Hi Krazy Rabbit, thanks for making this video to answer my question. I tried to get it to work with just MIDI over USB in both directions (with no second MIDI cable - from keyboard to OXI). So the keyboard connected to the MacBook, into Ableton and from Ableton to OXI over a USB cable. But I couldn't get it to work. Thanks for your solution.
Hey Wabbit! thx for the cool clips…! I’m working on some of the same things , sequencing the tr8s and just now recording midi clips into Ableton sessions. I’m just getting past the learning curve on all the oxi buttons so thx for ur help on some of that!
Thank you for the videos. I appreciate the setup and connections explained so many videos don’t describe the connections. I’m wanting to use my oxi with 6 hardware synths. And trying to decide how it all fits in with my abelton setup. Any suggestions. I have all this gear lots of iOS apps lots of vst lots of hardware synths and want to master the oxi as main sequencer. Thank you for sharing. Keep them coming they help a lot
Less is more. I know that doesn’t answer your question perhaps. I don’t have six hardware synths yet when I made this video, frustration grew out of trying to throw the kitchen sink at things. Start small.
hi thank you again for video, another question...i have the same sewtup and when. i connected it the keyboard IS not inputting notes to the ox1. what are the midi connections and channels you used. i obviously have a midi setting on the oxi wrong. as the title says i need to know how to connect a keyboard to play the notes
So I'm wanting to use either my hydrasynth keyboard or a plain midi keyboard to control OB6, B2600 and VST synths while also using the Oxi to send midi out to hardware in Split mode. Where would it make most sense to connect the midi keyboard? Through audio interface into daw, or like you did here.
I would plug it into where ever will allow you use of the keyboard in the way you intend to use it. Do you want to only control DAW? The DAW. Hardware, OXI. Everything? Depends on your setup. I have learned the best answer is to try all options to find the one that works for you. It might take some time and frustration but you will learn things you might not have known but more importantly, find the best set up for you. Then in a few weeks, you change it up! All the best!
Hey thanks for the video I have my keyboard connected and it’s working but I don’t get a gate in I see on the keyboard view on the oxi that I’m setting the notes but i don’t get a trigger from it. I’ve read something about some options first the midi in filtering which is quite simple and then the Live MIDI looper with Rec activation by MIDI in and Rec Extend options. Does anyone have an idea for me ?

For Mac mini go to audio midi setup and click Bluetooth in upper right. Them connect and you’re good to go

Is there a way to get a 4 beat count in when recording the midi?
I looked at the manual and there is a midi metronome. It's on page 93. Have a look and see if that answers your question
@@krazywabbit OK, I will give it ago once I put my kid to sleep lol.

Thx, I would be very interested but unfortunately it seems like Oxi One is quantizing the inputed notes ?
Try going into the settings>Midi> Keyb Scale Note Quantize. I think it is on by default. Try selecting off and see if that works?
OH, going to look in the manual because I don't have the OXI. Thank you for the answer ! @@krazywabbit

Are you on their Discord? Might be able to find an answer there.
Yes but I didn’t find anything @@krazywabbit
