This aired on February 4, 1992 for those of you like me that were curious.
Cezary Akakios your joking the presenter hasent aged AT ALL
I taped it when iy was on BBC2 . Wish i still had the tape.
thanks
Thanks
Thanks, Cesary!
I watched this live. I went into school the next day and preached to everyone that Alive would be number 1 next week. And it was. 30 years later, I'm still alive. Still preaching the Jam.
Timeless classic tune.
61 lady here ...still alive and still rocking....Eddie.....what a voice xxx
Not near as cool but did the same thing with limp bizkit and nookie. Legends
which year was this please?
@@k-k8768 I believe it was released in 1992 in the UK but it might have been 1991 when this was recorded.
Whoever mixed this deserves a medal. Stone’s Les Paul in one ear and Mike’s strat in the other. Perfect.
The engineers at the BBC . Best in the business.
And you can actually hear the bass it’s insane.
@@spmoran4703 people moan about the licence fee here in Britain but some things they get right.
YES for real!
Yea imagine being able to pan one guitar left, and the other one right, and keep the bass centred. Fucking groundbreaking.
I love dave drumming so much😊
Backwards cap eddie is one of the best things in this world
Agreed
Best comment ever
truly is
Idk takes the Seattle out of him imo :P
of course
Eddies neck just shows you how much he is putting into this show!

How do you know
The singer's name ???
Anybody who loves Pearl Jam knows Eddie Vedder. Cmon!

The Backstreet Boys
And Spice Girls and I
I was only 9 , 10 or 11
Years old !!!!
Dave Abbruzzese is such a fantastic drummer. So much style and elegance
+Omair Sheikh The Best!!!
Ivan Muža It sucks that he left, but they found a really good replacement still
+Omair Sheikh mmm... I miss Dave. A
You can say that again bro.
They went to shit when they sacked him.
Eddie's Voice and his appearance and his way of moving when he sings is crazy sexy
He sings with the intensity and stature of Joe Cocker without even knowing it. A true full on front man.
Stay Alive Eddie, for you are truly a gift to us.
Eddie Vedders voice is unmistakable 🔥
McCready solo is insanely good
Eddie Vedder puts more in a performance than most anyone I have ever seen . He is totally immersed in this song

He’s so high on drugs
Yessss!The whole band are!
Tool sober.....🤨 when I watched Eddie sing alive i felt the same way. I love music it's what makes me sober and alive 😁

This group and their music will never get old. Timeless. Incredible talent.
The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself. ~ Eddie Vedder.
Dave Abbruzzese. Miss you brother. You were the man. Best pearl jam drummer ever. Power, cymbal work. Soul. You got ripped brother. But we still have these gems you gave us. Gone but not forgotten.you made pearl jam ALIVE!!!👍👏👏👏👏👏❤
Im Alive !!!!
What a privilege to grow up in the 90s. Watching MTV was class.
Hell yea
Thirty years have gone by and this song still rocks like nothing else… long live Pearl Jam
I fell in love with young Eddie a year ago when i 1st saw this video
Im 64😂
Wow, Eddie doesn't perform with that intensity anymore. He's possessed by the music. Love it.
Anne Fitzgerald It’s called Father Time Anne, you can’t beat him but Eddie still rocks out pretty good.Even Hetfield from Metallica is kinda tame now!He doesn’t even swear at their shows anymore.
he's like 50+, cut him some slack ^^ he still goes wild during their concerts now and then
Every young lead singer in a rock band is full of rage and anger in the mean time they can sing very soulful, mick jagger, Roger daltrey, bono, Michael stipe, billy corgan, Robert plant, Freddie Mercury, those singers are an example of youth as time goes by they mature and settle down
its called getting older,,,body doesn't perform they way it did when your really young
Eddie hasn't sounded the same since the first album for whatever reason
It's a great song that overwhelms you with the intensity of a flood.
Damn Eddie was a good looking dude
IS*
a good reason, but not solely, to help the band be that successful. and it feels like eddie used to love being surrounded by cameras, prior VS
What happened to him in his later years lol
In my eyes he still got IT💓
Still is, my friend 💜
I love how Eddie smashes the cymbal with the mic stand.
Listening to this on headphones whilst working and completely forgot it was a live performance. So good.
Disagree
@@dustygatrell-ru7tg about the headphones? Or that I forgot it was a live performance? Or that I think it's good? You can't technically disagree with something that's my subjective experience methinks....and it would be weird if you knew whether I was wearing headphones or not.....😆
@@Jo-nv8yb lol 😆

Sometimes a song is enough to tell all the storms and emotions that have been unleashed in the hearts of a generation.
That is perfectly said
I love how they all slowly go wild in the performance.
0:08 one my favorite ever guitar tones
Man, it must have been so damn good to have been in this band back then.
Or just to have heard it when it came out, could you imagine listening to this in the 90's I didn't even know stuff like this existed back in those days but I was a young kid I had never heard Ten until last year lol

Best live band of all time. Long live Pearl Jam.
Yeah, I have to admit that's excellent. I've only recently started listening to them after I stumbled onto Eddie Vedder's cover of Masters of War by accident, on a video recorded for Dylan's 30th anniversary.
Then I listened to Ten and Vs, just to check them out - I wasn't disappointed.
Best live band of all time? That's difficult to say. Queen could have given them a good run for their money in their day. Different eras though, so it's all hypothetical.
Yeah they're pretty awesome, but what about black flag. They are absolutely amazing!
Deadline Music revisiting this comment now that I know better, it's obvious that musicians like Bob Dylan and Neil Young only work with the best. Knobheads don't get to gig with them.

Nothing compares to young Eddie in a backwards cap. Good Lord.. 😍😍😍
I bet if that hat still exists it's worth some money.
underpaidlocator you know it!
I love watching Stone here,too ❤️
Thats is as good a live performance as the world has ever known. The GOATS, The Survivors of Grunge......
Nobody is talking about how legendary McCready's tone is here
no but i was thinking it!
I want to comment about Dave cause I think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm a massive Pearl Jam fan and for me the sound that made them the legendary band that it is today is based on this man's approach to drumming. His pocket is perfectly laid back enough to give tracks the looseness that it needs to flow correctly. If you are a musician you know that there are lots of ways to land or fit inside a certain tempo, and this guy manages to do that in a perfect way. You could be a technical prodigy and be able to play any groove or any time signature, but these little things are what separate a great musician from a gifted one.
Totally agree, he deserved more credit.
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo. El sonido característico de Pearl Jam en gran parte es gracias a Dave.
He was great with them. But the 1st album and the demos were the blueprint for the way the songs got played. And the drummer on the demos was... ...Matt Cameron!
amazing
@@scalzmoney However, the drummer on Ten was Dave Krusen...
Dave is one of the greatest drummers to ever play. So underrated. Their first two albums with him were incredible.
Dave Abbruzzese did not play on their first album “Ten”. It was another Dave: Dave Krusen.
The word underrated.... Geezus I've come to hate that word.
No one else can pull it off like he can ❤️❤️❤️💙
dudes voice at one point was=G.O.A.T.
No question in my mind
Freddie, Paul Mccartney, John Lennon. Theres the doubt in your mind
This is the best Alive performance EVER!
This is second only to the one at Pink Pop in 1992. Their energy is insane, especially during the last 90 seconds of that one.
Unplugged is the best Alive performance
I wish the audio was better on this upload.
Agree.

74angelwing I guess that's what British stiff upper lip is all about..!!
74angelwing I bet you pounds to donuts she creamed her jeans during the performance but couldn't show it. 😁
It was pre recorded earlier in the day..Hence her "stiff upper lip"

We are so in need of this type of music and performers nowadays... Please bring back the 90’s for crying out loud!!!

Eddie himself is a very beautiful thing outside and inside. Outside is what we can see and inside is what we feel and hear. He is what we all could aspire to be. Free spirit.
Probably one of the best albums of the nineties
Some guys will never be covered. This is one of them. Eddie’s energy is 2nd to none.
And he does it without drugs... Probably why he's still alive and healthy too.
check out natew101's 90s rock live stream on his channel, he's incredible
@@idk8964 yes!!
I'm forty one and I just watched this for the first time. I was thinking yesterday how Vedder could take a negative experience and make it sound so positive. This performance reveals some of the pain. And they are still performing just as visceral in 2017 being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame early this year.
Grunge may have been short lived but my did it pack a mighty punch. This vid is total proof.
1:50 It's always so cool to see his facial expressions. It really adds a whole other element to the story of the song. You can see the story in his face.
