Justin, hi. Just wanted to take a chance and thank you for addressing this topic. I've been trying for quite some time now to reach a good sound out of EAD-10 with silent solution (Although it was not built for that). I understand now it's probably possible only with triggers. Another option I haven't tried yet is RTOP Black Holes (they are not sold in my country ;). They are known to be "preserving the tone" better than mesh heads. So if you have a chance to snap one on a snare and give it a shot, please share the experience.
Thanks again for all the videos about the EAD-10 and the others as well ;)

If you put a trigger on the snare drum that has a mesh head it will sound great, but must use a trigger. I have the Yamaha Dual Zone snare trigger and it sounds pretty dang good with a mesh head.

Also, it does work live very well, but you really need to know about preventing feedback and putting your PA as far away as possible. You have to use IEM (no drum monitors). For smaller venues, you can can turn down the mic input and put the triggers through the PA. I do wish yamaha put more trigger inputs I the ead10.
You probably can use this with mesh heads and yamaha 3-zone cymbals by turning down the mic all the way and just using the triggers (splitting the kick, and snare inputs).

Hi Justin. Has anyone tried the bh triggers with the Evans dbOne cymbals.
Do have any advice on cymbal triggers.
I'm thinking of getting the Evans dbOne heads and cymbals.
Do you think the kit will sound different when the Evansdb One is used with the Yamaha EAD10 ? Will it sound better than the sounds u got in this video
Would u advice using the DDrum Pro triggers with the EAD10 to make it sound better
And lastly any advice on cymbal triggers
I have constraints on volume when i play so hence all the questions.
Sorry if it sounds stupid. Hoping to hear from you soon. Cheers

Do you think it would sound weird live to have a mesh head just on the snare (with a separate trigger) and still have everything running through the PA? Using it for 80s dance music and I like the snare effects

Have you heard of KZ in ears? They range from $20-$60 on amazon depending on the model. I plan on ordering a set soon but have never listened to high end monitors. It would be kind of cool if you ordered a pair to see how they sound in comparison to some higher end headphones or in ears.

I bought the ZS3 model for $15 on ebay. They fit and seal very well with the right earpiece. Compare favorably with my Sony mdr-7506 headphones which are a longtime studio standard. Only thing i dont like is cord is a little short but you can buy replacements and convert to bluetooth also. Really happy with them. Try them. Even if you dont like you will only be out a few bucks.

    Hi,
Spent a lot of hours watching your vid's and for sure I'm subscribed.
My Issue, I own a Yamaha Oak Custom acoustic set with expensive cymbals, and I found my self playing less and less on it because it is so loud! Yah I love the snare sound but it's attacking my ear, so I'm using headphones, and when playing along music I have to crank the headphones up real loud so the drums don't bleed in so much, bottom line I cannot enjoy a comfortable level of playing drums together with iTunes or my own produces music. I'm also tired of mic/mixer setup. So I was dreaming of an eDrum set.
Problem with that is unless I play on the TD50 the cheaper ones sound awful, and I"m not willing to fire up Addictive/superior-3 every time I want to knock my self out on the set.
I was ripped inside my self on a solution... I came to the conclusion to get the Yamaha DTX 502 because of the 3 zone cymbals and 3 zone snare. I haven't found a store yet who had it on demo to try it. and the TD17 did not impress me to dish about 2K for it. (I don't like the Roland flavor snares) the Strike is huge and won't fit... So My Question. what about I get the Yamaha EAD10, replace the oak snare - which is the loudest piece of the kit - with a Yamaha 3 zone snare pad, and hook it up to the EAD10. would that work? does the EAD10 have snare sounds? does it support as a layered sampled snare? I feel that the EAD10 would allow me to stay with my real cymbals, record them without a full mic/stands/wires/mixer/messy setup, and also play along iTunes, and it won't be so loud! and my headphones could stay at a reasonable level! (or should I buy another snare which is not as loud... the Yamaha Oak snare is extremely loud)
    whats your opinion? Thanks!!

Yoel Klein It sounds like you are in desperate need of some sound isolating in-ears, or sound isolating headphones, that you can combine with earplugs. The in-ears would work a little better 👍
