I am aiming for 9 episodes of this expedition. This is something that Saku and I have put a lot of blood, sweat, tears and time into. Living outside my comfort zone and at times, a little close to the edge. Feeling my heartbeat and feeling more alive. It's the only way I know how and it's the life that fills my soul. We hope you enjoy the series.

**BACKSTORY: In the Spring of 2017 I embarked on a 700km snowshoe, Alpacka raft, backpacking expedition across the harsh yet magical Newfoundland interior wilderness. I was solo as a human but far from alone. By my side from start to finish was my loyal Cape Shore Water Dog, Saku. We went through thick and thin together in order to travel across some of the least explored wilderness regions of our province. We encountered frequent wildlife while battling desolate barrens, thick bush, mountain ranges, storms, sub-zero temperatures, raging whitewater, massive lakes, the Atlantic Ocean and monster trout. Often we were days of man-power travel away from civilization. It was a big challenge and an unforgettable blessing.
Newfoundland is the island portion of the province "Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada"
We have A LOT of unoccupied land and endless outdoor opportunities. The interior of the island is largely uninhabited. What exists is primarily remote wilderness. That is where our trip took place. From the western side of the island we traversed for the most part trackless woods and waters to reach the eastern end of the province. I documented the entire journey by camera and that is what I will share with you here on my channel.

Thanks,
Justin
I wear my newfoundland hat around Prague and when someone asks where r you from I whip off my hat and show them the map. .
Then I ask how long does it take to go around here in a kayak? I ask them to guess and u can very well imagine the wild guesses.. then after they made their guesses I tell them 3 months.. I tell them Ken Campbell did it in 2000 and wrote ,around the rock..around gr8 book th as t does justice to our beautiful island which dare I say it,shud be independent .
I love your flag Justin.
Keep the thing flying. .mine is on my fridge.
Lol
please don't put Saku in any boat with that backpack on him, please!
Hey by's, hope you enjoy episode #7. If so please hammer that like and share!
Right now it looks like there will be two more episodes in this series. Part 8 will come next Sunday.
Thanks for watching, have great week!
Everybody else read Justin's comment with his Newfoundland brogue in your head!!!
Sure did enjoy it thx for taking me with you..😀
Shoulda used that keychain for tinder lol . Really enjoy this series, keep them comming. GLG
Another awesome video!! Keep em comin. Look forward to it every week!
Odd question. Is that Paracord you use as shoelace? OK , bye. lol
This series is by far the best thing I’ve ever watched on UA-cam. Great job man!
Thanks Robert buddy glad you're enjoying!
Totally agree
Check out Lars Monson - Across Canada (English subtitles.) I love Justin's attitude.
Justin and Saku my Sunday is now complete😁
I appreciate it!
You and Saku really deserve an Academy Award for this series. You and he are by far the best duo on UA-cam! Your authenticity and honesty are so real. I laughed so hard when you went in the water to retrieve your knife. I love your video's and will follow you wherever you go. Saku shows such spirit and dignity, even when you get him into some shit!!! Take care, brother!
Thanks Kirk really appreciate it man!! Glad to have you along for the ride
Cheers for taking a day of fishing. Atlantic Salmon are the most acrobatic fish I've ever caught, and good eating too. But there is nothing better then native brook trout over the fire.
I watched your recent Q & A video. I would just like to voice my opinion on possible collaborations with other outdoor enthusiasts / UA-camrs.
There are survivalist specialists, bush craft specialists, and explorers. I believe that your endeavors and achievements have landed you in the latter of the three and actually is encompassing of the other two. In addition, you bring such a refreshing outlook to the beauty that is still in the the world and make me believe that it is still possible to walk where no man has walked before. This is what you give me with each adventure. And I may be too old now to be anything more then envious, but I thoroughly enjoy what you have given to me.
Do whatever you like, but a true explorers soul is a rare thing. Thank you for sharing, God Bless, Greg
Thank Greg really appreciate that buddy.
Justin , I just got to know your channel today (3/24) and I'm completely absorbed. I love your enthousiasm, talking to us in the vids,
the fantastic filming, absolutely wonderful. Please give Saku a nice pet from me...
I will!! Thanks!
Awesome Video series. No drama, no exaggeration, just a pure honest portrayal of NL and what it takes to do a back country hike. Mentally and physically grueling does not even begin to describe it, but obviously there is an immense satisfaction to completing such a journey. Well done.
The satisfaction is indescribable unless you've done it. Really appreciate the comment
Nice catch! Saku is funny how he pulls his head back and nose up when you reel in the fish in the boat! He knows they are slap happy! Lol I would of stayed an extra day or two too.
I appreciate how you do not edit out the mistakes and missteps. It’s real out there and you do not paint a false narrative. Be safe out there! Thank your sweetheart for being such a support to your passion! And give Saku extra loves from us. He’s very much a super star in my book.
Justin my wife and I have watched the series on the big tv. She is not a real outdoors type but she allows me to do my trips because she knows how much I enjoy them. She is hooked on your expedition though and looks forward to Sunday nights. Thanx for doing this
No problem Clifford thanks for following! Really appreciate all yours ( and the wifes) support
OMGosh....another winner!! Tuckimor, flies, tossing yer knife.....holy smokes! I’m gonna watch this series all over again. Those ankle busting stretches sure had me worried, not just for you but Saku as well. I imagine those sticks and rocks could poke a hole through anyone!! Dang!
Gotta be careful for sure thanks Susan!
You definitely look like you've lost some weight at this point of the journey! Saku on the other hand looks to be doing very well.
It's nice that you take such good care of him and even let him eat all of you days catch.
Loving the series Justin!
Cheers!
yep was slimming hard for sure. Didn't have much left to lose! Saku maintained well especially once we finished the hard walking section through the mountains. He spent a lot of time in the boat after that chilling which was great recovery for a young pup. I was slowing him down by this point haha. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Enjoyed watching, great music to go with the scenery, love the way Saku watches you fish. You two are amazing.
Gotta love a man who works so hard to get out, film and create some of the best vids ever to share with us.and at the end returns home wearing more tape to patch himself up then the companies who make it produces.lol.ty sir
Simply outstanding!! Great series! Tuckamore and trout. A little bit of history. A spot of rum. We're watching Saku turn into a great travelling companion. Well done!!
Epic Justin for me one of the best channels on youtube - your doing Newfoundland proud!!
Envious of that amazing fishing, plus the gorgeous terrain. Very enjoyable episode, I love seeing Saku so comfy in the pack raft, he’s in dog heaven on this expedition.
Another job well done Bud. The look on your face around the 29 min mark was priceless. I could feel the frustration all the way here in Ontario. Those flies were just the cherry on top after a hard day of bush whacking. Nothing a little Screech can't solve. Stay safe Justin. Go Habs Go!
haha thanks Dave all the best buddy. Big win last night!
Dude.... Don't know what to say.. You and Saku are simply the crazy best.. Fishing is amazing
Loving this series!! Your positive attitude no matter the challenge is very inspiring. Definitely one of the best channels on UA-cam!!
"Sure they're not even biting me. They're just HITTIN me."
Hahaha that's the worst part, the buggers! Another good one man.
hahaha
Youre doing good things with this channel. Thank you Justin. Please please care for Sak in his old age
Waiting,,,is the hardest part...Thank you Justin and Saku!!

Your amazing dog is the best wilderness partner one could possibly have,,,,no arguments as to where or when to stop!!!!!
Well you really tested the hell out of that Alpacka. This is fantastic stuff and thanks for putting it up.ATB
Here we go. Just cleaned up from doing yard work all day, fixing a leaking 2nd story shower and replaced the downstairs ceiling. Got my coffee now I am tuning in...fired up!
Your adventure is the highlight of my UA-cam week and another fantastic episode. Keep on there my son!
Favourite one so far. Nice bit of history and goddamn! that trout fishing!

Thanks for letting us share your experiences and keep the adventures coming. You have the best youtube channel out there now , in my opinion, hands down.
Just had to comment about Sacku and the way he flipped around on that rock at 39:54! He was some excited, that is some cute stuff! - He does a lot of cute things..
Another great episode. Sucks when this one ends. I have enjoyed watching them all. Good Job!
Wow!
Amazing fishing, I wasn't surprised at all that you stayed the extra day. It must be hard leaving some of those lakes without exploring every inch. And again I'm super impressed with that kayak.
Hard to leave is right! Thanks for watching Dan
Your videos help me calm down, one day I’ll be able to go on Canóe trips of my own.
You know the whiskey is gonna be good when it's called Screech!

Awesome video Justin n Saku !! Wow scenery unreal .. fine catch boys ❤️ !! Keep it coming Ma n Pa are loving it !!!
Been waiting all week! This is my Sunday night treat! Thanks Justin!
Hope you enjoy it Gary!
Haaaaa flies 😂 I know the feeling. I once found a special place for fishing up a river , miraculous place, hard bushwacking, full of flies, but the best souvenir of a fishing day . I think the best comes from having to push ourselves to the limit sometimes . Great episode again and a great reminder of what our ancestors went trought in the past. Thank's for your time devoted to make this series, à la prochaine ! Sylvain, from Québec
lol pop gets eaten so bad they make it look like he got sliced or jabbed wiuth a knife or fork or something
I was laughing me arse off mate when you had to go in for the knife! I thought flies in Australia were bad...thats bloody ridiculous! you need a cork hat!
hahaha few flies!
Amazing how long you walk everyday with gear that heavy. Thanks for making this wonderful series!

Thanks Dan we're happy to have you. Enjoy the Newfoundland wilderness. More to come! Best wishes
Once again Justin.....Great job. Can't wait for next week!!!
Man oh man, I started to swat at flies while watching this trek. 😉 What a great adventure! 👍
Sako loves fishing.
I just love this series - your way of narrating, the photography, Saku, and of course the music. Decades long fan of music from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Greetings from Homer, Alaska
It's pretty incredible seeing your trip progress, and the versatility of that Alpaca raft. This trip has been my nightly enjoyment for the past week (just glad I'm not waiting for follow on episodes, like I currently am with the latest video postings...LOL). Makes the gears turn, and makes me plan for trips when I'm back home in Northern Wisconsin.
lol he's flippin out from the cold water then saku goes out like it's just another day, as if to say 'silly human'
Right on time ....Its like watching the Newfoundland channel!
haha fair enough thanks Kyle!
I really get the feel that your pushing it. Every step is an adventure. Thanks for sharing. those damm flys!
Thank god blessings you and the dog!
I truly admire your Intestinal fortitude, your one ballsy dude and dog! We forget we are capable of such things. Your Doco is so inspiring! Thanks for going to such effort to to share your truly amazing experience 👍
Starting my week with a Barbour video !!!!!
God love ya thanks!
Favorite spot 22:19. LOL, Saku!!!
That trout getting away reminded me of the time my friend kissed his fish goodbye. He caught a trout measuring about 18 inches long and she was a fatty. He was so excited that he picked it up with both hands under her belly and kissed her on her mouth. She flipped up into the air and back into the river. He stared at the water for a bit and finally said… “Mike by…l feel like sitting down and crying.”
Nice video Justin! I love how Saku enjoys it to! Good luck!
He's such a good boat dog, I can see him losing his puppy face and getting his dog face as I watch these videos. Hard going in this one, those stiff breezes were tough. Loving it.
Wow that’s a good lesson. Love history of our province.
Justin & Saku thanks for sharing...great job...:-)
Wow, nice, really nice landscape, and trout fishing seems more than excellent,,,,
Just finished watching!! Great episode Justin and Saku!! Damn Justin I think the biggest worry I have watching this is your ankles breaking as you fish and walk that terrain!! Lol. "I know your fine"! But boy that could really be a trip ender! Good boots with support is a must!! Seeing all those fish made me so excited for our opening fishing season in May, in Minnesota!! Can't wait!! Be safe and talk to you soon!!
thank you...happy spring from alberta...
Your videos sure brings out the Tea .... can't watch without a cup.

My greetings from a spanish guy that loves fishing, wilderness and freedom.
@ 39:35 I seen that loose lace and cringed lol Glad you didn't take a harder spill 😀 Crazy to think that something so simple as a loose shoelace could have changed the outcome of your expedition.
Absolutely loving this series Justin ma man, YOU ARE A BEAST!
haha i know man it was close. Took me awhile to notice the lace to be honest when editing. Thanks for watching Twiggy!
Another great one Justin, and of course your ever loyal companion Saku to back you up!
Love the wild country and the fishing. you are a true inspiration to a lot of us fans out here. I will be waiting for Ep. 8 with great anticipation.
Another dandy show. I feel bad saying it but I already can't wait for the Labrador series to start.
haha i hear ya some day.. thanks for watching buddy
What an awesome, amazing experience!
Justin I sure wish I had your ankles, knees and back. My days of multi-day adventures are behind me now with the injuries I've suffered over the years. But thanks to you I'm living those adventures again through the eyes of your camera... Outstanding adventure. Only a couple of years ago I managed over 500 kms in about a month and a half of hunting and guiding. But the old injuries are catching up with me. I suffer greatly for the 15 km days with 30-40 lb backpacks now... The old ankle is shot, still with bone fragments in it. keep up the great work, nice to see videos void on a bunch of ads... My grandfather and is brother, both Mi'Kmaq would walk from Stephenville to Deer Lake on the railroad bed 135 Kms one way and only spend one night on the land. They would average 68 Kms per day. They would carry all the supplies they needed for a month's cutting of logs by bucksaw. They would walk home once a month to drop off their pay to their families and then head back. They were in some shape back then.
Great stuff as always Justin 👏👍 Take care and God bless ✌️
Really inspiring stuff! Makes me really want to go on a long trip. And so funny to see you dive for the knife. I had the same experience here in Norway when I hooked a brand new fishing lure in some wood in the water. I was so cold I could barely walk back to shore! Looking forward to the rest of this series and the labrador-series. Keep it up!
Brilliant! Love it! Cant wait for the next one!
Love all the episodes so far , great job!
