Lots of money to do the same thing to Benz and the $1.96 shaped "o" ring on the water pump to the block. 1200 bucks in labor, 8.5 hrs.
Thanks for the video.. have a friend with a 2013 Altima leaks.. Very good job! Theoretically!!! I have been wrenching for 60 years... good point on the silicon. Been doing that for years.
Nissan Part $3100.00 @ Dealership
Actually got the same problem w my 2011 Nissan Quest. My mechanic friend says its a common problem w Nissans since they use an electronic pump. He said just get the stop leak power steering fluid & it should stop it. I bought Fram Stop Leak+ Power Steering fluid & the leak improved. Now I notice about 1 drop of fluid on the cardboard I placed under the car every few days. I'm fine w that.
i will be doing same thing. later today thanks to your Vídeo 🙏
Great job boss
Can you show how you removed the unit. I am trying to do it at home and will really appreciate it. I cant seem to find out how to disconnect metal (pressure hose) that goes inside the unit on top. Do I use wrench to open it up?
Do you need to purge air from de system when you reconnect the hoses and add new fluid?
Thanks,
Just noted a leak on my daughters 2013/14 Nissan Altima-
Was searching for the location of the power steering pump,
Her serpentine belt had just broken,
So I thought the pump was belt driven,
But I noted the drip from bottom of reservoir,
So I’m hopeful it’s just an O-Ring issue like this.
Nice fix
I have the same issue but i just found a repair kit online at best parts web,for the pump for an altima 2013 for 37.99 dls
Let me give you an update,i received de repair kit and i just replaced the o ring for the plastic housing and it quit leaking oil,i didn't have to replace the rest thank God, so im happy for that cause i have a busy life
We had the same problem with our 2016 Nissan Maxima, we used the Prestone Max Power Steering with Stop Leak seems to work and stop the leaks, it's been 3 months now and the fluid level is still good. Very informative and good video btw, if mine is still leaking afterwards then will look at replacing the seal but the problem is where to find that same o-ring.
LV mercon or toyota WS / Castrol universal CVT fluid might work in a pinch. Smells like transmission fluid in that EPS
You are going to take a chance with a pump that is over 2K new? Craziness!
Is this pump similar to 8th gen nissan maxima? I have same problem. And the parts is too expensive 😢
Yes should be very similar
May i know which car model have same o ring? 😊
In not sure. What i did was remove the oring and took it to a hydraulic supply store to match it up
I not know what size but I go Amazon I types my car model and I get o ring
Do you have a part number that you can share to find that o- ring
No. Picked it up at a local hydraulic supply store
weather is AutoZone or a supply store they all have a part number name or manufacture or reference number
oh by the way oh by the way there are 2 of them good luck it work fro me
What size is the o ring???
Nissan states to only use their fluid for everything, transmission, coolant, psf.
The dealer price is almost $8,000 SMH
Foolishness
go to a hyadlic shop and buy one thats what i did
Two things missing: 1) Details on removal / reinstall, and 2) SPECS OF THE ORING!!! Otherwise, decent job.
The idea of using just any old oil is high risk. There are plenty of replacements for factory oil, but just anything? Using a ring with the wrong compound can cause problems as well. It can swell. It can shrink. It can deteriorate and plug up the system. I also have been wrenching for over 50 years. Don't do a half A__ job. Get the right materials ( ie, Viton, not Nitrile ), unless you want to do it all again later.
