Very nice recap video Justin!! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!!
Good review! Thanks Merry Christmas Y'all!
Excellent, Justin! Your videos are the best! ... and thanks for the shout out! BTW - I helped design and program the Medeli MZ928.
I would LOVE to see you do a deep dive on V2 of Sensory Percussion. The way they’ve revamped the software and hardware is MASSIVE and really opens it up to more accessibility (lots of ways to use other MIDI/triggers/control options). The modular approach is insane and the things I’ve accomplished with it over V1 are night and day.
Glad to hear some first hand experience with it :)
Nitro Max sounds 3X better than its predecessor. Night and day on both sounds and sensitivity/crosstalk control.
I hate the rack, however. Flimsy as f*ck.
I've actually had a chance to play some of the EF-Note e-Drums at NAMM, and I love them, they have great response, great sounds, of course the shells are amazing
Hey Justin.. if you have not done it already... an in-depth look at hihats and how good they actually are in regards to sound. Do the sound react after a strike when you move the pedal.... crossfades.. splash ups and so on... simply put.. is the hihat a "sound selector" or an organic experience on hi end/low end and so on. :)
Medeli Mz 928 looks really good. I hope you will make video for this drum set soon.
Great run down!
I am a simple man, I see 65 drums and I click watch!
I L❤VE the stage box & "Ozone" looking e-cymbal pad on the 707 Full. But how is the Tone???
Is there any info on the Millenium MPS 1000? I am very tempted to use it to run VSTs, would love it if the sold it without a module.
I didn't know e drums were so advanced...Sold my Roland a while back and now looking for a super cheap kit to just practice chops quietly. Great video
Hi. I have been watching your videos while trying to get an electric drums that will not disturb the neighbors and will use the drums givjng drum lessons and also for rehearsals with my band while i will be rehearsing with it. I need something that's not expensive but will last and not break so quick
Fingers crossed Roland gets their heads out of their butts and actually offers better stock sounds in a new update to the TD27/50 modules. Was very disappointed in the stock kits and EDrum Workshop came in clutch with some really good kits and samples for my TD27 module on my VAD504. Otherwise I really wish the EFnote kits had some sort of SD capabilities for importing samples and processed kits into it.
E drum workshop... Cheap samples and sound ridiculously good.
I agree tho, the stock samples are poopookaakaa
I wish I could get the chance to play an efnote kit. But I’m broke rn. Put thousands of dollars this year into an acoustic kit 😂
Justin,
How do I connect Bluetooth to my Strike Module for the Headphones?
One thing I'd really like to see in the future is an open source e-drum module that can host any and every drum VSTi on the planet, somewhat similar to the Pearl Module but an open source design that will host any VST drum library in the world. There are so many great sounding libraries out there it would be great to have an e-drum module where you just load up your favorite VST drum library and be good to go. If I, as a non drummer, am thinking about this, then I'm sure some hardware and software developers are thinking about this as well. Something to consider for the future of e-drums?
If you're just talking about the sounds, you can do that with any module that lets you import your own multi-layer samples.
If you're talking about the programs themselves--paid VSTs refuse to even support Linux.
Unfortunately a Surface + edrumin is the closest we're realistically going to get for a while :/
@@BFedie518 Thanks for the feedback. What I'm kind of imagining is more along the lines of the old Muse Receptor that use to host VSTi's. But geared more toward e-drums. It would kind of be like a portable computer/edrum module that could host every Drum VSTi on the planet and configure those drum VSTi's to any existing e-drum set up. We have the technology to do that kind of a build. It's just a matter of who is going to pull the trigger on that idea first. If I had the engineering chops I'd probably take a crack at coming up with at least a working prototype.
@@BFedie518Thanks for the feedback, Brandon. You're probably right about getting the manufacturers of Drum VSTi's to play along. Maybe if someone could work out some kind of Licensing deal with them that may convince some reluctant Drum VSTi manufactures that it could work in their best interests to expand their market share. Just a thought.
@@justanotherpeasant3442 One can always hope.
@@BFedie518What's that old saying? "Hope springs eternal" . Speaking of hope, I hope some clever entrepreneur with a bit of legal savy reads these comments and realizes there's a market for this idea.
Hey Justin do you think that medeli module is the same as the strike module ??? Why aren't medeli drums distributed here in the states?
could you please do a review of the Mandala Pad V3 in 2024?
Would love to see proper reviews of medeli and unlock drums/products
Those smart pads look interesting
Kinda just depends if they send one in to be reviewed or not. I'm interested to see final pricing on the Medeli kit
You missed that the D2 version of the Millennium MPS 1000 came out in March of this year. A month after I bought the 2022 version. 🙄
Ok im looking for an electronic drum set what brand is the best to buy for the first timers
Looking between a Roland td07kvx vs titan 70? Is the Roland worth extra 400??
Our kits, like the T950 series are the best drums that you can buy in the mid tier price point.
You guys should send him a kit so he can review it! There’s not a lot of material on your stuff and Justin is the perfect dude to review them.
I wonder how the MEDELI compare to the STRIKE Pro module
Is Simmons fairly similar to Millennium drums? They seem similar.
Also really cool and informative channel. Please, keep it up. :)
Simmons is kinda/sorta the USA equivalent to Millennium in the EU. Simmons is a house brand of Guitar Center, and Millennium is the house brand of Thommen. Different manufactures make the drums though.
@@65Drums Good to know. Thanks for the reply.
Any thoughts on Lemon kits like the T 950?
I run the USA distribution out of San Diego. I can answer any questions!
@@Lemon_Drums_USAWhat’s the best place to buy from to get it in less than 2-3 months?
and the Millenium edrum kit? dont know if that kit was release this year
It was a 2022 release, I almost included it but had to remove it
Interested in if you think the Simmons Titan 70 is a worthy budget buy? Looking to pick one up...
For what it's worth, I've had one for a few weeks and love it. It's my first kit, wanted one for a while with all the features of the Titan 70 but that used to be impossible to get for less than a grand afaik. I think the price is great especially when they're $700 or less.
I replaced the stock kick pedal with a double pedal and the kick pad is fantastic. Plenty of surface area and stays planted no matter how much I abuse it. The mesh heads and cymbal pads are surprisingly durable. I've been beating the hell out of them and already worn out the included sticks yet the heads still look new.
Good luck!
Thank you @@BimmyRee for all of your insight! I really appreciate it!
If budget wasn’t a concern, which kit would you pick for best feel, internal sounds, and features??? Like top tier if you won the lottery!!?
I'd go for a VAD roland
I just want something small and durable that I can use my samples and external drum libraries with
I'm looking forward to the evolution of Donner. 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Here’s hoping 🤞
I was keeping my eye on that donner 500 pro.
Can you elaborate on why you disliked it?
No bell zone, the sounds weren't good, and it's priced a tad high for me.
I'm a little disappointed that so much. Attention is being put on the fact that the Alyssa's Nitro max's rack is unstable. Because I just bought it and it doesn't move at all with me. I don't know maybe i'm playing it In just the right configuration, but it's pretty solid. And I'm actually quite impressed with it. And the fact that it has so much upgrade capability. I think that it hasn't been overhyped. I think it's gotten the justified amount of attention. I don't think it's truly understood how much versatility This kit has and for its price range. You don't have to dump a bunch of money into it to upgrade it to make it a pro. Kit
I need an electronic drum kit
IMHO, Sensory Percussion is incomparable with any of these drum kits; the modular approach and control is simply on a different level from traditional drum triggers. It takes a second to set up, but the control and possibilities are unparalleled.
i expected to see the mps 750x pro. although you may not have heard much of it because its a european brand
I was this close to, including it. But after some further digging during editing, turns out it actually came out in 2022.
@@65Drums damn i never realised that. love your videos anyway
Simmons Titan 70 All day long at its price point!
wireless adds extra 2ms latency which is not acceptable if you already using virtual instrument.
Is Roland td17-kvx2 still the best e-drum set to get for ~$2k?
All modules aside, if you're using drum software like Perfect Drums, etc. wouldn't that cancel any argument about the quality of sounds coming from the module out of the box? If quality sounds is your goal, wouldn't the software take care of that no matter what kit you use? I used to have the Roland KVX-2 with all the extra cymbals, kick pads, etc. and the module was great but I used Perfect Drums to really get the sound I wanted. Couldn't this be applied to say the Donner DED200 or any of the Alesis kits? It's just such a jump in price from Donner's 400-500 bucks to 2000 for the roland higher end stuff.
Trigger accuracy is one part we're leaving out. Love or hate the Japanese brands, their triggering is just better than some of the cheaper Chinese kits. But in general I do agree with you that software does help save a lot of money. I use Superior Drummer 3 every day on my kit. I'm still not a fan of Donner yet
Trigger input accuracy still matters. For example they older Alesis DM10 has a lot of trigger input innacuracy
trigger accuracy, latency, ghost notes, major recording issues and etc. in my opinion, youre better off using a module
uwu
I was super psyched about unlock drums stuff until I found out they were from Israel, needless to say I’m not spending a single cent on them. Everything else is super cool though, this was overall a really exciting year for electronic drums and I can’t wait to see how things proceed from here!
So you don't have an issue with their website showing no real contact information, website built by a school kid, no real information about their "wonderful" products, no support section i.e. manuals, trigger settings, most of the pads have centre triggers (hot spotting), poor product design, poor quality materials, videos with no depth, etc etc etc.
@@djashjones oh I definitely had a problem with all that stuff afterwards 😂 believe me I noticed that afterwards in addition to the more obvious stuff
@@serbadork They do make Lemon cymbals look top tier, lol.
I suggest if you have a nice set of drums pre-roland you keep them. Roland is going to ruin it all with their electronic trash.
Started being shipped from occupied Palestine*
Mind your own business lil bro💀
No.
We don’t talk politics here. Shut up and get better at the drums
Now that Roland owns everything they're going to start making everything electronic. And it's junk. no self-respecting drummer would buy that junk
Actually Roland is a lot better quality than most brands.
@@Charles-lane277 bull sh!t. Maybe for electronic junk. But NOT for real drums. And no self respecting drummer would play that crap on a serious level.
@@morgunstyles7253why must you have such an elitist mind set? i play both and enjoy both and currently use an electronic as my main. higher end electronic sets are not junk at all lol
