68 Days Across Newfoundland Wild: EP.3 Man & Dog

- Join me and my dog Saku on our 68 day wilderness camping adventure in Newfoundland, Canada. It's a 700 km Winter, Spring and Summer expedition. This is episode #3 of the series with more to come.
We travel across challenging and magical woods and waters. It's survival in every sense of the word other than the fact that we live primarily on carried rations. We do catch many fish for extra calories later in the trip. We are often many miles from civilization.

I am hoping for a minimum of 8 episodes from this expedition. This is something that Saku and I have put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and time into. We hope you enjoy the series.
BACKSTORY: In the Spring of 2017 I embarked on a 700km snowshoe, Alpacka raft, backpacking expedition across the harsh yet magical Newfoundland interior wilderness. I was solo as a human but far from alone. By my side from start to finish was my loyal Cape Shore Water Dog, Saku. We went through thick and thin together in order to travel across some of the least explored wilderness regions of our province. We encountered frequent wildlife while battling desolate barrens, thick bush, mountain ranges, storms, sub-zero temperatures, raging whitewater, massive lakes, the Atlantic Ocean and monster trout. Often we were days of man-power travel away from civilization. It was a big challenge and an unforgettable blessing.
Newfoundland is the island portion of the province "Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada"
We have A LOT of unoccupied land and endless outdoor opportunities. The interior of the island is largely uninhabited. What exists is primarily remote wilderness. That is where our trip took place. From the western side of the island we traversed for the most part trackless woods and waters to reach the eastern end of the province. I documented the entire journey by camera and that is what I will share with you here on my channel.

Man oh man! This is by far the best series I have ever watched! No bs here! Nothing but admiration for your determination, perseverance and love of the land! Filming all this added so much extra effort for you! And for that! I am so appreciative! Thanks so much for taking us along! Just awesome!
As an Aussie, we don't often even run into snow on a camping trip (unless it's winter and in Alpine, which I've done a few 4wd camping trips in)
This is EPIC!!!
Thankyou so much for documenting this trip for us all to enjoy!
Take care.
Kay.
You and Saku are amazing Justin! You make me proud to be a Canadian and part of this beautiful country. Now everyone can appreciate the beauty of the east coast with you! ❤🐶🦊🌲💕
Saku is the best. So is this series. So enjoyable. Love the flute. BRAVO.
Wow. This crossing of the river... Just Wow.
Hands down my favorite outdoor show. I know how tough it is to travel across the tundra and it's brutal even when you have nothing to carry. You have tremendous endurance.
This series is one of the best I've ever seen. I need to thank Joe Robinet for recommending it. Justin absolutely amazing content mate, and give Saku my love. Can't wait for the next one.
Love this , no word of the a lie for the last 3 yrs I've been watching the three main series the fjords on and the Newfoundland adventure and last but not least the labrador one loving it who needs Netflix
I love your videos Justin - you’re the real deal and you do the east coast proud
Hi Justin it was great to hear joe robinet give you a well deserved shout out. He hasn’t been keeping to welll lately so let’s hope he has a good recovery and maybe meets up with you sometime in the near future for a good.adventure. Take good care my son
What a great video...sun shining above the dog with his ears flapping in the breeze while he sits peacefully in the boat....so cool! Love this!
Wow! Just wow! Those caribou. And Saku! He's such a rock star.
I am absolutely loving this series. Saku and yourself have a priceless bond, thank you for letting us in to watch it grow.
Thanks for coming along Derek!
This might be my favourite video so far. Saku constantly amazes me with his energy and loyalty (very sad noises as he watches you paddle off ....) The caribou encounter was just stunning. Looking forward to the rest of this series ....thank you!!
I am really, really enjoying this! You are one hardy soul! Beautiful country! Love that you have Saku with you - wonderful companion! Thank you for taking us along!

The bond you have with Saku is absolutely amazing almost like me and donkey
Ha!
This Georgia boy would have already frozen to death. You and Saku are two tough mothers!!! Love your story. Keep safe.
Love your videos - straight to the point and you don't spend 20 minutes talking about one piece of gear like alot of other bushcrafters do - Joe sent me
Thanks really appreciate it!
I admire your attitude, calm, perseverant, always have your hopes up. It shows you love what your doing and I guess it's what you need to complete treks like these. I really enjoy watching and learning from your adventures. Good job !
U & Sak eating jerky with a simultaneous chew....best clip so far ...lol. Awesome . Great to get a shout out from Joe....pretty cool. Can't wait for the next .

Wade Barbour. I’m from Ontario about 60 miles north west of Toronto
Brilliant documentary, with ye all the way Justin , Saku is an awesome companion , he’s gonna be brilliant as he gets older . Great insight into Newfie countryside ... keep them coming
Another riveting episode. So glad to see your channel getting the recognition it deserves! I agree with you that making your own homemade dehydrated meals is where it's at. The store bought ones are too salty for me! Glad Saku listened to you in regard to the beaver. Yes, beavers sure can mess a dog up! That last campsite looked comfy. Nice to rest there for a while. Can't wait for this week's show!
Thanks Jenn!
Saku is such a good boy!
You and Saku have a great Love for each other! Fricken awesome Boyz's! God Bless Ya!! No better Best Friend!
Canadian brother , one more for the adventure man , Joe Bobinette talks highly of you , a bit dangerous at time bros , all those gears on a floating balloon in the middle of no where , now that is adventure , i will be seing you soon , good job .
Thought he was gonna swim after you for a minute, what a good boy indeed.
Thanks Big fish he's a good pup for sure!
My lil kitty loves watching your videos with me. This one in particular kept her watching for quite some time. Love the adventures! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoying the series, great work. There is nothing better than outdoors with a dog tagging along.
What an amazing journey, what a great story. The challenges and struggles were inspiring, and as a dog lover I really enjoy seeing how you and Saku work together - a good dog can be better company than most people.
Can't wait for the next episode.
So glad Joe plugged your channel so I could enjoy your awesome trip. Each episode is great.
Once again, the music is really good, and the sunrise scenes (16.30) were excellent.
You are the MAN! This is some legit bushcrafting. Love watching how you care for Saku. He's a great dog. Your camera work is fabulous as well. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us. Can't wait for the next episode.
Poor baby... even if you didnt leave him, I still feel bad for the guy. Such a loyal pupper!
This needs to be some sort of program in our high school. My old high school phys-ed teacher took us camping for a couple of nights (lean-to) and taught us how to handle a kayak. I am not sure if this still happens - if not, it needs to. What a great way for our young kids to get out and appreciate nature + learn some survival skills. Great stuff man - will watch the rest when I get home.
Best documentary series I've ever seen. I could be biased because I'm from here and and can relate to most of what's going on. Great job Justin, it's really well done. I'm left itching for the next episode. Cheers bud.
Hey Justin
Going to really miss the channel being small where you’d always be able to reply to any comments or questions I had. But super happy to see you getting the recognition and subs you deserve. You are the real deal and people love ya for it. Thanks for taking us along on your amazing journeys.
Thanks for watching as always Terlor!!
Awesome stuff again bud. Those caribou were so white in colour. Real gentle creatures
Right on Clint! I'm a fellow Canuck down in New Zealand right now just walked a big chunk of the Te Araroa Trail and the only Fauna I've seen out here are goats, sheep and birds. Pretty bare compared to Canada. Videos like yours and Justins make me wanna get back home real soon. Cheers mate!
A dog is a great companion in the woods. I have three Labradors, I take them everywhere.
Love watching you and Saku.
Hi again. Also enjoyed this a lot.You make some very interresting videos.Thank you !

Hello Justin, just wanted to say that your vids are awesome, been watching you for quite some time and I love your work... in fact I can relate to the no nonsense approach to bushcraft/wilderness living. Now this 68 Day series my friend is going to get you alot of new intrest in the channel , and buddy you deserve it. Great camera work and very well put together. Awesome video once again my friend. Glad joe gave you a shoutout and you got more subs. Well deserved! Welcome to the fam everyone!
Justin, I really enjoy your epic episodes. I like how raw they are. I am sure conditions are not always perfect, and that comes through really well in your videos. Also, the pure thrill and joy this experience is to you is clear. Plus, Saku is amazing. Great job!

That sunset tho 🔥
truly an impressive companion saku is amazing and your both crazy
I really appreciate your trip videos. At 30.38 I had an immediate flash back of some 25 years + when I was winter camping in northern Minnesota with my Lab Delta. Spent several nights trying to keep his cold nose off the back of my neck as he tried to weasel his way into the sleeping bag!
That was a tough bugger of a trip, it was. Looking forward to relaxing thru the next part=EP.4. Almost feel a sense of guilt hearing that sled drag on the solids!! Whew buddy! Once again, excellent footage Justin. Excellent, feel welcome to be along. PB
Saku is such a trooper. You two are so inspiring. Stay safe, and we'll keep y'all in our prayers.
Really enjoying the series. Can't wait for each new episode. Keep up the great work!
G'day Justin, another great episode of your amazing journey, the scenery, wildlife, narrator and companion are all wonderful. I look forward to more!
Cheers Mark - Nowra, New South Wales, Australia
Another great episode. Love watching Saku blossom out there. He must be awesome now!
Another in the books, fun crossing with the little raft:)
You and Saku looks to be havin fun.
Watched episode 1 yesterday and 2&3 today.
Beauty land and some great captures you've got.
I hope you can read french or use a translator as it is easier for me to express myself in french, keep on ! Sylvain
O people, common, he needs more subscribers, this is an epic trip..! Keep safe and a hug for Saku...
Yes thank you, enjoy!!!
Hi Justin. Loving your Labrador series at the moment and am eagerly waiting for the next video! In the meantime I'm working my way through your other videos. Loving your content. Saku always makes me smile. Keep up the good work.
I feel so lucky to have found this video series. every one is something to look forward to they are really well put together and tell the story so well without feeling scripted. great job man
Amazing sun rise and sun set hey how many heart beats skipped when you saw sakoh almost fall in when you where all the way across my gosh ReoccurringNightmare I’m sure I am 60 you won’t forget it
From here on out, no one in life can question you.
Justin your series is so good I want more and am only disappointed I have to wait for more installments. I like the extra length of the episode and would even like more.
Man what a good dog
Great vid and series of vids. Started getting used to the boring videos of the UK crowd just talking about their expensive equipment, then pitching their tents on the top of the highest peaks totally exposed then wondering why they didn’t get any sleep. JB’s vids are totally refreshing in comparison.
Another great instalment from a wicked adventure. Not only awesome in the adventure itself, but you're doing a great job turning it into a mini series. Love it, looking forward to next week already.
Justin. I also started watching because of joe Robinet ... I really enjoyed your trip ..thanks for taking time to video this for us. Craig. Pa. Guy
