Jungian theories also factor into 46 and 2. Really they factor into a great many Tool songs. It's nice to listen to a band that uses complex ideas instead the blah blah bitch, blah blah money, blah blah who gives a shit. We need more bands like Tool that are willing to use intelligence in their music yet will still have the messages be relatable. Tool inspired me to study Jungian psychology further and i've used the knowledge in my artwork and have applied it to various writings as well. I owe this band a great deal of thanks for that inspiration.
I like the theory of the superman of the phiosopher Nietzsche. I think that the theory of the superman is compatible with the philosophy of the song 46 and 2: “Overman” refers to Nietzsche’s conception of a man who has literally overcome himself and human nature. In essence, an Overman is one who has superseded the bondage of the human condition and reached a liberated state - one of free play and creativity. This state can be seen as the state of the pure individual, a person unencumbered by the influences and authorities of society and other people. This person wills their own destiny, creates their own values, and dances with the game of life to the tune of their own spirit.
Except counter to that theory, Missus Dietary Lordship is the principle developed by Norman Van Garpman in the Overstrain Department of Lichtenstein General Pain Institute in the 1940s that has at its core " Blungana Seep ", a noted metaphysical Darwinian sub-theory that strikes at the very core of ones desire to stress numbers and marginalise subscript metaphors. The " 46 and 2 " as stated in Tool's searing pop jazz composition is an example of men at war, men at play and men being blungana beings...in the truest sense of the word " seep ". Nobody, i stress no-one.... human, alien or witch of blood can ever fully grasp the profundity of running into a blind stinkpig whilst reversing a four wheel buggy jeep down a misty verdant Dorking country lane at the height of midsummer. It can be hypothesised, guessed at, sure, whatever.......but without the porky blood on " our own hands ", how can Overlord Overman ( chapter 37, verse 16.2, hymn 9 ) ever create the bondage authoritarian post-socialist utopia seen in abundance in such fledgling rural dioceses as Montevideo or Blanketsville Ohio. Can it?? who can say, who can judge, who can coco....i'm sure as damn as turmuric that Nietschke, Darwin, Overman and Wilma Flinstone, and other such esteemed psycho trophic alfafa entities could stand in a perfectly straight line together in the breaking of the dawn, unbutton their zippers and piss with the ease of a hunchback that had got the all clear for the Saturday morning five a side mud wrestling challenge for bespectacled Actuaries.... In their defence they're all wishing for the moon!! Blungana's revenge, so sweet so acrid..... But i ask, master Lord of the Atkinson Diet....where is the humanity???? please??? where art thou??

That is the name of the album and the meaning of that (Ænima) is generally the theme of the album. And the song, Ænema is a play on the word enema, which is symbolic to LA being flushed away like an enema. Ok bye now.
Everyone should understand the song. What's not to understand lol. I don't get why people trying to slap so much more meaning to it. Thought this interview sucked though lol
You’ll never truly understand what Maynard was singing about in that song. The closest you’ll ever get is by watching my video about the west coast of North America. Ok...BYE.
I love how the interviewer is interviewing Maynard and billy from APC but asking about Tool. I bet Maynard wanted to troll so bad and billy was a bit irritated
I’m a huge fan of Tool and Rush, but one common theme that bothers me about both... is the song writers (Neil Peart drummer writes for Rush) is the intellectual arrogance by both. Finger pointing, mirror in hand as I write this. It’s a real delicate balance becoming awake and aware to not fall into this trap. Haven’t myself gotten that balance yet (maybe never), but the awareness is helpful.

Kierkegaard started the concept of going towards that which makes you uncomfortable.....especially existential anxiety to grow. He also said the relation of the increase of consciousness is equal to the increase of despair. Jung is new to the game.
