On Robert’s right is John Paul Jones their bass and keyboard player. On his left (guy with ponytail) is Jimmy Page, their lead guitarist and he wrote this song. The drummer is Jason Bonham, son of their original drummer who was playing his dad’s kit and wearing his signature hat. You may have noticed at the end that he looks towards heaven, remembering his dad. Also Robert is Jason’s godfather. Thank you so much for reacting to this. I know I mentioned it a couple of times after you reacted to Heart and then Led Zeppelin and just heard your comment tonight about not taking suggestions from your UA-cam channel so I’m super glad someone else did. One final note, after the performance Robert found the Wilson’s and told them he usually doesn’t like covers of Stairway because they never do it right, but they did a great job and he really loved their performance.
That guy smiling, looking at the band was JIMMY PAGE the guitarist of Led Zeppelin!! He is the band! He really showed his emotions with their performance! And Robert had a tear in his eye!
I had to recoil in amazement when you said she's 62 My fucking dumb ass completely neglected that fact and I've cried tears to this performance a few times 😂
Apparently Robert Plant had asked Jason Bonham to attend the event in place of his late father John. Jason had told Robert that he had other commitments and was not able to attend the event. In another video out there they introduce Jason and you can see Robert point at him and laugh as he was completely surprised and happy to see him performing! Such an amazing tribute!!
Supposedly it was a bit deeper than that. Plant was evidently quite upset, probably angry, that Jason could not make the show to sit with them. After all, it was an important occasion that honored his late father, he should be there. I think Jason was entirely justified in keeping it a secret. How often do you get a chance to surprise Robert Plant one of the fore-fathers of modern rock with a performance of one of his own songs, in your own father's kit and place? Epic, and you could see Plant's happiness at the surprise of Jason being there after all, and of being punked the way he had in this circumstance.
Yes, John Bonham, the GOAT drummer, died OD'ing on Alcohol....which broke up the band. His son, Jason, was the drummer in this video. The hats worn were in homage to his father.
I'm with you. Bonus that you can understand the words she's singing! Some will say it's not fair to compare because of the choir. Well I heard them do this live and they didn't need a choir!!
So happy you also heard this version. Heart can do anything imo. Ann’s voice is second to NONE !!! Having seen them many times, they never disappointed. Both also very down to earth.
If you'd started at the intro of heart the announcer said Jason Bonham on drums you'd seen Robert Plant stand up and point down at Jason. It's because Plant ask Jason to come and represent his dad. Jason said wish he could but he had a gig he couldn't get out of.
That big smile, Jimmy Page! The two others are Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. That is Led Zeppelin!!! Heart definitely amazing, the only ones who could do this right! What an honor for one of the GOATs!
Obviously prefer the original but this version by Heart, especially with the arrangement and the choir, comes a close second. Having the guts to even attempt to cover that song in front of the band themselves is worthy in itself. I cannot imagine anyone else managing to pull it off. Heart was an inspired choice.
As regards of Ann's voice, you are right she sounds different bc of age. However, all of the songs that you listened from Heart are mostly hard rock or metal songs. But they also have more laid back and folky songs from the 70s where Ann sings in a different way. For example, "Dreamboat Annie", "Love Alive" or "Dog and a Butterfly". You should check them out!
I and my son went to see Mammoth (fucking fantastic!) and the opener was Plush. They covered Barracuda and straight nailed it. I love great female voices.
During the original Robert nearly burst to tears when the choir breaks out. That footage got clipped. Jimmy page and John Paul Jones are seated the left and right of Robert. Jimmy is the writer and composer of all Led Zep's catalog.
❤ This was so cool. Jason Bondham said no one can cover Zeppelin as good as Heart does. The first time I heard Heart cover Stairway To Heaven was in 1976 at The Aquarius Club in Seattle.
It always amazes me that hardly no one ever notices that Kyle Gass ( one half of tenacious d) is playing acoustic guitar, and Jack Black was the one that did the honors of led zeppelin ✌️
Some days all you need is a little Ann and Nancy Wilson in your life. Robert Plant has always said that he hates when people cover his music but at the end of this performance he’s in tears. The drummer is Jason Bonham who is the son of the original Zepplin drummer. Everyone wearing boller hats are also a tribute to Jon Bonham.
NOTHING beats the original of course but Ann Wilson did a great job. It made me emotional to watch LZ reacting to their masterpiece. They must've had so much going through their minds.
That guy with the nice smile...I think you were talking about Jimmy Page. It was Robert Plant, Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones. The drummer was Jason Bonham, Led Zeppelin's drummer, John Bonham's son wearing his father's trademark bowler hat, as was the choir in tribute to his dad. Did you see Robert Plant cry? He said seeing Jason on stage like that just brought him back to the days when John Bonham was with them.
Check out the cover version of The Battle Of Evermore done by Heart..There is a few different live versions up here..Nobody has done a reaction to this song yet..You would be the first..I think you'd be quite impressed...
You can't really compare a tribute to the original. I guarantee you Ann wasn't setting out to do a better version, she was just wanting to do it justice to honor the Zep guys. Plus, with a song as classic as Stairway nothing will ever be viewed as "better" no matter how good it may be. The original has it's own feel and mood that really can't be recreated or copied. The Heart version comes close because of the Zeppelin imagery at the beginning of the video -- as close as anyone probably can -- but it's still not the same. But with that said there is no one else on earth better to do a Zeppelin tribute than Ann Wilson. That was a masterful choice by the Kennedy Center people.
that was Jimmy Paige the gutitar player . and yes that was the drummers son that passed away during the height of the band in fact they split up after his death. that was his son who was young when he passed playing as a tribute to his father
Jimmy Page wrote the arrangements of this dong- then Robert Plant wrote the lyrics- the drummer , Jsson-is the son of John Bonham- Zepplin`s late drummer
I'm confused Anton. I always find your thoughts and your reactions incisive and usually spot-on. But what a strange thing to ask ... if we preferred the original Led Zeppelin version vs. Heart's tribute. Because you only recently heard the full, original Led Zeppelin version leaves you without any real perspective. The original was recorded and released over 50 years ago and had an immediate and profound impact on the music world, which only grew in stature as the years went by. It is always in the top five of the greatest rock songs ever written. And that's where it should remain. The performance by Heart was a tribute to Led Zeppelin's brilliance, and official recognition by the US government arts program, and a better band could not have been picked to cover it, because Ann Wilson's voice has so many similarities to Robert Plant's voice. The original is always going to be better because it's the original. But everyone who has ever watched this tribute has agreed that this is definitely the best cover of the original that they have ever seen or heard. I think maybe the challenge here is that you did the reactions basically back to back, without having the knowledge or perspective of the impact of the original, plus the knowledge that all three of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin were in the balcony that night, and the one member of Led Zeppelin who had passed away, John Bonham, was represented by his son Jason Bonham, who played the drums in this tribute, which made it all the more special. Guess that's all I really wanted to say. I don't have a criticism or a recommendation. Some reactors like to have a little advance knowledge of what they are getting ready to react to, others like to go into it completely blind. In this case, going into it completely blind left you without several main details that would have helped you appreciate and understand this tribute better. Keep up the great work ... as I said I do appreciate and enjoy your knowledgeable, intelligent and insightful commentaries. Also you have a great personality, a great smile and an overall handsome countenance, which are just bonus points lol. ☮️ Steve in Kansas
Nothing that makes me more frustrated than the uselessness of comparing one artist to another, one song to another, one band to another, one version to another. You literally just finished saying that your expectations had robbed you of the opportunity to spontaneously feel on many occasions. Music like all forms of art, is subjective. You can't declare that a song or version is best. You can only describe how something makes you feel personally. Even if everyone else in the world disagrees with you, it does not discount your own personal feelings, which are colored by your own preferences, your upbring, your environment, your experiences. ☮️ Steve

If you didn't get chills when Ann starts singing and the choir comes in you won't ever get them.
Or rather, if you don't get chills or get emotional.......... check for a pulse!
That guy smiling, looking at the band was JIMMY PAGE the guitarist of Led Zeppelin!! He is the band! He really showed his emotions with their performance! And Robert had a tear in his eye!
I love Jimmy. He looks like a kid in a candy store throughout this video.
The whole band minus deceased drummer John Bonham was there. John’s son Jason is on drums here.
The dude with the ponytail is Jimmy Page, the founder and guitarist of Led Zeppelin
BTW, toward the end the camera showing the audience. The person they showed was Bonnie Raitt.
They smashed this. Greatest rock tribute cover ever!
I had to recoil in amazement when you said she's 62
My fucking dumb ass completely neglected that fact and I've cried tears to this performance a few times 😂

Among the music giants rocking out to this in the audience were Bonnie Raitt, Irene Cara, and Yo Yo Ma...
Also Debbie Allen
Almost 5 decades of talent put behind this voice
if i am correct, one of the original members passed away and the drummer is his son.
Yes, John Bonham, the GOAT drummer, died OD'ing on Alcohol....which broke up the band. His son, Jason, was the drummer in this video. The hats worn were in homage to his father.
Not only is Jason replacing his dad as drummer but he is playing his dad’s drum kit
I'll probably catch hell for this but I prefer Hearts version more. Ann kills it.
Same!
I'm with you. Bonus that you can understand the words she's singing! Some will say it's not fair to compare because of the choir. Well I heard them do this live and they didn't need a choir!!
This was a tribute to Led Zeppelin

Gives me chills, occasional tears😉 every time!♥️✌

Miss your reacruons. This is a great one
If you don't think that's spectacular, you're dead inside.

Saw Heart in concert several years ago. They were just as fantastic as ever. Ann's voice has aged like fine wine. And this was spectacular.
The guy on the right is Jimmy Page. One of the greatest if not the greatest guitarists of all time! Part of the Band
Love Ann and Nancy Wilson Heart is my Favorite Rock & Roll Band
As regards of Ann's voice, you are right she sounds different bc of age. However, all of the songs that you listened from Heart are mostly hard rock or metal songs. But they also have more laid back and folky songs from the 70s where Ann sings in a different way.

@@mikefetterman6782 Page contributed lyrically on most songs.
she was 62 and sick lol
The guy to the right was Jimmy Page!! ONLY Heart could EVER do the cover of Led Zeppelin, like they did. They slayed it!!!!
The Wilson sisters are AMAZING
This version always makes me cry
❤ This was so cool. Jason Bondham said no one can cover Zeppelin as good as Heart does. The first time I heard Heart cover Stairway To Heaven was in 1976 at The Aquarius Club in Seattle.
Magnificent!
Robert Plant notoriously hates people covering this song because they butcher it but Plant said they did this song and cover justice.
Facts. An artist could not ask for better praise or a more meaningful acknowledgement.
Heart worshipped LZ and to this day they include a few Zep tunes in their concert song list .
This is one of the reasons why Heart - at least the Ann/Nancy/Leese/Fisher/Derosier/Fossen lineup - were nicknamed "Little Zep".
This is a masterpiece ! Well done Heart 💗
And john B. The original drummer who passed away his son was the drummer
@7:44 - If you read his lips, you can see Plant say to Page, "Not bad."
It always amazes me that hardly no one ever notices that Kyle Gass ( one half of tenacious d) is playing acoustic guitar, and Jack Black was the one that did the honors of led zeppelin ✌️
I never noticed that!
I can't watch this clip enough!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Does not get better than this!
The drummer is Jason, John Bonham’s son. The bowler hats are in honor of John. He always wore one.

I liked the poneytail guys reaction to the guitar solo. His grin made me smile.
The ponytail guy is Jimmy Paige.
Check out the cover version of The Battle Of Evermore done by Heart..There is a few different live versions up here..Nobody has done a reaction to this song yet..You would be the first..I think you'd be quite impressed...
You need to hear alone around this time live simply incredible
That JPJ. Robert, and the dude with the smile was Jimi Page, and the drummer was Bonzo’s son! You should watch the whole tribute to them!

Letterman, Kimmel, Obama's, who woulnd't show up, DT of course, so much humanity from this song.
Adds to the beauty of life.
Phänomenal ❤
Robert Plant is still touring Summer 2024 with Alison Krauss.
that was Jimmy Paige the gutitar player . and yes that was the drummers son that passed away during the height of the band in fact they split up after his death. that was his son who was young when he passed playing as a tribute to his father
8:02 SHELDON COOPER on guitar
Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
Lol. The great Shane Fontayne.
John Paul Jones on the left, Robert Plant, center, Jimmy Paige, right. John Bonham OD’d which ultimately ended the band.
Rock Royalty singing for Rock Royalty. I favor this version over Zeppelins version.
Jimmy Page wrote the arrangements of this dong- then Robert Plant wrote the lyrics- the drummer , Jsson-is the son of John Bonham- Zepplin`s late drummer
If you wondered why they kept focusing on the drummer, that’s Jason Bingham the son of Led Zeppelin drummer
Bonham.
The drummer was Jason Bonham … son of Jon ..they introduced him at the beginning but your video didn’t show it.
That was jimmy paige
Jimmy Page
YOU JUST FOUND IT? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!? OK..SUGGESTION..QUEEN ..MONTREAL 1981..SOMEBODY TO LOVE.
You don’t know the guitar master himself? Jimmy Page.
I'm confused Anton.

Is there any way to get rid of the ridiculous Trump commercial. I am so sick of the criminal spouting lies. It is so damaging to our county.
Overrated! I mean its ok but nothing like when Led does it
