New to CarPlay and really dislike that I cannot remove the phone and iMessage from the layout. I do not want that to be displayed. Smh.
Every time I think about using wireless CarPlay, I realize I prefer to have the phone charging while using CarPlay. 🤷🏻♂️
Nothing wrong there. For long road trips that’s me all the way. But for short drives I always leave my phone in the car charger. 😂
Many of my daily trips are short and I keep my phone in my pocket so wireless is very convenient.
My car has a wireless charge pad but not wireless CarPlay. I may get a dongle for that reason.

I have a mercedes glc 2022 and I have been looking for those arrows to extend carplay but no luck even though i have the latest update of IOS, is there a way to activate those arrows?
Thank for the great video! ... I was hoping to solve my problem with Ooono (HW speed cam notifier), but your advertised setting in notifications "show in carplay" is not available in my menu - iOS 17.4.1 iPhone 13 pro (Europe) 🙄

Thanks so much for this, a real help. Do you perhaps know how to change the shortcut icons from the left side of the screen to the right side? I drive a right handed steering vehicle and my icons are also on the left, quite a stretch to reach.

Very small amount. Probably 1 to 5 percent in 2 hours.
would be great to let people know things here are vehicle specific.
Mine, for example, doesn't allow full screen viewing or have the arrows at the top left.
Does that double arrow trick work on a 2021 Toyota? Vensa, specifically.
Hey man i cant scroll on the map when i am using navigation i can only use the arrows in the bottom right do i need to change something so i can scroll on the map it would be much better

My carplay on my honda doesn’t allow me to change size. I wish I could when I have it on split screen where I could make the map bigger. I just normally run the map in full screen. I don’t have those arrows above the time
You said at the 10 minute mark you would link the wireless carplay adapter you like in the description, but unfortunately I can't find a link. I'm trying to find an adapter for my 2019 Acura MDX - would love a recommendation. The amazon reviews are mixed on most of these dongles.

I live in an area where cellular service is not reliable. What people like me need is an implementation of CarPlay that doesn’t require Siri. For example, I have over a dozen saved Apple Maps locations. With my Mazda’s Car Play implementation, I can’t view/select beyond the first few locations.

Any tips on how to get apps to be allowed on car play? I have very few apps that are allowed on CarPlay. Like radar will not show up on car play???
They come up automatically you don’t do anything. Try updating your apps.

Half the time when I connect to CarPlay, music will automatically start. I HATE that but cannot find a reliably prevent it from happening. Can you help?
I have a Ram truck and had the same issue. Finally found a setting in the head unit to Auto Play when Bluetooth connection is present. I turned that off and now music only plays when I choose it
Great video, but not all CarPlay systems are the same. Depends on the automaker. A lot of those features you have I do not have in my RAM truck. Should’ve mentioned that in your video.

Is there anywayto display speed limits using Apple Maps when no route is set?…It is the one thing that stops me from using Apple maps as my go to

I have never ever seen that expand button
It says “crossfade is unavailable while using CarPlay” but I’m almost positive it has worked before.
Just noticed that on mine too.
I just wish it wasn’t so restrictive on apps. Particularly for me, not allowing UA-cam.
A. It doesn’t have to include video. There’s plenty of stuff I “watch” on UA-cam that’s very audio based and I still like to listen to when I’m not watching.
B. CarPlay isn’t JUST for the driver. It would be nice to be able to have video on it while parked or for passengers.
You can do that by running UA-cam on your phone and the sound then goes out via CarPlay. Or buy of of those magic boxes.
@@MrXMasterTrader which is no different from what’s been done for the last 15 years with Bluetooth making CarPlay a moot point if you’re gonna use your phone for the same stuff.

That’s not CarPlay it’s the maps, If you mean you get lost. I went on vacation last year Apple Maps got me listening to 4 times in 3 weeks. Apple & google maps are both junk.

carplay is so buggy on my new F150. every time i get into the vehicle i have to hit the little arrows on the left twice to go full screen. It never stays that way. Also my Sirius radio never stays on either. I always listen to Howard Stern but every time i get in the vehicle there is no sound. I have to select another channel first and then go back to the howard stern channel to get sound. This happens 99% of the time.

The only thing wrong with Apple Map In Carplay is you Don’t get the Satelite view that you do with Google maps!!
Dongle for wireless car play was the best accessory I ever bought for my car/iphone. It connects within 15 seconds and just works.
For long trips I plug my car in to charge, but for short trips I don’t bother. And I don’t even have to take my phone out of my purse for car play to work.

What if I’m driving my wifes car and she is in it. And I want to listen to the radio, then she opens Facebook and the car starts car playing a video. Can I turn off auto switch to car play??? CARPLAY is the WORST.
Simple, leave wife at home! Jk I have the same problem, I just have her disconnect completely and use my phone instead.

I found it too much of a distraction and now default to using the cars system. I also found it was often slow and buggy, so playing my music would often not work very well.
