Thanks for the video. How do you download the Apple Carplay app to the car? I’ve done the latest car update but there is no Apple Car Play icon. Thanks again
Though it uses the cars range calculation which is far from real world accurate. Seems to be a fixed efficiency calculation rather than adapting to historical efficiency.
Love your videos on BYD! Have a question for you or anyone from your channel. When connected my iphone 11 to Atto3, using Apple Map from CarPlay, initial turn by turn audio guidance is heard, no subsequent audio guidance afterwards. Using iphone itself (not plugged in), the turn by turn audio guidance from Apple Map works as expected. Do you experience this issue?
Thanks again for another terrific video. Any idea when the rest of us will have access to the Apple car play app? Do you know when Byd is bringing out their app? I’ve seen people on UA-cam using it, like are you are using Apple play. SO AL MUST BE POSSIBLE!! Thanks again for sharing Have a happy New Year
That was a loan press car. I took delivery of a new BYD Seal so just getting hang of Apple CarPlay (given I’ve been driving a Tesla for many years). Agreed, the Widget mode is handy
Hey mate when we connect to google maps and type in a destination it comes through the car speakers but then doesn’t do it whilst your driving but does it when you reach your destination I am pulling my hair out don’t know why it’s doing it any suggestions 😀
I have an issue with carplay in that I can't answer calls. When a call comes in it rings and shows me the caller but I only have the options to cancel or reject. If I press the button on the steering wheel it disconnects the call. I can call back but I would like to be able to answer
09:00 CarPlay is already compatible with portrait (vertical) displays. Here, it just doesn't know that the orientation has changed. What happens when you plug your iPhone into the USB cable _after_ the screen has been put in portrait mode, not before?
You’ll have to accept CarPlay on your Apple Device and also allow it to be used when locked - try restarting your phone - ensure permissions are set to allow etc
Thanks for the video :) . In my ATTO3 , There are sound problems regarding driving instructions while driving on WAZE/google maps. You hear the navigiation only at the beginning and then you just not hear anything. As soon as I Plug/uplug the lighting usb cable it works but again for 20 seconds and then stops again. In addition, the PODCAST application crashes completely. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution? Thanks
I got my Atto 3 last Friday. I also have issues with the sound when using CarPlay. The notifications pop up but no sound. Anyone with similar problems? And maybe more importantly anyone with a solution?
@@LudicrousFeed thanks Tom. Tom, I have a Model 3 and love everything Tesla. Will I be disappointed with an Atto 3 for our other car? Can’t justify another Tesla and the BYD price is good, but worried I’ve been spoiled by the Tesla.
I actually prefer BYD's own navigation app. The performance seems very good, and the voice integration and the ability to drag around the map with your fingers are really convenient.
Can I ask off topic question. The 10 Amp AC charger supplied with the car only gives me a 1.3kW output even on a 15A circuit, are you finding yours does the same or is mine faulty? Many thanks
@@4kaustralia919 I think I recall that I was also only getting 1.3kW in earlier tests - may have to go through my videos. I remember others on socials also saying the same
CarPlay will let you drag the map with your finger but not on all devices. Seems to be up the implementation. This will be a little step backwards for people who had sideloaded CarPlay to use with a dongle since dragging works on on the one I’ve seen.
That TuneIn app looks interesting, never heard of it before. Looks like it has all your internet radio stations which is most radio stations these days. Look forward to further videos.
The lack of map dragging is annoying. I’m currently using a dongle and side loaded app to use CarPlay on out Atto 3 and it drags to scroll just fine. Also, was there any settings option that lets you keep the AC Control Strip along the bottom of the screen?
@@LudicrousFeed it might not be within CarPlay itself since I think it’s up to the device whether it is full screen. Probably buried in the car settings if at all!
how is the vehicle fairing. Planning on buying it soon as my first EV vehicle. It seems to be one of the few solid options out there for my humble budget
Not quite like the way it comes up in my Hyundai i30 GO . This seems like a hack as a screen copy from mobile to test device rather than adaptation of Apple car play. So I am even more convinced not to buy this car, warranty offered in pieces, no Auto sensor wipers, that white wavy thing in front is a problem to keep it clean. This tells me that the company has thought a lot but missed a few things but never mind I convinced to cancel my order.
Speaking as a massive 35 year apple lover and user CarPlay is a huge swing and a miss. Tesla has done a better job with the integration of apple calendars text messaging and now Music I mean it’s just better. I juts don’t understand why car makers are not going out making theses systems correctly themselves, I get they can’t and they don’t want to, basically they could not care less. I mean how many cars truly have wireless CarPlay? Like maybe 2 if that. It’s not hard to code, Apple gives you the code to do it. Basically CarPlay. Swing and a miss…….tell me I’m wrong with a reasoned response and I’ll listen.
The demo toward the end of the video seems to show some odd software quirks and bugs. Seems like they still have a ways to go before it’s working smoothly.
When I use apple music in my tesla model 3, it skips during songs, & then when forwarding to the next song, it keeps on changing songs for 3, 4, or 5 times. Unusable. I’ve gone back to Bluetooth for the tesla. CarPlay in my Polestar 2 however, works flawlessly. Plus of course, Waze on the Polestar screen, instead of on my Pro+ iPhone in the tesla. No contest. Tesla software design is highly overrated. Just give us the option of factory supported (tesla) Apple CarPlay. If you don’t like it, then use the current Bluetooth option in your Tesla. And finally, whether or not a car has CarPlay available, will definitely factor into my next car buying decision. If it doesn’t have it, that’s a large negative.
@@LudicrousFeed agreed. Tesla infotainment would be awesome if it supported apps natively (Tesla App Store) and had actually usable voice control that understood Australian accents.. it’s horrible at place names and people’s names

Hi mate, just a quick question when using Apply CarPlay in your Seal do you get satnav audio out of both speakers or just one.
It’s an ongoing issue … I use Waze and often lose the turn by turn voice directions and alerts

Is CarPlay installed as part of Firmware Update or can I get an APK to get it installed on my car?
Part of recent native firmware update for BYD

It’ll drop as a software update soon 🤞
My carplay on atto3 is laggy (like iam using a 30FPS display), what should i do?
I mean, I wouldn’t say it’s super smooth … check out some of my recent Seal videos where I use CarPlay and you can compare the performance
Hi Tom, does the BYD navigation show cameras like Waze does?
I believe it does from memory
If you flip the screen at the BYD menu and then connect Apple CarPlay, will it be in Portrait mode?

I was told during my Seal delivery that it needs to be plugged into the USB-A port for Apple CarPlay to work
