This happened in my hometown. I printed her missing flyers at work. This story always makes my cry. Thank you so much for covering this! ❤
😅😅😅p😅😅 of 0
I also lived in Berkeley Springs, I lived up the hill from her house, near the cemetery. It was so sad. Andy was a creepy guy.. I'm so glad they caught him.. feel so sorry for her family.. RIP Riley 🙏 for the family..
Sometimes i wonder if some guys are only interested in courting single mums because its not the mums they desire but the children.... sadly so many kids are abused and killed by the boyfriends or girlfriends.. but it seems so common now that most children are targeted by the person who is not the parent if that makes sence...
Yeah and some of these predatory men learn how to lie really well. They’d have to, in order to be walking the streets to begin with.
It's disgusting and scary but true unfortunately. Just like many other pdf's that seek out employment or living in an area that gets them closer to their target "likes". School teachers, child coaches, bus drivers, etc. it's dispicable.
This is my biggest fear, from being a Step mother to four boys for 17 year and still counting as even as im no longer with the dad im still there step mother and will still be there for them. But moving forward into a world of dating is so scary i will never give the gender away and NO ONE will be getting near my child. I know im over protective i always have been.
yeah, I agree with you so much. but some mothers are SO clueless. and a lot of them don't believe their daughters when they tell them that they don't want to be around the guy. it's SO disgusting! what the he!! is this world coming to?
My mum had a lot of boyfriends, i remember meeting one of them and waking up in the middle of the night and he was sitting on my bed, he started patting my head and told me to go back to sleep 🫥 i was so creeped out.
Did you tell your mum?
@seonarella I was in foster care at the time and this was my first overnight contact with her. She decided to invite this guy along to sleep over and get totally drunk. Thankfully never had to see her again after that. That was nearly 20yrs ago, I have three little boys of my own and a psychology degree. I dont talk to my mum or dad, they aren't safe people for me or my family.
@@seonarellaI could really connect with Riley, hearing her in that position, because I totally felt it in my bones. My heart is broken for her mother :(
@@toriamigo I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but you sound so strong for you and your boys
@@toriamigoafter what you've gone through you should be so proud of what you've accomplished. Thank you for sharing this.
This happened near me. We were all scared and worried for her. Thank you for covering her case. She deserved so much better.
Another beautiful soul lost to this world 💔 rest in eternal peace sweetheart ❤
He looks disgusting, he is DISGUSTING!!!! How the hell did he wind up in this nice family's home and how did the defence have the UNMITIGATED GAUL to expect him to only get 15 years with the possibility of parole I ask you??
I mean talk about nerve. How in God's name did they expect to get away with it??
Sorry to pose questions but I just cannot credit it. The Prosecution had a field day and rightly so.
Poor kid didn't stand a chance RIP Riley ❤❤
My oldest niece was in the same grade as Riley and the same school. It's so horrible, and my sister in law says he is trying to appeal. It was a beautiful graduation ceremony with a seat set aside for Riley in her memory. RIP Riley, you are missed!
I also understand why my mum never remarried. She was always worried about bringing a strange man into our lives. When I watch cases like this, it makes sense.
I'm sorry, but while he is the only one legally liable for the crime, I cannot fathom binging a sexually aggressive drug user into the home with my children, least of all my beautiful 15 year old girl. I can only imagine a mother who put her own needs before her children. Look at the guy, it's not like he was presenting a lie of who he was. Seeing any of those photos, seeing him on sight I'd be wary. How could she want him, let alone let him near her kids.
It's not a nice thing to say but it's not a nice thing that happened. I don't think Chantal had anything to do with the act itself but I do think she failed to safeguard her daughter from a reprobate creep.
I think it's really important that we are open about why people suspect other family members, since it's not connected to an interest in true crime most of the time. Like Emma has mentioned many times before, we all live within an illusion of safety - we generally speaking don't worry about being killed by a car every time we go to the store, for example. When that illusion of safety is threatened, a lot of people will react to protect it, and in cases regarding the loss of children, people usually do this by putting the rest of the family under suspicion, which enables them to disregard any attempt of empathy, and to tell themselves that it would never happen to them. Why we allow this in society is beyond me, it's gross. Here we have a mother who has already lost her child, and to protect their sense of safety, people threw her under the bus even more in order to pretend that this could never happen to them - as if she hasn't suffered enough already. And most of the time, people will never admit that this is what they are doing, which means they never change their behaviour either, unless they are responsibly confronted. And make no mistake, it destroys lives of innocent people who never get out from a cloud of suspicion they never deserved, and are also deprived of the support they absolutely do deserve.
My heart goes out to Riley's family, I cant imagine the pain, the betrayal and the loss they are going through. Sending all the hugs in the world to them ❤️
Poor Riley😢. Rest in peace sweet child 🙏
Thanks for your brilliant work as always Emma and Pete.❤ Highlight of my day during this miserable half term with kids bouncing off the walls and my boiler deciding to break down! 😖
There’s too many stories of step-dads, and teenage daughters going missing. Mothers need to be aware of who they bring into their homes, with adolescent girls. Sad, but look what happened to Madeline Soto 😢
They often are. Most liars are never caught. Liars are smart people. It’s easier to trick you than you think.
That being said, this one comes off as pretty stupid. But I suppose that’s relative….
We are simply more aware of these things than let's say 50 years ago. My stepdad was the best thing that could ever have happened to me and my mum, wonderful man, I love him dearly. Watching all this true crime content we tend to forget that fortunately most people are good and most step parents are special people who are ready to love, raise and protect their partners children.
Madeline Soto’s mother seems to have purposely overlooked warning signs. I think she was targeted by Stephen Stearns because she had a young daughter.
@@zc6346 agreed. My husband has a good relationship with my 2 oldest children and has been such a good example (that they didn't get from their father) on how a man should behave and treat people.
Why bring a drug addiction near your child..
Because they would rather put their child at risk than be alone.
Another single parent without discernment, bringing any Tom, Dick and Harry into the home ....a druggie ...I mean, what kind of standards were there? Poor lovely teenage girl. The mum no doubt is suffering greatly, but we need to start to call these parents out for bad , actually dangerous choices.
I’ve never caught one of your videos so early here in Raleigh, NC. Much love from across the pond!
Never miss an episode & Emma stays on all night on repeats for my bed time stories, is that wrong? 😂 Would love a deep dive on Mary Bell pleeeeease ❤
If it's wrong there are a hell of a lot of people who are naughty lol ❤
No because I’m the same 😅
Me too!
My mom had a revolving door of step fathers growing up, most of whom were drunks, and I am so grateful nothing bad (well, I mean along the lines of physical/sexual abuse) ever happened to her. Her mom was a wonderful person but unfortunately had ABYSMAL taste in men and spent more time than she should have chasing them when she already had 2 kids after her first divorce (which was with my mom's father, drunk #1). Since she also had to work to support her family, HER mother, my mom's grandmother, largely stepped up and became part mom and also dad to all 4 of the eventual siblings. My mom lived with her grandmother almost all her life until she married my father. And while my dad and I can clash badly over certain things, I'm SO GLAD they're still together, and that I never had to worry about strange guys coming around as a kid. My mom also made sure our house was a "dry" one after her experiences around alcoholics all her life, and she was a stay-at-home mom until I was in my teens. It's amazing, some of the stories she tells me... I think, somehow, she is still the nicest, most nurturing and loving person in her role as a mom. Never yelled, and never laid a hand on me, either. Didn't have to, I listened because I wanted to please her. I'm now 45 and she's *still* spoiling me (and now also my dogs like that are her grandchildren
Just sat down to watch something and this popped up ❤
this is so completely heartbreaking!!! riley deserved soooo much better!!! 💔💔💔
ps… this is reminding me of the ongoing case going on right now with sebastian. i haven’t slept in weeks hoping and praying that he will be found. i know that you’ll be covering his case someday. 🥺🥺🥺
Came with my partner tonight in aberdare thought you were brilliant and felt you very relatable! Thank you, now subscribed
Thank you for covering so many cases with empathy and connection with victims and families. Sadly i know how it feels to lose someone you love with every fibre of your being, so your speech about the loss of amazing people and what they leave behind really sunk in me. I have a hole so deep in my soul, no amount of therapy really can fix it. Let's say i try.
Thank you Emma.
Great coverage on this case. What a sweet girl taken too soon.💔
That precious child being exposed to this predator is beyond sad 😞
Thank you Emma. Really appreciate the early access ❤
Me toooooo 😊❤
Thanks Emma, love the early access. Would like to hear about Paige Doherty one day, I think you would do such a tragic case the justice it deserves ❤
Is that the Scottish case with the sandwich bar owner?
I was running about Whitecrook when that happened and I feel sick thinking about it but I bought a roll off that creep and the fact they took time off his sentence on appeal!?!?!? Are you kidding me!?!?! He should have got a whole life tariff! The wee girl was just going to work. Her mother has been so strong. Do you remeber when they lit up the Titan crane for her? 😢
@@WakeyWakeyEggsandBakeyyes.
Great coverage, as always!
Thank you so much for covering this case! This is my hometown. I have suggested it on several YT channels and podcasts but don't see it covered often bc there isn't a huge amount of info that led up to this tragedy. I remember there being some sort of controversy bc there was someone related in a public office. I believe it was Riley's mom's mother was a judge or something... There was rumor that mom knew something more but I don't think she did. I think the only thing mom is guilty of is her choice of a partner. At first I questioned her account bc it seems odd that she hadn't seen her daughter for so long. It made me think about how often life can get so busy and how often my teenagers and I just pass by each other. Without realizing it, sometimes we go a couple days without having any meaningful contact. After thinking about that, I realized it is absolutely possible. Thank you again for giving Riley the attention she so much deserved!
People aren't going to say their guilty because then they can't claim mental problems. Personally I don't think anyone that will kill cares what others go through or feel. I feel so sorry for families that have to go through this. The loss of family plus all eyes on your family and can't grieve properly.
the mum let her daughter down, but i don't believe she was involved. if she barely knew the man... why was he living in the house????
And surely she noticed her daughter felt uncomfortable around him??
Comforting to know he won’t have an easy time of it in prison. We all know what fellow inmates do to those who harm children.
And there will be plenty in prison who will get off on how he raped a teenage girl and will want to know all the details. Terrifyingly sad but true. There's plenty in prison just like him....that's why they are actually in prison.
Hi Emma, I’d love some merch with your saying ‘I DIGRESS’ that would be awesome xx
Thank you Emma!
Emma I absolutely adore your channel. Here I am cooking listening to your commentary, it is great :)!
Another case that has proven to me that you should never ever trust anyone, thank God I don't and haven't from a very young age and never will
Same. It's an awful way to live though 😢
I’m so sorry you feel that way 😢. I had a wonderful family growing up and moved on to marry a beautiful wonderful man and was married for 44 years before he died in his sleep 😢
If I didn’t watch true crime I wouldn’t know that much about the horrible things humans can do to each other!
I admire that! Like, my life should have taught me by now not to trust yet I do - until the trust is broken ❤
@@WakeyWakeyEggsandBakey it's not really it's just being safe 💪
@@theresarasche3173 unfortunately humans are bizarre species but you have to accept it and move on, it makes you stronger 💪🙏
Your analogies slay me❣️
This case is despicable, the monster/not man who committed this disgusting crime is a total piece of scum.
Who do these predators think they are anyway, why would you even conceive of such a thing to begin with?!?!?! Beyond the pale…
Great case! I love the way ou inject with your sarcasm!! Emma K for president!!! Lol
If he was aggressive like that did the mum not feel or pick up on anything?
Why couldn’t the daughter tell her mum I don’t like him and he scares me?
I know my daughter would and I’d act on it!
I’m not blaming the mum at all she’d never have imagined this but I am pointing out relevant concerning factors….
That poor girl my heart breaks for her and her family and her boyfriend.
Omg thanks em I needed this I've had a disastrous morning trying to get the assistance dog in the car and her escaping and running away from me. Not in a good mood as didnt make it to my new hospital treatment she is normally so good but she hates the car xx
Oh bless her, and bless you! I’m not religious but I am British, hence ‘bless’ ❤❤❤
He has a certain look about him, am not wrong but he would never be near my kids any drug addict would not be. He really does have a look that you know don’t have him near.
I totally thought this, just by the picture!!
YES same here. He gives me the creeps
My father died when I was 9 yo . He loved me so much . By pure accident my mom met my stepfather who was my father's childhood friend. He was an excellent stepdad .
My heart ❤️ goes out to all victims ( live and dead ) of vicious 👹 stepparents..
🙏❣️💔🤍 May God bless you all 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
Thank you for your hard work it really is appreciated. Just wanted to know if you are going to be covering the Lorri and Chad Daybell case. I would love to hear you talk about this one. xx
Thank you Emma 😊❤
I’ve been watching your videos for a while and kept thinking your voice is so familiar. Then I just saw you on a tv show and it then clicked - I’ve been a fan of yours for longer than I even realised 😅❤️
Well presented
I look forward to all your uploads thank you for all your hard work ❤❤❤
Thank you Emma xx
Emma you should cover the Korea case of the doctor and the Nth rooms.
It's horrendous.
Thanks for the early release Em 🌷 Perfect for a Wednesday night. I have 4 daughters so I always have to psych myself up for these ones because I know I’ll end up in tears or Mamma Bear mode!
Hi, I'm exactly the same as I have 2 daughters ❤
Emma you are fantastic ! They way you approach the cases is so interesting as you explore all aspects and look at the Nature vs Nurture
Would you be able and interested to cover the Jarrell Milton case?
Thanks for your deduction to this Chanel. You are amazing ❤❤
The stapdad story is a sad classic really
You have beautiful eyes. Love your content. You put your heart into your videos, and it shows. ❤
Thanks again Emma. Made my Wednesday ❤
Some people are just so stupid to think they can actually literally get away with murder 😖
It’s amazing that these people think that they’re smarter than ALL of law enforcement put together. Letecia Stauch comes to mind.
oh my god, that text is heartbreaking. smart girl, she must've known he was dangerous or any teen girl would've told him to go away please, it's late and she wants privacy. i certainly have said so to my stepdad.. i hope hayden doesn't feel he could've done anything
Off to a wedding rehearsal tonight thought may mss this thank you so much for the early release and your hard work
Thanks as always ❤.
...so the mother knew that her boyfriend was a sexually-aggressive drug user, and she gave him unrestricted access to her 15 year old daughter? I don't know if she should face charges, because I'm sure she's suffering enough, but I'm so tired of hearing this same old story about single mothers letting predators into their children's home.
Stories dealing with WV always get to my heart since it is my birthplace and will always be my home no matter how far away I am now. My god niece was murdered back in 2002 and, even though she has not been found, her killers have been prosecuted. I truly wish you would do a story on her so she is not forgotten. Her name was Samantha Burns. Love watching your episodes Emma and thank you for all that you do in bringing these stories to the light. Cheers
She was one day older than me 💔 fly high angel x
Thanks!
Super kind, thank you my lovely xxx
Hi Emma, I love your true crime channel and I listen to you religiously every single week. Please would you be able to cover the baby Jailyn case? In all the years I’ve binge watched true crime I’ve never ever been affected by a case until now. My heart is shattered into a million pieces and I think about baby Jailyn constantly and can’t help but cry when thinking of the unbearable pain and fear she must of went through, it’s really affecting my mental health as I just cannot stop thinking about her. I’m broken hearted 💔has anyone else seen this case and feel similar to feelings to myself? I’m broken by it. 😢
is the case going to be covered on the channel?
Emma I've watched you for such a long time, you are amazing! I would love for you to help me/us with a situation. How to get someone with as much experience as you is impossible. It Regards domestic violence and child abuse. The child could actually be put back into the hands of her abuser and we've been fighting every corner possible.
This happens all to often. Most recently with Madeline Soto. So sad. Parents do better when picking partners.
Oh, we are spoiled Em! ❤ You're my favourite content creator darling 💕 💖
I can’t help thinking very negatively of her mother for bringing him into her house. I seldom blame the victims, but here I am. All her kids were at risk.
I feel like Stephan Stearns stole a page out of this poor baby's book😢😢
I'm sure you'll cover that when the time is right.
Yay im on time for once. Thanks Emma and Dusted ❤
What an awful but well told case. I imagine that the guilt her mother must feel will cause more than enough turmoil without added rumours. I do think though that if the mum admits that he is sexually aggressive when on drugs, why allow that monster in your home.... But I guess you never think it will happen to your loved ones and they were 2 consenting adults. Poor baby, hope she is at peace now ❤
Great point. If he’s sexually aggressive when he’s on drugs, and apparently he’s on drugs regularly, you’re absolutely putting yourself and your child at risk by allowing that in your life and your family’s home. When weeding out who’s safe to be in your teenage daughter’s home, sexually aggressive and on drugs are both real good reasons to not allow them in your home.
That poor girl was so terrified of him I’m sure
Her poor Mum! 😢
💔💔How did her body get to a skeletal state from just 1 week ? Was she eaten by animals or was it to do with heat? Rip Riley ♥️
Mother's new 'boyfriends' should always be examined closely especially where children are involved and especially teenage girls. How did he think he would ever get away with it? He is not only a murderer but a DUMB murderer!
They always think that they are the smartest person in the room. Because they’re not very bright.
This case is so sad and how bad Haydn must feel after getting that txt. Now we've the Madalene Soto case. I was a single parent and i didnt have relationships while my son was growing up it might not be for everbody but its one way of knowing your child is safe in the home. Im not blaming Rileys mother this monster must have played a good game the sick mofo!
Hi Em! Hope u and family, human and furry, are all well, Xxx have never heard of this case! Its just after 7 on Friday morning!! U are my breakfast telly today!! 😊😊😊❤Xxx
Such a beautiful kid may God keeps ❤️ her in his garden 😢😢😢 my heart breaks 💔 for the family I lost my husband Craig to murder I am sending love to them ❤️ 😢😢😢😢
The fact that Riley was scared of him before her death also makes me wonder if he may have assaulted her previously, too. 😔 Awful.
Can you please do the sad case of Victoria Columbie 😢
😢 so awful what a monster
I don’t want to blame her mom , but my question is why the drug addicted is at home with your kids , can’t believe no background check was done on him , like you put the dude before the kids? No matter what , let’s have this piece of s..t at home? howwww I don’t get it really , poor girl RIP.
He looks already suspicious,I can’t believe no red flags were previously seen, just can’t .
I agree. We know criminals can be charming and deflect their intentions, but the mother stated that he was sexually aggressive when taking drugs.....and the colleague took drugs with him before work. It looks like it was normalised between them. Red flag all the way. Poor Riley was scared before. He was harassing her prior and probably she didn't tell to not upset the mother.
No words a beautiful young child, her life ended by evil!!!!
Emma, please cover the Korean Nth room case. Its shocking!
Id like to see you cover Rebecca Holloway...Iv just recently heard about her on another channel would love one of your famous deep dives on her to see how she ended up becoming what she did!
GOOD MORNING EMMA IM WATCHING THIS BEFORE WORK
Another MONSTER walking beside us 😢😢😢
It is disgusting when a guilty person pleads not guilty when its obvious that they are guilty, but its the defense attorney's that have them plead not guilty
Like Richard Allen. Clearly wants to confess, but the lawyers want a book deal. It’s gross.
Morning Emma and Kenny’s fam xx
I meannnnn this is now evening (v long work day) but morning 😊❤
Situations like this is why i never let anyone i date meet my kids.. this is sooooo heart breaking
Hell, it doesn't have to be the child of someone I love for me to not be sleeping and instead be looking for them. If it was a neighbourhood kid who I've never met I would be out there, and I'm sure many of us would be.
2 videos today! So lucky❤
Only you em can tell cases when it comes to those who are so young…and have had the most horrific things happen… give it absolute justice for Riley and her family.
I really would love you to take the Sarah Payne case on knowing what you know and what happened and with your platform now tell the story the way it should be told 24yrs in July and it still one I will never forget. And her family her mum even wow just wow ❤
If only you were the judge 😢 I totally agree, if they're known to be guilty and still go not guilty they have no remorse so we shouldn't give them any
I truly believe that it’s way too risky to bring a non bio male into a home with children. Your trust and love for the guy is not enough to guarantee that you aren’t letting a predator into your home. I realize there are female predators out there too but let’s face it the stories we hear day in and day out across the globe involve stepdads/boyfriends and children in a majority of cases. Simply put it’s just too high of a risk. No matter my feelings towards a guy it would take a criminal records check, vulnerable sector clearance and a complete psych evaluation before I would even consider moving a guy in with myself and my children(I know…real romantic!😊). You can have a relationship with someone without moving them into the same home at least until you have educated your children and they are old enough to understand and recognize possible signs, and red flags of a perpetrator. I believe the stats say that kids are 40 times more likely to be physically & sexually abused if a non bio male is cohabitating with a mom and her bio children.
Thank you so much Emma for covering this case. You always go above and beyond to make sure the victims and their family members have a voice and on top of that you are educating the rest of us and making us aware of scenarios that could happen so we can be better prepared and insightful in our own lives. All the best, take care🌷😉
Thx Emma😘
Man, just wandering how the mother feels having 2 live with the fact her daughter was killed by the man she brought into her home this so sad😢😢😢😢😢
Please do Dumblanr. Pretty please. That story resonates.with me
RIP Riley. What a sicko.🤬💔💩
The rock comparison was hilarious. Something deeply needed in this tragic case
I wonder if it was him or his defence lawyer who thought it was a good idea for him to plead not guilty..
That poor girl , predators fit themselves into families to do these atrocious things , we got Madeline Soto now , monsters
