Another thing to factor in is when you buy a truck pre lifted with bumpers etc they keep all the old parts which if you did it yourself the original parts could be sold to recoup some of the money definitely not worth it
exactly
If you ask for the parts that they took off the vehicle they, have to give them to you. You are paying for all those parts as part of the Monroney sticker that comes from the factory. They never tell you that and they will try to dispute it as well. The more you know!!!
Exactly.
But..the dealer does not outfit these particular ones in the video. SCA which I think is Southern Comfort, does. So no way are u getting any stock parts back.
SCA probably adds labor and shipping from GM to their facility plus ship from them to dealers.
I'm sure they justify keeping and selling the take-off parts as a price offset. But still too damn much
My dealer has no problem giving back the factory parts. Most people only want the stock wheels back for snow tires and what not, everything else is an inconvenience
Ive worked at a Toyota dealer for 7 years now and if they sell a new truck with aftermarket parts already on it then you most likely wont get the stock parts back but if you buy a car/truck and if you get lift or lower the suspension or any aftermarket part the customer will always get the old parts back unless thier trashed or the customer doesnt want them back.
No one's going to come out to try and sell you a truck when you drive up with a better truck than the ones on their lot.
Mort Homer totally agree
The smart ones don't, anyway. Usually, if someone is driving up in a 1-3 year-old truck with tons of crap on it, they are upside-down in the loan, and they think that that the dealer will give them more money for the aftermarket stuff. That's a waste of a salesman's time...though some green pea might try it.
@@richardgreene6810 Even a green pea is smarter than that
Get the same attitude if you show up in your commuter car. Salesman have no power anymore any way. You make offer then they go back to manager and back and forth. It’s like cmon are you selling or is the manager? That’s who I want to deal with.
You dumb af
Cuz they saw what u rolled up in I wouldn't come out and talk to u either 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely do not buy modified vehicles from dealerships. I have worked for 3 of them and they buy the cheapest gear and mark it up 65% usually. They say they will warranty it but if you do just one tiny mod that has nothing to do with it they will not cover it
I sell new Chevy trucks for a living. Ryno is 100% right. Don’t waste your money on these dealership build-a-trucks. Waaay too much markup. 1/2 the dealers won’t even warranty the aftermarket parts if they fail. You have to fight the manufacturer direct.
truckguyjoe I like the fact that I can sell the stock parts and recoup some of the cost unlike these
@@JWMontoya very true.
I got the parts list from a dealership that did up a truck. 360 bucks for spedometer recalibration!!!! Also it had a matching spare wheel for the custom wheel/tires and it had a spacer for it for some reason.
You're too generous. It's way more than 1/2 that won't warranty the aftermarket parts.
Plus you can personalize it the way you want it be.
$90,000 for a mid-size truck?!!!! Not everyone is a drug lord!!
bro if you a drug lord you aint buyin shit without a job to prove income, go spend 90k cash at a dealership with no employment and youll have the IRS there the next day. you sound jealous

They are called addendums. Which are "dealer installed accesories". These accessories are used to markup the price. This is a good word to use when negotiating. Dealers hear you say this word and right away think your an experienced buyer. Whenever you purchase a vehicle you should always figure out the selling price of the vehicle alone. The selling price of the vehicle is before tax, tags, license(TT&L) and addendums. The selling price should not include rebates and incentives. You should figure out the rebates and incentives you will qualify for after you have figured out the selling price. The selling price should always include the destination fee which usually runs anywhere between $895 - $1200. You can find this price on the invoice. The Invoice is the dealer cost. You should not recieve a selling based off of the MSRP. You should receive the selling price based off the invoice (dealer price). Normally owners, internet sales managers, and general managers have access to the invoice. This is why you should not deal with salesman and should speak directly with a sales manager.(STAY AWAY FROM BDC's (business development coordinators)). Better yet, you should not even walk into the dealer unless you have figured out the selling price of the vehicle through a internet sales manager. If your a smart buyer these GM vehicle are easily sold under invoice minus rebates. Unless it's a high demand low supply vehicle. You might think how the hell would dealers make money if they sell the vehicle below the price of what they bought it for. Well dealers recieve a bonus once they sell a certain amount of vehicles by the end of the month. This is why it is smart to buy a vehicle by the end of the month. Dealers will make more money servicing your vehicle in the future. Hope this helps.
Lorenzo Mendez I wish you could come with me when I trade in my 14 Silverado 😂
Thank you for the great advice i will go to the internet and purchase my vehicle.
Trick #3: Always keep your transactions separate - 1. The trade in value of your car/truck, get it in writing before any negotiations, 2. The price of the new car/truck (bottom line) 3. Financing should be last, and don't EVER accept additional years to lower your monthly payment.
This is fucking GOLD! thanks for the cheat sheet
If you hung that mirror the other way it would of been good for both tall and short people.
Richard O'connor but would have looked stupid on that narrow wall behind a door if you put a mirror behind a door it needs to be floor length or wide like this
Thank you man! I had questions about this topic! Thank you
They better be throwing a supercharger on them as well with that kind of price
this is going to hurt some feelers but this is the kind of thing poor people do, and why they stay "poor" (not really poor but it's a road block to building up savings and wealth). instead of waiting for a time in their life when they can pay cash for a truck (i know thats crazy right?!?!) and then taking $15K to an after market shop to do the same mods, they buy these trucks. they buy these trucks because they can finance the whole package, where it's a lot harder to finance this stuff after the fact. better have a huge limit on that CC. they keep the truck for a few years and then roll all the negative equity in to the next stupid vehicle purchase they can't really afford. they're 65 years old still paying off their home and financing vehicles.
nocoolname32 people with money don’t even pay cash depending on Myriad of factors financing can be a better option.
@@deaf2819 of course it can be, who would turn down zero percent financing so their money can be invested elsewhere, but the fact remains they have the cash to pay for the vehicle. they don't finance a car because they HAVE to. my brother in law financed $10K of his yukon xl because of dealer incentives to do so, paid rest in cash.
Couldn’t Agree More , but not everyone have the same mentality . Most people buy thing they can’t afford to please people they don’t like , and just like you said it keeps them in that endless cycle for life . Never accomplish much more then having a brand new cars . Good to know there is people out there with the right mentality man 😀
nocoolname32 yup, your exactly right... they know that the target consumer for these are people who can’t afford to do them themselves.
1/3/19, 21st century pimpmobile is what it is. The more lift kits/custom hardware the less work is likely done w/these rigs. I'm in rural S. Jersey, farm/ranch land, I see what these people use: trucks equipped to suit what they do, no more/less. They don't spend $75k++ on tricked-out pickups.
This video was really helpful. I have never bought a new truck (I like my 1980’s chevys) but recently tested the water at a local Chevy dealership. I’m glad that you made this because I had no idea to look for this information when purchasing.
Living in Houston having a lifted truck is the smart thing to do🤘🏽I slowly built my truck for a 3-4 year period 💯
When I was a car salesman a guy would drive up on our lot. I'd take 4 brand new stock trucks varied in options and load them on the guys truck. The trucks were gone for 2 to 3 weeks. When they come back I'd drive the trucks to the lot and park them for sale. New lift wheels and tires. Each truck would have the build sheet in in a manilla envelop. I'd take the key and envelop and turn them in. Then place the 4x10 piece of paper that list the extra fees aka addendum on the window. Well one day I opened the envelop which I'm probably not suppose to do and looked at it. The wheels tire and 6in lift retail was 3k the dealer only paid 1,500 for that package. We would then price it 10k above msrp. Now the package prices varied depending on the wheels it cane with. So prices dealer paid ranged from 1,250 to 1,750, but on average 1,500. Ford will allow a consumer to lift there truck 6 inches with no bigger then 35 12x50 wide tire on a truck without it voiding the powertrain warranty. Lift it more then 6inch and have taller wider tires then stated, if something goes wrong with the truck then it's not covered. Just so ppl know it's cheaper to buy the lift wheels and tires and install yourself then to buy it from the dealer. But u will still pay more money for the parts doing it yourself then what the dealer buys the parts for. Someone will always make money. But u buy the parts yourself and do the work, the place u bought the parts makes money. If u buy it from the dealer already installed the dealer and the place the provided the parts make money and you get ripped off. So don't buy a new lifted truck unless u can pay cash for it. Oh and the parts that came off the truck were in the beds of each truck. I would have to unload it and put the parts in the back in our parts department inventory. Yes msrp includes those parts that were taken off as the price and when we lifted it we never took that charge off. But u also didn't receive your stock parts back but paid for them. So technically ppl should ask for there parts. Most ppl don't want them or have a place for them so we never asked.
Your saying a dealership paid $1,500 for a lift, wheels, and tires total (parts and installation)? There's no way the upfitter was making money on that lol.
@@bkc3546 everyone down the line from raw steel to finished product will make money. It's when u cut out as many middle men as possible to save money.

Another Great Video as always man. Love your videos.
Worked as a dealer tech many years ago .They installed lifts and wheels in the shop .They used to double their money on this .People usually financed all of it .Usually somebody that probably couldn’t afford it .
That's rare now. Most dealers have an outside, aftermarket accessory company install the products on their inventory.

That Black Widow package honestly looks like a 10 year old designed it... The Redline package looks a lot sharper. Lol I think the Chevy meeting went like this:
Exec: "Spiders are cool..."
Designer: "Yeah Black Widows are the coolest."
Exec: "Marvel has a character named black widow, right? Young people love all the Marvel crap"
Designer: "What's your idea??"
Exec: ".... I dunno, just add a bunch of spider logos everywhere and put a cheap lift kit on it and charge 25k for it"
I thought it looked kinda cool....
Designer - "Hey bro, I just watched this American Chopper where they did a black widow theme. Very modern and cool".
Me - "Didn't they do that in 2003? lol"
Anyone who doesn’t know SCA is Southern Comfort revamped is probably not much of a car guy. You sound silly thinking that it is new and only on Chevy. You can buy a Ford with that kit here. Today
Nahhh the exec was just like “spiders are cool” and the designer was like “say no more”
KSLAY1911 what do you not get? I’m talking to the guys bashing it. Southern Comfort was an old school truck customizing company that would do Chevy trucks on the lot to make them stand out and help them sell. They have revamped and they now build lift kits and all sorts of stuff.
Glad you made a video on this. Unfortunately there are too many people that don't know what they are getting into. Fortunate for me I grew up around vehicles and modifications and I know what to look for. I have a buddy that paid 30k over the retail price for a Jeep with garbage upgrades without consulting anyone. He realized after the fact that he was scammed. Great job Dmax. Love the vids.
Thank you man I appreciate this info I learned a lot from this ...

I will personally say the chevy dealer i work for we have prelifted brand new trucks but for way less. the one 2500 we have is only a 7k mark up for every thing and the 1500's are 6k and are covered for 3 years 36k nation wide. but that chevy dealer prices are stupid high
Very nice video, Ryan! I am not disappointed like usual! Now I've been wondering for a while if you could make a video that is detailing the process of how you became a contractor (education, apprenticeship, family business, etc) and if you have any tips for people who are interested in starting their own blue collar businesses. Thanks for always making the best content on youtube, everyone appreciates it!
awesome video, just what i needed to make an informed decision
I have known several people that could not come up with a extra thousand bucks if their life depended on it. They trade in their upside down loan and buy a new vehicle and have the dealer install thousands of dollars of options like tires and wheels, lift kits, engine bolt ons, etc. It's the only way they can get it and they pay dearly for it. One thing people seem to overlook is what happens to the brand new parts that come off the vehicle? For instance, even the factory wheels are usually alloys and worth a good chunk of change. Same goes for tires, shocks, etc. There is no shortage of people that will spend their money on these over priced manhood extensions so dealer is cashing in. Not the dealers fault.
The ad ons on that truck cost more than my lifted 2011 Jeep on 37s. I have way little money in it, yet still get compliments all the time and my jeepJK is not fancy at all. It is just a simple low lift, stock wheels and trimmed fenders. It is always dirty and pulls a 12 ft trailer. It has 120K miles and still feels pretty new save the normal wear and tear. I can drive it almost anywhere using some brains about it. You do not need a $70K+ vehicle to be a man or the man. My 2000cc Harley killer Jap cruiser bike cost me $5K and I get more compliments on it than the Jeep. Its not what you got, but how you use it.
That information alone was worth a sub 👍🏽thank you!
We will have to wait and see!!! looking forward to viewing!
So pretty much they're doubling the price on the extras. That's why the salesman hate me cuz I already know that they're making a shit ton of profit off his vehicle. I got a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge at the beginning of 2003 after taxes it was $22,000 almost $23,000 but that's not what I paid. I paid $15,300 after taxes. So that means I talked him down around $8,000. The dealership takes her portion and the rest of it goes to the salesman and on top of that crap they make commission. So nobody should feel bad about going to the dealership and raping them back. I wanted a black one at $15,300 and they kept trying to sell me a yellow one. I told him I wanted a brand new black one ASAP they said they couldn't do it that they had the other one that was available. I told him thank you that I was going to another Ford dealership on the other side of town and walk off their lot. I drove to the other side of town with takes about half an hour or so. I was at the other dealership for about 10 or 15 minutes and I got a phone call from the previous dealership saying that they would have my truck in in a day or two in the color I wanted for $15,300. If they want to make that sell they'll make it if they don't there's another salesman that does. I'm a die-hard Chevy fan but regardless don't let a dealership bend you over at least they need to take you out to dinner first LOL
SCA is the old school southern comfort edition. SCA is the new name for them.
You're first 1 minute and 20 second was very cool. I don't have a lifted diesel however I understand carpentry and it was cool to see the cross over.
Bro you shared simple knowledge and took the time out of your day to go out in person to these dealers and show us exactly what your talking, who does that...you are the fucking man 👍👍👍👍👍

You’re also paying for the the truck to still be covered under factory warranty
All very good points thanks for the information.
Great video! let’s hope this gets to someone before they make the mistake
My buddy puts lift kits on the new Dodge Rams for our local dealers. He charges the stealerships around $5200.00 for a 6" lift with tires/rims/shocks ect. Not top of the line either. Takes about six hours start to finish. Then a front end alignment. We stopped by and checked one out on the lot he had just finished up and they had almost tripled the install cost. Then we had to listen to a salesman give us a speech about the lift. Obviously we did not let him know that he was talking to the guy who just installed it but what a scam that was...
so youre saying your buddy is a crook charging top dollar for shitty parts?
I used to work for a small shop that installed plows on brand new trucks for dealers... same thing the mark up was insane. People could have just bought the truck and drove ten minutes down the road and had us put the plow on for a lot less
Cya are you a moron? No one said anything about him being a backyard mechanic now did they? I know I guy as well that does the same thing. Hes a reputable offroad shop. It works exactly as everyone says.

A little more on dealer lifted trucks. My information only pertains to my experience and what I did and saw. I worked for 4 wheel parts as a tech. DSI, Dealer Services International, is one company that sells dealerships lift and aftermarket packages to dealerships. DSI and 4WP are both owned by TAP, Transamerican Auto Parts. They also own procomp, smittybilt, rubicon express, 4wd, and g2 gear and axle. Each 4wp store has a dsi rep that goes to dealerships in the area (the furthest dealer we worked with was 8 hours away). The dealership will contract to upfit a certain amount of vehicles for that month at a certain price for a specific package. What tires, wheels, and lift kit that came with all depended on what the dealership was willing to spend. What is the dealer willing to spend? depends on the manufacturer rebates going on at the time. The dealers would only send us vehicles that had a current rebate. The amount on that rebate was the deciding factor of procomp vs trail master (trail master is a cheaper version of procomp, but literally identical). The dsi rep would finalize, and the vehicles would get shipped to us. We would lift them, new tires and wheels, and all vehicles we did for the dealerships were required by law to have the speedometer calibrated. Not many people know that but we had to do it. we also have to update the tire sticker inside the door for the new tire size. they get sent back to the dealer when done. now, that warranty is phenomenal. it is nation wide. plus, we had one come back the guy literally snapped a procomp cross member in half. this destroyed his front drive shaft, front diff, and a cv axle. ive never seen this happen and had to be from him jumping his truck. we replaced all of it under warranty. I hope this info helps. Btw, those speedometer calibrations are about $200 for the part and that white silverado in the video, the dealership probably paid 5500 to 6 grand for the package.
75k for a lifted gasser?!

Appreciate the video... nice info as well. Keep in mind they are a dealership. No one EVER pays MSRP... and even when they add discounts, rebates and incentives, most people still want more... so they build that in anywhere they can, and on an aftermarket lift kit, that's a good place to build that extra negotiating room in. From a dealer standpoint, that's my 2 cents...
Loving the videos man! I’m curious though what type of camera you use?
One thing ive learned from being a chevy owner all my life, way too overpriced. Got a 2019 Ram laramie longhorn 1500. best truck buy by far

I just purchased a 2019 HD High Country and went to the dealer and had a local company install a BDS coil over lift, wheels and tires, swapped out my electric running board, train horns and air bags that were on my 2015 HD. All for 11K. The dealer even wrote me a check for the factory tires and rims and running boards. Building relationships with dealers are a good thing they will help you when you need it. I can’t agree more on buying a truck already lifted. I would rather select my build and wait a few more days for the delivery.
Dspeed252 question for you, did you finance the truck? If so, were the accessories included in the financed price?
@@CavanalK5 Yes I financed the truck, but paid for the lift. They offered to finance in the costs of the lift at the same cost as I was quoted but I had the cash for the lift.
Dspeed252 thanks for the feedback. I financed my 2012 exactly on this date 7 years ago-2/15/12-I thought about lift and all that stuff. But decided to wait and add that later. Glad I did because my taste was gaudier back then. Over time, I added a level kit, some oversized BFGs, toolbox, and low-key lightbar. I didn’t do the 6 inch lift and 35s I would’ve done at delivery. Only did the RanchHand after a full front end rebuild after a trash truck backed over me in reverse on the highway. Pondering a new one for my wife and thinking about adding some accessories in. I like the way you did it. Holding them more to an honest price. Thanks for your time.

If you do buy a pre lifted truck you need a sticker that says “bought not built”
Most trucks on the road in general, deserve the bought not built title..
This comment is a little hard to follow. Being that this is about lift kits. Most people will not install the kit themselves. They will have a mechanic do the work. So buying a prelift truck won't change that aspect of the truck itself.

Lol
I’m glad to see you video ready sub
I’m still looking for new Chevy but still not decide yet lol what you thing about the Chevy Lt Trail boss?
Completely depends on the situation and deal. I specifically bought my truck lifted so they would cover the drivetrain with oversized tires. I got my '14 RAM 2500 Cummins for $58k with a 6" lift and 37" tires. Immediately sold the 22" rims and 37s and put 17" wheels and 37s. At 25k miles I blew the front ring and pinion and spun the races for the carrier bearings doing some stuff off-road. They replaced the whole front axle, gears, shafts, etc under warranty at the dealership. My Jeep from the same dealer wouldn't cover anything drivetrain related because I had oversized tires that I had installed the lift and tires myself. They claimed the tires caused undue stress voiding the warranty.
A 1600 dollar lift raises the value of the truck 8,000, lol
They’re gonna tell you it was 6400$ worth of labor 😂😂😂
That dealer sucks
Brother, you also have to consider people who dont wanna pay the extras separately and having a truck payment maybe with a 3% interest and a credit card payment for the extras at a 8% or higher interest rate. Just saying. Maybe i need to be educated more in doing these deals. Haha i wrote this before the video was done. You said it all at the end. Great video brother.

So.....I got the perfect solution: I needed a new car so I got a Ford Taurus, outfitted it w/a hitch, & got a trailer from Lowe's. Perfect 4cash/carry & taking yard junk 2compost site.
and we use the crap out of them, and lowering a truck is just gay suicide
Just cause you can’t keep up with the Jones’s doesn’t make you better than them
The rule of thumb is never buy a lifted truck, and never buy a ford
Now dont go that far, i love ford but gm can make a good truck
👀
Why not Ford??
But how else will you get a tow home in your chivvvvyy?lol
You sound like a little puss
And then you bring your lifted truck in for a trade and they low ball you because "it's been modified" lol
Awesome video man!
Use to manage an accessory shop years ago. We would install billet grills in the local dealers trucks for $120. They would then mark them up to $360 on the window sticker.
For sure, I've gone to dealers and seen nice lifted trucks cheap package that are not even 4x4 and it is more expensive than a fully loaded one that is 4x4. That is the reason I don't even look at them because they charge you double if you fall for it
Awesome video! I’ll add that there is a dealership that sells lifted trucks with a warranty, no granted the lifts are not high dollar lifts but they are a great dealership. Netdirect is the name of the place. I bought a truck from them and have zero complaints
its been two weeks now thinking of buying a lifted truck from a dealership and my mind can't make up itself. And here I am researching
I love the lifted shock mount at 3:44!!!
Bought a lifted truck off the lot. Was marked up more then it should be but save the headache of going to another shop and dropping it off and having lifted.
I first saw this trend start at jeep dealerships around the time they refreshed the JK platform in 2012. I thought it was crazy at the time, but then I started seeing the same thing happen at all the truck dealerships. I guess people will pay a lot of money to keep that warranty.
I have a RAM 2500 Cummins Tradesman. So far, I am nearly at $20,000 in add ons... still have a few parts left to do too. Did nearly all the labor myself (had the badges deleted, projector headlights painted, and a part machined by experts on the lift kit). All over 5 years... I have some pride in the result. AEV lift kit, Nitto 37” snow tires, 20” beadlook off road rims (look identical to beadlock but bolts don’t go into the tire), RoyaltyCore Grille (planning a custom center) with Vision X light in the Grille, Vision X light at on the bumper, Vision X fog lights, Warn 17,500lbs winch, tube steps, tube bed rails, rear bumper that compliments the AEV front bumper... and I did the scratches and Moab mud detailing myself with both pride and groans. The dealer would have charged an extra 40 grand... it just cost me time but it didn’t hurt so bad to buy it over 5 years.
I sell Chevy Buick gmc at a small little town in Arizona we do carry a wide variety of vehicles from basic to loaded . We don’t sell lifted trucks or heavily modified for that reason we try to keep thing simple But if a customer wants a lifted or leveled truck we would actually find a shop to do it and at their charge not dealer cost and in our away from my town there is a other chevy Diller they sell lifted trucks sometimes people will go out there and buy them yet they complain when they see their prices and they start saying though they have better deals when those are the people that like to get ripped off. Thank you for that video it a bunch of bs to buy a lifted truck from a dealership and warranty as they say will apply but it doesn’t there a secret they do to make you think
Another great video
Should make a video on how to make sure you’re not getting hosed on labor for all these parts!
I bought my delete kit online and financed with Affirm. $38 interest. My def tank heater went out why I jumped on buying it, but I would use them again to add goodies.
Thanks for this.
A lot of times dealer installed options are covered by the factory warranty or at minimum does not void factory warranty. This is one thing to consider.
Been telling people this for years not to buy a lifted truck from the dealership glad you made a video on it. It’s crazy what they charge, I went straight to the facility that does the lifts for the dealership in my local area and instead of paying $14,000 at the dealership the actual place that does the work charged me 5200 out the door wheels tires lift Lugnuts ETC…all procomp
And if I’m not mistaken to do it correctly you need to change the front drive shaft to a cv style to eliminate the vibration in the front end on the 1500s if using 4x4 and the dealers don’t buy that option.
Couldn’t agree more man!
Them are some nice trucks I can't lie...
