Trivia Fact: This version of the song she hates because it was recorded in 30 minutes at her dad's work studio and was supposed to only be a demo. Her label refused to let her re record a "better" version like she wanted to and shoved it on the album. She later recorded it the way she wanted it to sound for her remake album.

I totally understand your point that this song would just melt the room, and turn people into puddles.. However, I don't mean to sound like an ass, but why did your gf choose this song when it's obviously about a failed relationship, and not suicide? Just a weird choice for me. Anyways, I've had a few friends that died young, and I drew portraits for their families, since art is the thing I'm good at.

@@notquitemytempo1353 The thing is that they are too hard to be in like indie or pop festivals, but not heavier than other metal bands, they are a hard rock that has lots of things going on, like synths, some electronics, piano, it uses orchestra but is not a symphonic metal band, but it still has some heavy songs so they have like their own genre and it's kinda unique and some people don't understand it

This song was popular when my dad died in 2003. I was holding his hand when he died and then I'd hear it on the radio....and while I know it's about a different type of relationship, but it's so haunting and beautiful and about loss and it reminded me of my dad then . Hearing it today for the first time in years has made me cry again. I miss you dad.
Ben Moody (ex Evanescence member, he is the blond guy in the videoclip) wrote the song for his grandmother who passed away, so it's definitely for that too!

I think 2000s was an era of transition so we had some old school rock, alot of pop punk , alt rock ( as angsty teenager these genres were my life ) , then we had beyonce, justin timberlake and rihanna kinda coming in as well. We had the best of both worlds

I’ll be upfront, I’m not an Evanescence super fan but I will say this this is a song for the ages, beautifully constructed, haunting lyrics sung to absolute perfection and it’s also awesome to watch the live versions on UA-cam. It’s just a killer song played and sung to a point where it’s impossible to criticise and will forever be timeless.

This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing a loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones also, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting marriage, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.
This is one of those songs NO ONE can dislike, it’s like they recorded actual human emotion, incredible!

Monkey Brown You’re right, and in fact, My Immortal isn’t even her song, it was written by Ben Moody, and Amy herself is not a huge fan of it. She disliked it so much for a while that she would even leave it out of concert setlists around 2006-2007... she eventually embraced it again in 2011 only because fan demand was so massive, and finally in 2017 (for Synthesis) she created a new version that’s more orchestral and she’s more satisfied with that one.

matthew argent Right??? Man, that version of The End of the Dream is absolutely gorgeous, sends chills through my whole body. 😍 Unfortunately Synthesis was released on the same day as a certain album called Reputation by this one chick Taylor Swift, so poor beautiful Synthesis hardly got noticed.
