Best comment I ever read about this cover was something along the lines of:

David Draiman’s voice is insane. And yes, he was classically opera trained.

He's a classically trained vocalist.. By the way, Paul Simon said after hearing this cover, "He sings it the way I wish I had".

this is almost a religious experience, I cried when I first heard it. I personally think it is the most perfect thing I have ever heard, EVER

The reason this song is important is that many think metal is just screaming and banging on a guitar. This song showcases that these guys are truly talented and are a treasure.

He did not change a single word or syllable in the song, but he managed to make it so much more powerful. Kudos to Draimen for that. His version of this song is amazing.

There's a great vid of David Draiman talking about making this cover and how apprehensive he was about taking on what is arguably one of the most iconic folk songs in history. What he has done is make it his own, from the completely different emotion, to the changes in timing, he reinvented this piece to speak to the souls of all who are privileged to have heard it. From old guys like me that grew up with this song, to a whole new audience just digging it now, David has set the bar to a whole new level. Music will never be the same thanks to this. The only word I had after sitting in stunned silence after my first listening was.... Powerful.

“And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made” this line always grabs me as I feel it’s prophetic to the next lines... it’s also another warning to us all.

I've watched a few different reaction videos regarding the song and one thing everybody leaves out is the immense, beautiful, and soul gripping art of the video. Super powerful video.

The original is good but I absolutely love disturbeds cover SO much more!!! This is one of my favorite songs of all time!! David’s vocals blow me away in this song! The message is so important and I love how disturbed chose to depict it. This song always gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. I’m so glad you liked it so much!!!!

When the original artist (Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel) give you their direct blessing, you know you did the song justice

One of the few times I love the remake better than the original. This rendition gives me chills every time.

Disturbed's version of this song is so strong... so imminent and fraught with warning... so dire for action and yet so sad and what could be with failure to heed the warnings... S&G's original was almost like "reading" a history book and the emotion conveyed was "Oh well...". Yes. As a gen X guy, and a Marine of the 90's, THIS is the version I feel in my soul. THIS is the version it always should have been.

It's an opera in how it builds. It's a song you don't watch once. Ten times is still not enough. You were satisfaction in your reaction.

Being a person who was a teen when the first version of this song came out I thought no one could perform it the way the original artist did. I was blown away and so was the older version! This is music at it's highest level of performance. Disturbed changed this song forever and for the best ever!

Some things I have read that give this song all the more emphasis and power is that the Simon and Garfunkel version is kind of a warning things need to change. The Disturbed version is "angry" or expressing rage because we didn't head the warning. Both are so good in their own respects.

Funny thing. For as intense and angry as he looks, he's probably the nicest famous person I've ever met. Used to work at a concert venue, and he spent HOURS...just having random conversation with fans after his post-show signing. He was still there as the staff was leaving - and his managers actually had to pull him away. Genuinely amazing.

I’ve always loved the original with it’s soft prophetic message. It had a sadness to it. When I heard Disturb’s version, it began with sadness and built into great anger and rage that mankind did not listen and hatred reigns. Anyway, those are my thoughts many may not agree with my take on it. I absolutely ADORE this version. I can’t seem to get enough of it. I bought it from iTunes and I listen to it over and over again. His voice quality is amazing. It’s like he FEELS every single note.
