Mat Watson, Alex Kersten and Taylor Hetherington should be the new trio TOPGEAR!
with the long range you can buy the acceleration booster which brings the 0-60 from 4.2 to 3.7 seconds. Definitely worth it, I have it myself!
BYD SEAL with 3.7 0 to 60 time can also easily rivalled some supercars like the Ferrari F40.
I have seen the Seal post 3.6s (100kmh) in some of the reviews (with timing equiptment)
I would also like to see the BYD timed on proper tyres..........it comes supplied on Continental Eco tyres.
my 2019 accel boost runs 3.4 s 11.68 quarter mile
My 2020 M3P runs 2.91 at 95% SOC. Crazy fast 1/4 at 11.28
Is the acceleration boost available for a 2023 Model 3 long range
Next, we need a review of the BYD Seal.
BYD = BLOW YOUR DADDY
No. It's crap
@@festo8885no it's not it's very good
its great@@festo8885
@@festo8885Why? Just because it's Chinese?
Seems like BYD has a power cut when it exceeds a certain speed. You can hear the beeping.
Would love to see a full comparison on these two cars, including build quality, features, day to day living
And also bhp, 0 to 60 time, top speeds and price tags between Model 3 and BYD SEAL.
Build quality goes for BYD seal no doubt.
@@zerrieful really?!?
@@zerrieful Chinese cars are the worst. I only drive BMW anyway, but if o had to choose between these two I would take the Tesla. I don’t support the Chinese economy.
@_carfreak_2812 A lot of tesla are literally built in China...
Also tesla uses BYD battery tech now so....
Sam saying he would find every person individually who scolds their cat was funny and heartwarming
Scald
Stretching the content really hit in this video
Loved the gift Sam...very thoughtful!
490hp sounds high for the Tesla, I know pre refresh they were close to 400, 450 with the acceleration boost add on
exactly, and using the same numbers
With acceleration boost max HP is 510HP (373KW)
But the accelaration booster is avaible on the new highland? I have the long range and it says its 351 hp…
@@JuanAlvarez-ix4th Not sure for the highland...
It's a Highland in the video. Long passed the "refreshes".
The name of the car you two were trying to remember is JAGUAR!
They forgot about the Suzuki Swift for the singer bit 😂
And an animal!
swift and stinger is animals?
@@Just_a_random_birb Yeah but Taylor Swift is the my reasoning for this.
@@TzuchiKR lol
I have Tesla model3 2023. I have been driving since 35 years and the most thing I hate is driving but driving Tesla is absolutely different experience. I enjoy it every single time I drive and I get excited every time I drive it. I hate it when my wife take the Tesla and leave our combustion car for me as I feel forced to drive it. It no fun. Honestly, Tesla is a solid , reliable , and smooth car, and the fullself driving is insanely accurate and fun.
Funny how in 2023 we call 50k pound car “not so expensive”. My dear the world has gone mad.
Maybe a moto coming from automakers to UA-camrs 😅
Matt and Sam you guys had me cracking up the entire video, thanks a lot I love your work.
@13:30 Is it just me or is the wind noise more like a wind whistle in the BYD?
Might be the go pro's on the outside of the car
@@iwadis180 Incredible how the Tesla manages to keep that noise out of the cabin if that's the case. :-)
there are reason why BYD cap its speed on its peeformance model only at 117. maybe their build quality cant take that kind of speed.
@@pindot787volvo also? or we just have speed limits ~130km/h around the world, excluding Germany?
@@Santia5a Which volvo? again speed limit are there to keep the longevity of the car, keeping the motor or the battery from overheat, etc etc. do you really think car company care about actual speed limit on highway around the world? o.O
Tesla also has different speed limit between performance and RWD on the same type of car, because the RWD motor simply cant keep up and wont last as long if it was given performance type speed limit, not because they care about highway speed limit.
Impressive performance, I must congratulate you guys for your outstanding intelligence. Well done and Merry Christmas
How about the Dodge Viper or Chevrolet Impala? 🤓
or jaguar?
@@Just_a_random_birb That's a good one
If we go there pull in a couple of chariots in the mix too.
🎉They really couldnt think of Jaguar?!? 😅
Make not model
Yeah jaguar is a British car maker ironic
@@gypsyemperor7535Jaguar is a make
We produced in Poland : Tarpan Honker, Tarpan 237. But who even knows where Poland is :)
yeah they cant even thing of doge viper
I get a feeling that every morning the first thing Matt does is 'pull a muscle'.
Seems like that vibe is very nice.
BYD is catching up for defo👍🏻 competition brings the best of each other in general. Let’s enjoy the ride and cherish the new kid in the block as end user/customer 😎
You can disable the creeping using "Automatic Vehicle
Hold (AVH)". Page 8 of the manual. The switch should be to the left of the gear knob with a little "A" in a circle. It's also an option in the settings menu.
Now it's Tesla's turn - can it do that?
Matt wanted to do everything in this race except racing 😂😂
Yep. Like Jump Starts. Matt has been excellent on jumpstarting in almost all of the Carwow drag races so far.😅
I don't know about Seal, or if someone has answered 2,000 comments earlier, but my Atto3 has a centre console button to toggle between creep and stop at lights. It is an 'A' inside an 'O' on the left side. You can't find it on the big screen.
those designers who founded these cars are so talented .
Can’t believe you didn’t say beetle 😂😂😂
The Long Range Models tend to ease off the line. You need a performance if you want a "Launch". Top end performance is pretty similar with current model 3/Y models, though.
Same with byd they have much faster cars. This seemed to be two cars of similar spec.
It's similar price comparison
The BYD has a launch setting........the guys just didn't know about it. (and it does shave a few tenths of the 0-60 time
So does the tesla
You can upgrade Dual Motor from Standard to Sport mode for $2000 USD without buying the Performance version and it adds approximately 100 HP at the wheel! @06younger
Triumph Stag, VW Beetle, Austin Swallow, AMC Eagle, Ford Falcon, Reliant Robin, Reliant Kitten, Dodge Viper, AC Greyhound, Bill Thomas Cheetah.
That BYD Seal is a beautiful shape.
Much better looking than the Tesla.
And we have a Tesla M3😢
I’m sure with each version of the Model 3 they’re trying to make it look even more AI generated like those CGI images of building plans when they’re not finished yet
Are you hating or liking and saying it looks good
just take a look at BMW cause they taking the piss with that^^
@@christopherfarmer478 not hating but not liking - Tesla do nothing for me positive or negative
BYD = BLOW YOUR DADDY
The model 3 tesla looks like a fat egg. I don't understand how anyone looks at the car and thinks "thats a dope car' the front end looks like a weird chinese fish. Those rims look like cheap plastic, so uglyyyy. It's just sooo dull and plan jane. Not aggresive or futuristic looking. It legit looks like it could be a mall cop car 😂 overall no one would ever double take or take a pic of that car. It looks like basic traffic. Not sleek or aggresive looking at all. The interior is super plan jane too.
Looks like the BYD has different gearing that allows it to launch better with more of a speed limit.
gearing isn't a thing on EVs - unless you consider wheel size as gearing, which it kind of is
telsa leave a little performance on the table (eg ludicrous mode), probably a compromise between performance/efficiency/wear
if highland get a speed boost option - which is likely, it will absolutely smoke the seal
the seal on the other hand is likely programmed to perform at it's absolute limit with zero concern for efficiency, wear, longevity, etc
'Staffy's are the best breed in the world' Sam is my favourite man from carwow 😂❤
I felt like dreams were built this video
421 mile range for a 75kwh battery is pretty impressive if those milegage numbers are true.
Just like always, they aren't true, not even remotely so.
It's the claimed range based on the wheel and tyre choice
I doubt it with a 75 kw battery! Especially with AWD totally made up stats.
0:10
No. You’re CARWOW. And we’re watching Mat Watson.
☹️
Me screaming Jaguar at my phone and my gf wondering wtf is wrong with me
Could the clonk in the Tesla when Matt braked have been the spirit level smacking off the back of his seat?
Would really appreciate it if you could put the kilometres too when mentioning the range
(8:43) It looks like Matt really likes that tesla more than he should :D haha!
Those weird hockey-stick door handles on the Tesla Model 3 and Y are actually pretty clever. The secret is using one's right hand to open doors on the right side of the car, and the left hand for doors on the left side.
3:24 Do a Dyno test and find out.... To easy right? ^^
I've got an idea. You sometimes do a side by side brake test. With electric cars you could do a regenerative brake test. I tried going over a mountain pass with a Porsche Taycan without using mechanical brakes. And it worked.
You can do the same with a petrol car especially a big v8.
Save fuel and brakes too.
You guys are pairing up quite well, it was fun to watch
Are you planning to do a review on Seal U?
BYD is Great 👍🏻
Lamborghini murcielago is named after an animal. Murcielago means bat in Spanish
Finally Tesla actually did a good job with the model 3 styling.
Great video guys yout got great narrative skills keep up the good work
I think the byd also has a boost button as well. Doesn't it? 😅
Yes, they did built-in an electronic nitrogen accelerator (ENA) button with the advanced model.😂(I was kidding)
BYD only needed one more button to complete that. ERS.
i don't find any info on this online
@@delsoljurgen It does have a launch/race setting.........it even times and records the runs for you. The guys where obviously not briefed on the car. Or maybe the owner wasn't even briefed.
