Never feel the need to stop commenting for the sake of time. Anyone familiar with Tool knows they are not constricted by time.
Time means nothing unless you're underwater.
Tool is the one and only band where I think you'd struggle to say that any single member could be replaced without drastically altering the sound and feel of the music. Everyone in the band has a distinctive sound/style that would be noticeable in its absence.
Masters of their craft all.
U dont understand. Greats. Are friends that made. Music. In garage
makes you wonder what tool would sound like today had they not replaced Paul D'Amour with Justin Chancellor after Undertow.
@@jonsmith3556 This is what I came here to say. With Paul, they were a great band. With Justin, they are a legendary band.
@@jonsmith3556 silly
Take one of the greatest guitarists of all time, one of the greatest bassists of all time, _absolutely_ one of the greatest drummers of all time, and one of the best metal vocalists and songwriters of all time, put them all together, and what you get is a band that is STILL somehow far greater than the sum of its parts. Tool is just above and apart from everything else. There is no substitute.
Justin chancellor is so under rated.
He carries most of their songs with most not knowing it.
I don't think he, nor Tool, care about where they are rated, to be honest. Think about this, my friend...There is a "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," and Tool isn't in it...but Green Day, somehow, is. I mean...
@@alshurdom6917 spot on. 🤘🏼
I use too try and get people to listen, but tool don’t need fans. That’s why they are so good. they have never been influenced by outsiders.
@@alshurdom6917 Green day?! HFS?! 🤣
Oh I noticed hehe
@@alshurdom6917 Good point.
Tool is probably the best rock band in recent history
*Definitely
You're just beginning your TOOL Journey. Wait until you get into the Lateralus album: Science, Psychology, psychedelic inspirations, polyrythms....so effing good!!!!
Right in Two - Tool! One of my favourites by them
If TOOL was a sports team they would be undefeated in 30 years best band ever ever ever and ever all time!!!!!!!
Yes David!!! More Tool! Your reactions are seriously epic and really makes me love the music even more!
Suggestion: Lateralus by Tool is my favorite. Please clean it from the shed if it's in there.
2002 live concert is a good version of this song to react.
Same that is my favorite song to listen to and play on bass.
I wholeheartedly support this message
To me one of the best rock song ever written! On second, third, forth... place are also Tool songs!!! 🤣🤟
This song is on radio! its the first song i ever heard from tool back when I was a young fella
The whole Ænima album is worth listening to front to back
Adam is like a master tour guide of a mystical journey.
When I think of Adam Jones, I don't think of fast, agile shredding... it's all about his control. Control of his instrument, control of the mood and attitude he's inspiring and control of my attention when I hear it.
But that's true for all of them.
If Adam is busier on guitar it doesn’t leave the room for Danny Carey to shine.
Haunting tones 👍
Definitely do more TOOL!
Rosetta Stoned!!! Definitely one of the best TOOL songs In my opinion. Such a crazy ride and experience.
But please with the "lost keys" section!! One of my all time favorites and in itself is such a journey
Adam Jones is an amazing guitarist. He can shred, but he will actually say he isn't a good guitarist. Tool has the perfect balance in their songs. Even more so as they got older.
Tool is my all time favorite band. :)
I suscribed for Tool.
Rosetta Stoned, Right in Two, The Grudge, Pushit.
Do all studio, all audio.
8:10 well look at Danny. The man's jacked for his late 50s😉
Bill Hicks standup album Arizona Bay was the inspiration for this song. Not Maynard's personal opinion, but Bill's.
On most of their songs the vocals are mixed in with the band like that. I also think that Maynard stands more in the back during live performances to show that he is just one of the instruments. They do a great job at making every person and instrument equally important.
Similar to yourself I have only recently listened to Tool and my god what have I been missing!
Keep the Tool coming!!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole. Tool armys third eye watching you 😎
My mom named me Ian after Ian Anderson from Tull... I'm an enthusiast of both bands, of course... Nice reactions man. I've been listening to Tull since I was born (77), and Tool since Undertow, in an old underground record/skate shop back in the early 90's when that was a thing...
Yes more Tool!!!
Pronunciation was pretty spot on
Love it love it love it. Please do more, any and all Tool, I just need it, to breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive!
Vicarious off the 10,000 days album. Just do it!!
Yup 6/8 time.I love playing this on guitar.
Let's talk about the large lava lamp with the hat on it. I love this channel
#MostImportantThing
#absolutely
How about the other 7 in the room!
@@rayyman6934 he needs smaller hats for the other ones
subbed for ALL the Tool! Descending is one of the greatest pieces of music ever written...
Another fantastic video in the Tool series David!! Aenima is pronounced with a soft "ah" sound, and it's a combination of two words. The latin "anima" translates to soul / life force (often used by Carl Jung who is referenced in 46&2 as well) and "enema", which I'm sure we're all familiar with hahahahaha. Essentially : shit out your soul. Very Tool if you ask me hahahaha :)
Cleansing of the soul would be more accurate to be fair.
Vicarious is a great song by tool as well
Your commentary is 100% correct.
Love this song....and get its more and more relevant every day lmao.
Disposition - Reflection - Triad will blow your mind
Welcome aboard..Enjoy the ride✌️🤟
I think you’d go bonkers for the lateralus album, in particular I want to see your reaction to lateralus the song
They played this song on the radio when it came out. I remember hearing it a lot in highschool on the radio. They definitely bleeped the harsh language though. Great reaction man!
Loved your reaction. No worries about the length of the video. #ToolArmy... we love the long reactions. 🙂
More T❤️❤️L S❤️❤️N please!
As a resident of Arizona I can confirm, Maynard James Keenan speaks truth is this song.
Really enjoyed your reaction! I suggest you "The Grudge" by Tool. I'm shure you'll like it.
I would LOVE to see you react to some prog metal or tech metal. "Condemned to the Gallows" by Between the Buried and Me for prog metal, and "Fuego" or "Armed Strawberry" by Berried Alive for tech metal!
If you do the drum cam for Pneuma, you will see that Danny Carey is still banging those drums efficiently at age 59.. Dude is a machine.
Did, done, check it out
Tool doesn't have a bad song. Check them all out. They progress with every album.
Literally 100% true. One. Hundo. You can't teach that, coach.
46&2, the Pot, and Stinkfist are a must..... great review, as usual
not to say these are their weakest songs, but... uhh..... all of their radio songs? cmon man you can do better than that.
@@13lueBerryBluntz That’s fair. I guess I was thinking of the progression of Tool songs for someone new to them.
@@13lueBerryBluntz Not sure where you live, but in my area, the only song by Tool I have ever heard on local radio is Sober. Needless to say, this part of the country sucks for music exposure.
@@huskerdominator1222 dang, sorry to hear that bud
That thing Maynard sang at the start of the song, commonly written as ‘hey’ actually means water in Malay, written as ‘air’ but pronounced ‘aa-air’. Probably not a coincidence since the lyrics touches a lot on the destructive characteristic of water in large proportion.
Also I dont see that anybody answered about the intro, but that is "YYZ" by rush, named after their local airport in canada. (Thanks dad for raising me right lol)
Tool is such a great band, creatively and musically. You should check out Llateralus or Vicarious :)
Don't know if they're entirely comparable, but I highly recommend checking out Rishloo (Feathergun or Scissorlips) and/or OSI (Radiologue) if you're not familiar. For me, they scratch similar itches as Tool does, and I find the songs very interesting
Your reactions are fantastic man! Going to go back and watch your other Tool reactions. Can't wait for the next one! 👊
I love this reaction. I love your passion, knowledge and vulnerability in your responses.
When I first saw the sober video, when it was first released, I was instantly addicted. It appears the same has happened here. I would like to say, “welcome, please enjoy the ride! There will be none like it!”
Tool is perfection.
Awesome stuff bud. Keep the Tool reactions coming. Can't wait for you to react to "Invincible", "Descending" and "7empest" off their new album. Cheers!
Awesome reaction David! Tool only gets better, happy to see you spiraling out, keep going!
Honestly, I can’t believe you missed them, either. I was at Lolapalooza in 1992 when they were there. MJK is a great artist. Vocals are always pushed back. Check out Pucsifer and A Perfect Circle. 🤷♀️
Where We Go When We Die - Thornhill
Adam Jones was a childhood friend of Tom Morello. He really specializes in very unique sounds and melodic solos. If I had to rank pure prowess on an instrument it HAS to be Danny, on par with Maynard's instrument.
The great TOOL!!!! Please do: In Flames "the chosen pessimist"
Love to hear your commentary on “Right In Two”, my favorite.
Vicariously is my fave Tool song. Lateralus is also pretty epic.....
This is my favorite tool song. Thx for the info
I have heard this one on the radio from time to time, and the edits aren't even that bad since Maynard is more or less whispering. Tool is actually pretty reserved with their swearing; this track might have the most in all of their discography. Fun fact: Adam creates all of their videos. He used to work for Stan Winston Studios before doing the music thing full-time (he was going to come back if it didn't work out) and worked on movies like Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park.
hey i actually knew the intro tune this time. YYZ by Rush!
of all the gems, this is somehow my favorite tool song
Hey Not Important, I just noticed we reached 60K subs, and it’s not quantity, it’s QUALITY SUBS!!!!
Triplets between bass drums and toms be liked..
Ta Ga Ta Ta Ga Ta Ta Ga Ta ..💥
Hey there! Watched your previous videos and gotta say, I love music. And I also love the fact that you are bringing some light to the subject of music theory.
However...
There a song you need to hear, it's now considered "death metal " but look up "Soilders of Doomsday " by Winds of Plauge" you'll be glad to see that a pianist is the lead of the breakdown... here for you.
Tool like to leave you one instrument that you can grip onto while the others go rogue.
They swap that instrument during the track, but never completely abandon you to drown.
Would be really into seeing how you react on Make them suffer (Songs: Neverbloom, Erase me or fireworks). They’re making deathcore/metalcore, but in a very melodic way, always with piano, and they are combining a very dark brutal male voice with a very clear and bright female voice. And there’s so much in theses songs, how everything is working together. Would love to hear your professional view on this.
Greetings from Germany 🤘🏻
Thanks brother!Glad you are getting into Tool!"Keep going.....ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been"🌀🐇
I always show up for Tool! Loving your channel.
Would listen to this early Monday mornings sitting on the train going to intern at a shitty music label in Manhattan just hating life at the time because this song definitely fit that kinda mood lol. Great song. Great band. And Bass player definitely inspired me too.
Keep going! No Tool song is long enough! Their catalog includes songs that must be heard together and some where there are 3 songs together. Can’t wait to hear more. Great reaction
You should totally check out Eidola, they are a great band similar to DGD who has a new LP coming out soon and I think you will personally appreciate their musical journey.
Finally, someone else who knows about them! Can't go wrong with Degenraterra!
On your last video I suggested "Farewell Mona Lisa" by the Dillinger Escape Plan. I think you'd also love "Parasitic Twins" although it's a departure from their typical sound. Soundgarden were major supporters of TDEP. They brought them on tour (TDEP were opening on the tour when Cornell took his life), Chris Cornell was close with TDEP's vocalist Greg Puciato, and Kim Thayil is friends with TDEP's guitarist and primary songwriter Ben Weinman.
You shoulda opened it. Loving your reaction btw.
When you do The Pot, do it live at the Download festival. There aren’t a lot of good lives of Tool since they throw people out for being on their phone but The Pot live at download is really recent and it’s awesome! That show was right before covid cuz I saw them in that tour. Maynard had on the same outfit for my show in New Orleans. Best experience ever, aside from Queen with Adam Lambert lol. The Pot is another in your face song, about hypocrites. It hit #1 and beat out pop hits. Great song.
You'll be listening to them for years and still discover new things in their music
New to this channel! Always fun to follow other people's Tool journeys ;)
You should check out Karnivool aswell, fantastic band!
Really enjoying your Tool ride. I can't believe you missed this band and am very excited to watch you discover them. You have a few more songs until the big questions hits... Is this the best band ever? Yes, yes it is... Peace from WA.
I love your reactions. Oh, to be able to experience Tool’s music for the first time. Keep it up!
A great song to hear, to just close your eyes and listen, because there's no video for it.. is their live version of Push It, from their Salival album.
It's an amazing journey
PLEASE DO A NEW BAND AND SONG-
SION - THE BLADE!!
Howard Jones is 50 years old and still the most amazing vocalist. And Jared Dines made the project and is the lead guitarist (he’s a huge UA-camr you may have heard of while checking out metal)
you said it was in a box and you don`t care to much about it unti the first time you see it in that reaction video... what you didn`t know it was a Pandora`s Box. now you are taken by it like everyone of us before. 😄😎🤘
Great job. 👍
Still hoping to see you dissect some Karnivool. Either Goliath, The Caudal Lure or New Day
Please do a Reaction vid for Periphery. If you love a vocalist with range and 7-8 string madness.
Daveee, im back here again asking for some gojira! I really think you would enjoy their music, they are a really different metal band, their musicianship is amazing!
I would suggest born in winter for starting out!
I feel like you'd really really like Nothing But Thieves, I highly recommend Unperson, Conner has such an amazing voice and they're such an incredible band
Lateralus!
Great reaction. Love your passion and enthusiasm for music. Tool is an experience, enjoy the rabbit hole!
Cool shirt!
Schism is where it’s at. Then Parabol Parabola
This seems like an apt choice for "cleaning out the shed" 😜
If you're doing old music check out cemetery gates by Pantera very beautiful metal song
It probably has been said before but I'll say it anyway. The mix is very much intentional. Maynard is to be seen as another instrument, not in the forefront as a "front man". In other projects of his that is different. In A Perfect Circle his vocals are more "typically" placed in the mix
Tool is always a journey, and a unique one at that. There are so many amazing songs for you too choose from. If you want to stay in the Aenima album, I would suggest Eulogy or Third Eye (which is much more an experience than a song). The Lateralus album is, imo, their transcendent peak, something that belongs in the tier of albums with Dark Side of the Moon. From that album, every single song is phenomenal in its own way but I'd suggest starting with: The Grudge, Schism, Lateralus, and then take on the monster opus that is Disposition+Reflection+Triad combined
I second this
disposition/reflection/triad
Best of TOOL. I listen to those 3 everyday...its a must.
Parabol parabola
