I started eating prunes as my dessert after a 5:30 pm dinner after watching your video on them. They are pretty much my only sugar, as I’ve cut all the rest out of my diet. I also eat low carb. I do have pre diabetes, and check my blood sugar every morning. Dessert prunes are not bad for my sugar and great for my digestion. They also help a lot with my propensity to eat into the night, which is horrible for my fasting blood sugar! Im happily full after dinner and “dessert “ and feel satiated until bedtime. I’m so appreciative I learned about including them in my diet. So…thank you!!

The GI of prunes is low. From the web "The glycemic index (GI) of unprocessed, unsweetened, and dried prunes is 29, which is for a serving of 60 grams, or about six prunes." Eat a serving of orunes by itself as a midafternoon snack will keep the Glycemic Load low.

I have recently been adding prunes to my diet for such mentioned benefits. The way I have been doing this, I am currently dividing them in my day. I am eating 2-3 prunes in the late afternoon when I take my second dose of calcium. I eat the other 2-3 after dinner, around 7 pm. I have found breaking up the amount of prunes to be easier on the stomach. Plus, I can evaluate through my day, with the amounts of fruits, vegetables complex carbohydrates that I have already consumed, which can sometimes make the affects of eating more complex carbohydrates, like prunes, hard on the stomach. So far this seems to be working. I have only been doing this for the past two months. I cannot say if it’s had any impact on my DEXA, since I am not due for another for 2 years. I’ve only been recently reevaluating and researching how I could better manage bone health, since I am not yet willing to go big Pharma just yet. These videos are very informative. Thank you!

Yes! I have been spreading them out thru the day for nearly a year. I find it tough to eat more than 1 with breakfast and also up my protein during that meal. Usually don’t eat more than 3 per day as I was also worried about the sugar. Interesting info here on that subject. My next DEXA is in June and after 2 years of changing up my protein intake, adding collagen and other vitamin supplements, I’m interested to see the result and hoping BMD is static or improved. 🤞 I also am very active and lift weights. I’ve had 2 doctors tell me I should be on meds for OP since June 2022 after just turning 63.

Prunes or grandma’s remedy. Prunes also have sugar. Prunes are probably a great natural thing to eat, but I think they make you go potty! If boron is the reason, then we should just take some boron. It seems that grandma’s recipes have a lot of good stuff in them, but we’d like to know if it’s sensible to have them or to have the supplements today.

Two years ago, I added 5 prunes/day as a snack at around 11 a.m. I am not diabetic. They make me feel full which staves off snacking on less healthy things. I have not had any "sugar crashes" from them. I did reduce some other fruit from my diet to accommodate the addition of prunes. I have monthly labs for another medical condition, and my fasting glucose is always at the lower end of the range. I never had an A1C. I have not had a DEXA for 1.5 years. Because I have revamped my diet, added in the needed supplements and increased my strengthening exercises, it will be hard to determine if prunes are making a difference. I do use Cronometer for tracking of my nutrients.

I have eaten prunes as part of my lunch for quite some time, well before your first video on this. My diet is 70% carbs by calorie (from fruits and veggies, not grains or refined sugar etc), and I don't have A1c or other insulin, sugar related issues, am at lower end of healthy BMI so not overweight, ApoB and lipids fine, etc. I also get about 1.7g or so of protein per Kg bodyweight and eat a fiber rich diet including lots of greens. Cannot say if affecting BMD or BTMs, as there are other factors in my life that would affect that.

I am a retired 74 year old podiatrist. I have osteopenia. I started 6 prunes about 6 months ago. I also take K2 MK7, vit D 3, B12, and CoQ10. I don't take any prescription medications. I eat a whole food plant based diet, with tons of protein. I got very sick on the keto diet and had to stop. I have lost 70 lbs on the whole food plant based diet. I am very active and exercise 2 to 3 hours a day. My T scores were 2.1 except the spine at 0.3. I will be retested again next Feb, but my doctor says that the Dexa scan is not a good predictor of future fracture. He said there is a blood or urine test that is much better. My body does well with a lot of complex carbs. We did test my A1c, and it was 5.0. I am not a diabetic. Your thoughts?

If people are adding those prunes on top of their current diet, then they have added calories. One prune has around 20 calories, so 4-6 prunes would be about 80-120 calories, and 10-12 prunes would be about 200-240 calories. And those extra calories are every day. It adds up. Of course they will gain weight. The study could have instead swapped those prunes for other carbohydrates in the diet, to keep the intervention calorie-neutral. Better would be to swap for items that have sugar or simple carbohydrates. That is, drop out such things as cookies or donuts for prunes.

Well, the fruits have also a lot of fructose and eating too much fruits can lead to fatty liver because the high amount of fructose will be stored as a fat in our body… it does not surprise me that too much prunes per day will increase fat in our body

All you need is meat and resistance training to heal osteoporosis. It’s really that simple.

Hi! Thank you for sharing this, our goal is to share as much information on the latest findings about nutrition, movement, hormones and more as there are some who may not be able to partake in certain things due to previous conditions. We hope those who are unable to do resistance training or consume meat can find other takeaways from this channel :)

How about other foods containing boron? Why is everyone so obsessed with prunes?

You use all your medical jargon which I don't understand. You even refer to prunes in grams. You cant weigh grams at the grocery store. It's weighed in pounds.
