Hi my friend, your video has helped me change my power steering pump out. Thank you for this video, it gave me confidence to tackle such a job since there are no resources regarding the matter. I bought a used one from junkyard for $50. The pump I had was extremely irritating and noisy. The new one is still noisy but not as bad ass my old one. Thanks again and keep up the great videos.
Loved the clips. “SOB” 😂 thanks for the price references. I’ll find a crashed Altima to steal from sooner than buying a new pump. When that time comes.
Hi, After you install the power steering pump, did you just add Power steering fluid into the reservoir and then turn the wheel side to side to bleed out any air? Do you use any special equipment to remove air in the lines?
3:51 What wasn't mentioned is the return line has a crack in it and should have been replaced as well. 11:50 core charges are typically refunded when you bring back the old part.
I have a 2016 model and it just started to squeak but only when I turn the wheels idk if I have to flush the power steering fluid cause rn I’m at 42,000 or I need to replace it any help ?
The Driveway Grease Monkey theres go guide on youtube on how to flush the psf for the altima! You’ll be the first one! I need to change it for my car too
Hi E J. The leak can come from a couple of places. I would check the lines as well. Some leaks I have are so bad that I can't tell where it is coming from. I usually take some brake cleaner and clean the entire area where the leak is and then check and see if you can locate where it's coming from. They also sell a leak detector dye that you can add to the fluid and it can be detected with a UV light that usually will come with the kit.
My sister inlaws has one she put a little bit of the old kind of power steering fluid in it 2 or 3 months ago and now she said she hears a whining noise from the Electric power steering pump and her son said the fluid looked gritty. Do you think that it's going bad now? Thanks for the video 👍up from me.. .
Hi Matthew. In my opinion just adding the fluid wouldn't cause it. I would be thinking maybe there was some damage done when the fluid was low before you added. However, it's been a while since I did this job and don't recall if it used a special fluid or synthetic. I can however see the pump maybe becoming noisy if the pump is having a hard time pumping thicker fluid through there. The fact that you said it was gritty tells me either there is wear in the system from something or dirt was introduced into the system from somewhere at some point.
I was told these Nissans have to use a very specific electric power steering fluid from the dealer it's approximately $25 per qt. I would recommend flushing the old fluid out or drain and filling it, you can't just use Asian fluid
We just replaced it from a used parts distributor, the whining noise is much lower but still there, I guess the new pump is bad too, drove the car for few miles and no change. dang!!
Got a pump out here yesterday for $32 at the junkyard and someone had already removed it, was just sitting on top of the engine.... what a country😹😹😹 any idea how luch pw fluid it takes? Capacity wise? Thanks
Hi Eric. After installing the pump you will need to let the fluid circulate through the system by turning the steering wheel from side to side to get all of the air out of the system. If you have done this already then my next step would be to check to make sure the pump is getting power. Check all of your fuses.
@@ericarcidiacono9936 I would check the fuses at the main box under the hood. You can also check your owners manual for fuse location and possibly the identification of which fuse
