith, vendor resets, xur, factions all gave something to log in and check every couple days. Getting rid of these really killed the daily log in fun for me. D1 as simple as it was had the formula. Don’t totally change what works, just refine the formula

The guardian games are such a glow down of the faction wars.
Hope one day Bungie tries factions again but with house light (replaces dead orbit), Caitel's cabal (replaces future war cult) and the awoken (replaces new monarchy). Having fallen cabal and awoken themed loot would be a good incentive to join them.

What’s interesting, after the reveal of the new exotic class items coming in TFS, it’s clear bungie didn’t forget factions exist they just don’t have the resources to update them
If Bungie ever does bring back Faction rallies or the factions I really hope they aren’t like Warmind. Grinding for those exotic armor ornaments and catalyst were probably the worst grind I’ve done across both games. You needed 50 levels to get both one of the catalyst and armor ornaments, it took about an hour of public events to get 1 level, you had one week to hit level 50 since there was only 3 rallies, and you had to do that 3 times if you wanted everything.
Honestly, Destiny nowadays is not that grindy compared to Warmind Faction Rallies.

This could have been a 20 second video. It’s because bungie is lazy and didn’t want to make faction specific content so they left them without any story involvement for 6 years and then said “fwc died offscreen so everyone is banned” and cut them from the tower.
It’s not laziness, its just another entire event that would take time off everything else, clearly you done know what prioritization means they already release 4 seasons, 3 extoic missions, 2 raids, 2 dungeons, 4 events, 1 new location, 1 campaign, 1 new strike and completely reworked and changed 2 strikes, 4 new pvp maps, added multiple huge QoL improvements and are going to add a new gameplay update in a few months with multiple new pvp game mode within the past 14 months and now your wanting them to add another new event that’d take hundreds of additional hours to produce, people like you can never be happy and are always wanting more

At this point I totally agree with you. Destiny has the perfect LORE. Really have to congrats to the writers and creators of the lore. But the management of Bungie was very poor.

It was such a missed opportunity to have crucible be based around faction wars.
They could've implemented a system similar to guardian games but it's a weekly thing where the factions are pitted against each other and lore will be developed based around that. For example a faction that is losing in stats or popularity could start to spread propaganda about fighting for them when you login to the game and if you switch you'll get some exclusive gear or cosmetics to said faction. Each faction could offer some passive abilities as well that could be enticing (or offer exclusive mods). Staying with a faction could grant you loyalty rewards. It could've made crucible far more engaging
For me fwc had best weapons in both games I really did like their color scheme and goal/mission statement. The other 2 bored me honestly
The FWC color scheme of purple with white, yellow and salmon/rose (?) accents was slick! And while Hung Jury was exceptional, I really liked the FWC weapons over what DO and NM offered.
I miss the factions so much. The thing about fanctions in d1 is it felt like the world was connected, doing activities give you rank for that activity, but also your faction rank, you were helping a lot at once, you felt like you were gaining progress, cuz your rank didnt reset every damn 3 months so everything you did WASNT useless

In Lightfall, didn't we find out that Lakshmi was also from Neptune and was involved with testing on the veil? FWC made a lot more sense after that.
i wish we could stand together and return to destiny 1 as a whole and bring life to it again, i wish bungie would increase the vault space which killed the game
As a former member of Dead Orbit since D1, I always hoped to see or go to the Dead Orbit fleet.
When it became clear we never would, I started thinking all the factors were just for lip service and were never intended to be fleshed out.
Pretty great summary of the old factions. I know this isn’t really a lore video on the old factions, but if I remember right from the Veil containment recordings, Lakshmi-2’s mind is pretty much a copy of Maya Sundaresh’s.
Destiny 1 faction guns had that look that made them feel like real rare cool guns. In d2 I never feel like my guns feel special

I was a dead orbit main in D1, Factions in D1 gave you a reason to play, ranking up to get the weapons, ships, emblems and shaders........... D2 has nothing like this which sucks

I know D1 had its fault, such as launching without much content, but man… that game was like crack. Still miss the music, the mystery and of course my Eclipse Maw gear…
I don't know, man. Renown was an interesting concept. It was pretty cool stacking up to 5 then going to a Kost Sector - it was more difficult and much more fun.
Also - the hologram.you carried about looked great!
i feel like its simple turn them into permanent vendors and give them weapons that have a rare and random trait that would be sought after but could only be gained from specific factions that would drive so much
3:49 As a veteran player myself, this only proves how dumb Bungie became content-wise, the endless cycle of re-cycle, they've made a big fuss about it in The Final Shape reveal with "two exotics equipped at the same time" but we all know that everything sounds so familiar, doesn't it ?

I was a loyal FWC member. I think it's still the emblem I use. I really thought we never won a single faction rally. I guess I was on vacation the one time we won.

I was a new light during Season of The Splicer/Beyond Light era. The only thing I knew of the factions was that of Laksmi-2 and FWC. Really bummed that I missed the factions 😢
In 2016, my Playstation 4 (along with all of my other possessions in my apartment) was stolen, I didn't get a new one until 2018. Whoever had stolen my PS had logged in to my Destiny account and deleted everything in my inventory and my vault. I had a huge rank with dead orbit, their ship, the exotic class items, a bunch of their guns and armor, etc. Along with raid weapons, rare drops... I could go on and on, I played the hell out of D1... And poof, in one night, all of it was gone. I was in contact with Playstation themselves and my local police department and of course neither of them were any help. Playstation's support "specialists" didn't even let me know that I should have changed the email associated with my account along with my password. So whoever it was had free range of my account for 2 years... I can't express how upset I was. I stopped playing D1 after I got a new PS4 and changed my account info but I started playing D2 again since it was relatively new at the time. I'm still very upset about my D1 account though, I don't know if I'll ever really get over it.
As a relatively new D2 player, I picked up on the faction types from seeing their iconography in the Tower, faction armor sets, and at times weapons and emblems. I wish in some small capacity there were vendors present in the Tower or even the hanger, even if their purpose was to merely sell shaders and ornaments. We are already used to the seasonal weapon having Vanguard and Crucible shaders, so why not have a select few weapons introduced into the season have ornaments with simple logos and color schemes too? We already have some weapons with the War Cult emblem.
They totally need to add the life exotic perk to destiny 2, it’ll definitely make crazy builds
Correction: there were other transmat effects in D1, there was a halloween themed consumable that would change your effect to a swarm of bats, but only until the next reset.
There may have been others, but that's the one i know about for sure.
New monarchy was the best for me the auto rifle you got from it i loved it i have 42,000 + kills with it if bungie dint do sunseting i would still be using it
I think in destiny 1 they were originally special because there wasn't so many vendors. That changed in Taken king but for awhile there was Vanguard, Crucible, Gunsmith, and Faction of your choice.
They got lost in the shuffle in D2.
the D2 Dead Orbit titan armor was pretty awesome, TBH. Loved when it got re-added with the Prophecy dungeon, def miss that period of D2. Even with sunsetting happening around then, I had fun.

ngl i think if faction rally's had came back and turned into the guardian games style it would have been pretty good. having the 3 factions flags instead of the 3 classes and having the medals system so it mattered more about doing better activities. think id actually like that more than guardian games.
For PvP weapons FWC had the best ones and some Dead Orbit but for PvE Dead Orbit has one of the best with Hung Jury

I managed to get the dance party key back in the day but yea i never knew anyone else really who obtained one. The whole event was kinda shit tbh
I feel the factions offered incredible diversity and opportunity to own unique weapons and armor with specific shaders and rather than invest in continuing or expanding it they cut it loose in favor of a more centralized and controlled loot pool. Which is what people dislike greatly. The loss of the gunsmith bounties, unique weapons back in d1 coupled with the loss of factions and what they had to offer was a travesty to say the least despite what fanboys here would say.
They should have just brought the faction mechanics from D1 cause we would have more weapons and armor to grind for which in turn would keep people playing the game

Ahh in destiny 2 from pointless rewards, to a rigged event that has every class win in a cycle of Titan, hunter, then warlock which is just as pointless which only gets some tracks with some decent rewards which were few in number

As someone who has been repping Dead Orbit since Destiny 1, the fact that they have a key role coming up is promising
Cousin trying to get me back into Destiny but this is the main reason I couldn't enjoy it when it first came out. I had every FWC ship/shader/armor and weapons...this was all on xbox so I don't remember how many hours I had but dammit were those the days. Destiny was so amazing up until they decided to make a 2nd game instead of just updating Destiny itself for 10 years like originally planned.

PvP players, the small majority, has had 2 weekly/semi-weekly events for years now. PvE has had ZERO for years. PvE between events is dead, especially this season. PvE needs a weekly returning event.
The future war cult armour always looked best on the hunter in D1, especially the visor with the FWC going across it.

Man i still remember
New Monarchy with the Iron Man shaders and Dead Orbit for those edgy looking shades of black and white. Both looked great in D1 and D2. It's a shame they removed factions but I understand that Destiny 2 was a completely different game back then.
Bungie could easily bring back Factions all they have to do is make them how they were in D1
