    thanks for this vid. I was given an Atto as a loaner by my workshop while my EQC was in for a service and I found the controls very confusing; particularly without my reading glasses (hey, can't wear those in traffic!). I kinda soorta managed to activate something, pushing the button left. But it intermittently kept beeping at me and I had no idea what it was about. Nor could I figure out how to see the set speed or how to adjust it. Both my Merc and my VW show the cruise control set speed clearly on the dash. So once I got home, I found this video. I'll try it again when I take the car back :-) Thanks again, very useful video.

    6:25 I find that when it disengages by it self the warning is not obvious enough, its quite sudden with very low sound. It also doesnt warn you well enough when its back on. I find it rediculous that their lane drift warning is so sensitive, yet disengaging lane keeping assist ON A BEND is rather sudden and without warning or i cant hear it nor feel it. It cant see that there is abend ahead and warn me BEFORE the actual bend? at the moment this is tesla autopilot 2014 version.

    I drove one in WA last week. Lane keep assist kept fighting me ao I turned it off. It also started drifting at one stage. The green font for the cc speed lacks contrast and size making it hard to read. It isn’t smooth enough speeding up or slowing down. I found is you held the set button down just after a speed sign change it would set the cc to the new speed but only when the sign was faster. Sign recognition worked but it would pick up signs on exit ramps and then complain you were going too fast. There is an emergency lane keep assist function that has to be deactivated each time the car is started. It activates violently if you drift across a lane without indicating. Before that it will beep incessantly if you are close to drifting. The 5kph changes took too much concentration off the road especially with the hard to read setting.

    @audriusa5368 5 місяців тому +1

    Looks like Atto ACC is similar to my Leaf, which is what, 2018? Basically all behavior and complains in some comments explain one word - "LAG". Its simply takes time to everything-accelerate, brake, recognise road curvature. Its like 2014 smartphone, that's lag, plain and simple.
    Btw, start stop acc from manual:
    "Follow-to-stop/startFollow-start
    If the vehicle stops for less than 3 minutes, the driver needs to reactivate ACC by pressing the accelerator pedal or using the ACC Cruise button."

  • @mondotv4216

    Thanks for the video. Wouldn't it be great if the manufacturers of new tech vehicles produced detailed training videos.
    I think some of the commentors are forgetting this is an assist feature. You are still the driver, it is not autonomous driving.
    I have only used the Cruise / Lane Assist on rural roads and have found it works well, just like what seems to be the default system that follows the line on the side of the road. If there are lines, it steers, slows and accelerates as required. Does not like you holding the steering wheel too lightly to test how well it is doing, and will let you know in a way that might wake you up if it was due to falling asleep.
    There are often too many lines and too many unpredictable, unsafe drivers on the road in busy city driving. For city driving I just use regen set to high and drive it myself. The instant slowing when you take the foot of the accelerator, before getting to the brake certainly helps and the one time I have needed to stomp on the brakes it pulled up very quickly with hazard lights flashing away, so assume it took over stopping the car.
    Main issue I have encountered with cruise is numpties deciding they only need to get a couple of metres past you before moving back into your lane on the highway, causing your vehicle to slow to keep a safe distance from them. That would happen with any brand.
    In case it is not clear from other posts, if you want to set cruise at a specific speed then drive at that speed when you set it.

  • @scepticalcarols
    @scepticalcarols Рік тому +4

    Gotta say, I like to drive, I wonder if we will see more folk accidentally running red lights because they forgot to pay attention and brake.. I also like to drive my line in the lane, not just the centre and not wandering off the edge. I have a MYP on order but wonder how much I'll bother to use all the fancy car in charge stuff. I can see it helping on long trips and intervening in some way when people get tired and doze, that could well save lots of lives. But it seems there are some deliberately taking a nap (or under the weather) because the car can do it very well on the right roads, until the police cruise by of course. Ps thanks Tom enjoy your work.

  • @SeanWWalsh
    @SeanWWalsh Рік тому +5

    The "adaptive" part gets easily confused around bends, it sometimes doesn't see the car ahead and accelerates through the bend before jumping on the regen when the road straightens.
    I really miss a speed limiter function in traffic as the adaptive cruise control isn't really smooth enough to use in the city in my experience.
    You get that one opportunity to set the speed to the precise speed you want when you first set the cruise on, otherwise it's the 5kph increments.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  Рік тому +2

The ability not to be able to change speed in 1km is extremely annoying. I like to sit on the speed limit and true 100km speed in Atto appears to be 103kph. Let hope a firmware update can fix this!!

      Certainly how I use my ZS EV, which is fairly similar in capability. I don’t think either is really good in city streets. They just go on and off a little to much and also there is always the traffic light issue. The other issue with Lights Tom, is someone stopping just past the light. The car will slow and pull up as normal but of course that may leave you in the intersection, so another time you need to be ready to manually intervene.

    You can flick the resume lever up if stopped at the traffic lights once the vehicle in front of you starts moving if you have ACC activated.
    Adjusting the speed on the ACC system only works in 5km increments.
    If there is stationary traffic already stopped at the traffic lights as you approach, you must apply the brakes manually to bring the Atto 3 to a complete stop. The ACC system does not recognise stopped traffic.
    Flick the lever upwards if stopped for under 3 minutes, to resume moving forward and the Atto 3 will start moving, the lines by the car icon on the screen will be brown, meaning the car in front is travelling below the speed limit that you set, but once the vehicle in front speed's up so will the Atto 3 and the lines by the car icon will go from brown to green once your Atto 3 reaches the set speed limit.
