Hard to believe Eddie is one of the last surviving grunge singers around today.. nearly all of them lost to suicide or addiction. Best wishes to him and the rest of the surviving scene
well he also never used drugs or smoked so i liked his decision
I was about to say wdym Chris Cornell and I’m like wait no😢
Nobody appreciate him now days. But one day when he die.. Everybody will miss him and talk about how good he was
I don't think he ever considered himself grunge. We don't choose our labels
Then again Kurt Cobain never saw himself as grunge yet people still called it grunge he is a grunge singer
I love the fact that Eddie sings with his whole body and soul.

Just raw powerful vocals

You mean just raw comedic vocals?
And raw powerful music, too.
It's almost like there's different styles of music
One of the best things in the 90's...
Even though there are a lot of good small concert and unplugged sessions on youTube... they don't reach that level of magic and power of the athmosphere in that room.
Only the best had the honor of performing there in that programm.
The way he sings feels so real. He really does tell us what happened.
Sim, dá p sentir! The best Singer!
yeah except they almost got sued by Jeremy's parents cause it was told wrong.
@@codycottingham130 yeah i know about that story. Kinda sad its not accurate. Still great instrumentation.
Cody Cottingham except it’s not Jeremy’s story and the song was just inspired by it. But nice try.
Robert Ryanson I didn’t say it was jeremys story. “But nice try” I just said the parents almost filed a lawsuit. Which pearl jam got out of it by stating it was inspired by a true story. “But nice try though” the original lawsuit would have been for misinformation. Stating that he depicted jeremys parents as not carrying about him.

The 90s was such a magical time for music. These bands, just like any other, get lumped into this categorical label of “grunge” and it just discounts how fucking great they truly were. It’s sad how few of the singers of this era of bands are still alive today. Experiencing this music as a youngster is something I’ll be forever grateful for.

At home drawin' pictures of mountain tops
With him on top, lemon yellow sun
Arms raised in a "V"
And the dead lay in pools of maroon below

Seemed a harmless little fuck
Ooh, but we unleashed a lion
Gnashed his teeth and bit the recess lady's breast
How could I forget? And he hit me with a surprise left
My jaw left hurting, ooh, dropped wide open
Just like the day, oh, like the day I heard

Daddy didn't give affection, no
And the boy was something that mommy wouldn't wear
King Jeremy the wicked
Oh, ruled his world

Here's the back story.
On January 8, 1991, Jeremy Delle, a 15-year-old sophomore, died by suicide with a Smith & Wesson model 19-4 .357 magnum revolver in front of his second-period English class. Delle was described by peers as "real quiet" and known for "acting sad". Delle was tardy that morning, and after going to his second-period class he was told to get an admittance slip from the school office for arriving late. Delle left the classroom, but instead of going to the school office he went to his locker where he had the revolver concealed, and returned to the classroom with it in his possession. Delle walked to the front of the classroom, and announced "Miss, I got what I really went for", he then put the barrel of the firearm in his mouth, and pulled the trigger before his teacher or classmates could react. Lisa Moore, a schoolmate, knew Jeremy from the in-school suspension program: "He and I would pass notes back and forth and he would talk about life and stuff", she said. "He signed all of his notes, "Write back." But on Monday January. 7th he wrote, "Later days." I didn't know what to make of it. But I never thought this would happen." The incident inspired the Pearl jam song "Jeremy". The band's lead singer, Eddie Vedder, read a newspaper account of the incident and was moved to write the song almost immediately
why the fuck 15 y old got gun?
It was at Richardson High School in Richardson, TX. Delle's parents wouldn't talk to the media about the song. A couple of years ago on local tv news, his Mom talked for the first time on tv. Here is the link if anyone was to watch it ua-cam.com/video/Y8VeNMGmEMU/v-deo.html

Sometimes I wonder if Eddie is consciously aware of what he's doing, or if something else takes over and possesses him. There's almost no other way to explain how his lyrics, melodies and voice so deeply affect so many people. The craziest thing is that he basically came out fully formed. He had this sort of strange charisma from day 1.
Definitely a very passionate guy for sure. I think he just feels his lyrics and his music comes from a lot of pain and raw emotion. Like he just lets it out through his music and is screaming his pain and sadness through the microphone. Whether happy, sad, or anger…he just lets it out through music and it converts to his powerful singing.
And the music definitely speaks to him because the way he just jams to it all while he’s singing
I feel like that about other artists too, like they are channeling something bigger than themselves

He makes the best faces when he sings!! I can watch him sing all day
Eddie Vedder is one of those rare singers that sounds as good live , if not better compared to the studio record. His use of distortion and tone just sounds amazing.
That lil smirk as he holds back the swear is god damn precious
Damn, he can really sing. It's hard to find a person that sounds just like the studio version live
The quality of musicianship in this performance is so unbelievably amazing.
Eddie’s voice is just so beautiful. I can’t stop listening!
Vedder's voice is so identifiable, so unique! So charismatic artist!
I get goosebumps every time I watch this. Phenomenal performance, brilliant musicians and as for Eddie’s voice......

God, Eddie was so beautiful back then. He’s still handsome now but these older videos really show he beautiful he was, especially when he was singing with such emotion.
