Klaus has one of the best most recognizable voices in rock history
It always annoys me that he rarely gets the recognition he deserves when people talk about best vocalists in rock.
His voice is so unique
@Christopher Bingham Surprisingly there are a lot more German bands that sing in English that you think. Granted none are as big as the Scorps, but bands like Helloween, Gammaray, Pink Cream 69, Jaded Heart and Bonfire all spring to mind.
I would agree that his voice is unique. Geoff Tate from Queensryche is pretty unique and awesome as well.

This has always been my favorite Scorpions song. The melody just always got me. And Klause's voice, of course, is just amazing. Got to see Scorpions live a few years back. He still had those killer vocals.

LIvin' in Vegas as I do, I was layin' out at the pool one day, jammin' to some Scorp's. A neighbor asked who this was. I proudly replied, "Scorpions"! A little girl nearby jumped outta her skin, shrieking, "WHERE?!" I lost it! Had to calm her down and exclaim, "this song is by a band called the Scorpions". I'll never forget that little girl's reaction. Cracks me up to this day!

Another great power-ballad of theirs is "Send Me An Angel" - the harmonies are awesome and same great guitar work!!!

What makes this ballad legendary is the genius musical arrangement & lyrics that contradict each other. What do I mean? The chorus is a typical 4 chord arrangement in minor key; one characteristic of cookie-cutter 'the-end-style' songs (heartbreak/loss/death). It's full of anguish but? The lyrics go against the grains to scream "I'm still loving you!" As if to suggest his love for her were undying & eternal. As if nothing, not even anguish & pain... perhaps even death itself... can extinguish such love.
That, to me is a bloody powerful combo! Pure genius. It really pulls the listener's heartstrings while Klaus Meine's melodic voice accompanied by that gritty guitar distortion adds raw power. This kind of power in music, kids born today will never get to fathom later, as adults. The 80's Classic Rock band era, Scorpions included know NO equal in terms of the delivery of power within a love song. No ukuleles. No autotune. Just raw, PURE...

Sad that the reactions are all for the short version of the song. The full version is like 6 and half minutes and that slow build-up through it just can't be done justice in the short version. Plus they cut some of my favorite parts of the song.
My mind is now blown since I've listened to that song since it first came out but until your comment I never knew it had a longer version! OMG, ty so much! I was a die hard hard rock and metal fan so, although I listened to far more Slayer than Scorpions I still loved Klaus' unstoppable vocal range. I'ma check out the longer version ASAP! Ty again.

I was just on a kick with this song. So good. IMO underrated band and vocalist. Grew up on these dudes among the many others of that era.

@@IvoryElvenson well yeah, I wouldn't say grossly underrated, just not as big as they should've been and I never hear Klaus brought up when discussing great vocalists with people. Just think they should be more widely known, especially to more current generations.

So I was in high school in the 80's when I first heard the Scorpions (so I'm probably like your mom's age or older.) They quickly became my favorite rock band. Every album sounds different, the talent is off the chain, and for people who play guitar they know the Schenker bros rock like few others. When you see them paired up with Berlin Orchestra doing this song....it'll get you in your feels. This is a timeless 'rock ballad', they don't make em like this anymore. Came here after getting nostalgic about this song and I loved your reaction. Similar to mine back in the day.

Loving you Sunday morning on my record player is just magic. I first saw them in 84 then 4 more times in the 80’s and once in the 90’s. Still my favorite band from the 80’s. Klaus’s story is a great one. Especially what he went through before this album.

I grew up with the Scorpions while I lived in West Germany back in the 80's & 90's. I saw them a few times in concert including at the Monsters of Rock in Germany. They are my favorite rock band and I've been listening to alot lately and remembering the good old days.
One of the greatest 3 guitar bands ever! "Winds of Change" is about the fall of the Berlin wall in there homeland of Germany, and the reunions of families separated during the cold war. One of the most moving and positive songs from the 80's. Work of art, and worthy of your attention. You will never forget that message.
Not to be that guy, but it's about the fall of the soviet union mainly. It's right there in the first lines of the lyrics:
"I follow the Moskva" (river in west Russia / Moscow) "down to Gorky park" (park in Moscow) "listening to the wind of change".
