    Also think long and hard (heh) about the type of lift you want. Keep in mind that lifts of certain heights or certian styles of lifts will require other work to be done to the vehicle, or may damage the vehicle if not prepared for properly. some examples:
    -at least in my experience, lifting above 2.5" without any mechanism for correcting front axle CV angles or upper control arm (UCA) ball joint angles will increase wear and tear and could cause eventual parts failure; this is why 4" and higher lifts usually include differential drop brackets and new steering knuckles, and some 3" lifts will come with improved UCAs
    -4" and higher lifts with new crossmembers require you to CUT THE TRUCK'S FRAME, i.e. you are stuck with that lift kit unless you can weld your frame back together
    -you may need to get longer brake lines if you are not comfortable with using the brake line extension brackets (some adjusting of the hard metal lines may be required, which makes me nervous, personally)
    just a few extra things to think about

    I learned my lesson years ago. Ball joints wear out all the time. Front ends wear out much faster. After 10 years of driving a truck with 6 inch lift and 35s I was jumping for joy to get back into a factory stock truck!!! Factory drives so much better, lots more power, better gas mileage, no ball joint eating every year.

    I worked at a off-road truck shop , honestly I’m a fan of leveling kits they are easy to remove , install you can easily get one done for 500 with a alignment compared to spending 5k plus on a suspension lift with wheels tires . They maintain factory ride for the most part just my opinion. Lifts these days are all don’t for looks anyways , and never seen see a piece of dirt lol.

    Great video! A couple observations,1 st off if you are towing a 9 k lb bobcat every day ,an F150 is the wrong truck. The 5.0 is gutless down low,lifting one makes the poor low end more of an issue, if performance is important with a lifted truck get an ecoboost. and don’t look back. If fuel economy is important to you do not lift your truck. The do not go together at all.

      John DiMartino my 2016 5.0 is lifted with 8 inch up front and 6 inch in the rear on 35’s (10 ply) with factory upgraded 355 gears. It’s far from gutless, and yea the eco boost will out pull me, but dat 5.0 coyote with Borla attack series just sounds sooooo much better than that v6 lol, and I still get 12- 14 mpg loaded, 19-21 unloaded on a trip.

      LSandViper Killer if they aren’t I apologize,the one I drove before I bought my Ecoboost was relatively sluggish until the tach was over 3500.TheGM 5.3 and Ram Hemi I tested both had much wider power bands with more torque down low.Once wound up the 5.0 was great , if I was 25 again I have have went wit the 5.0 ,because it sounds great and revs like a Mustang....

    • @BC08
      @BC08 6 років тому +3

      John DiMartino Lol, are you being honest? Because the 5.3 doesn’t have more down low grunt than anything. The 5.3 is utterly gutless, and absolutely makes less low end than the 5.0, especially the 2018.
      The Hemi power band is actually very similar to the 5.0s.
      All of these new V8 engines are revvers than than don’t “come on cam” until 3500+, but the 5.3 having more low end? Not even close

    A lot of people don't realize that the more negative offset you have on your rims the harder it is on your front end components. Imagine having a ten pound weight on the end of a 4 foot 2x4. When holding the 2x4, the closer you are to the weight, the easier it is to lift. I would not advise having anymore negative offset than is needed to clear your lift components.

    Last week, I got RC6” lift kit and 20” wheel and Falken wildpeak at3w 35” tall tire on 2.7 ecoboost 19. And my fuel economy is just cut in half now. 5-6km per liter or 20L/100km, on the highway just a bit better than that. I think the reason is why it’s all that happen because 2.7 is not enough power to spin tires. I would’ve gone with 5.0L V8. What do you think guys?

  • @Spawny500
    @Spawny500 3 роки тому

    Forgot the fact that you will need new maintenance tools (i.e. carjack, lug-wrench, etc). Most likely Ford's original kit won't work after a lift kit and new wheels. Need to figure out where to put a new spare tire too. The original spare tire won't work. Not to mention you need to re-calibrate the headlights & speedometer. Prob a good idea to add "towing" to your insurance if you don't have any good tools in a bad situation.

    The best truck is a stock truck. I have never driven a lifted truck (no matter how good or expensive the lift and wheels are) that actually drives well or at least close to factory. When I was buying my Tundra CrewMax the sales guy was soo annoying with his attempt to add on sales. Kept trying to convince me to buy a lift and wheel package from them. I just told him that if I wanted a truck for heavy off-road I’d just buy a Raptor. As it is, I love my truck for my use. Drives like a caddy in stock form.

      @rich7447 3 роки тому

      I think offset is just designed to confuse people. Measuring by rim width and backspacing makes so much more sense. A 10 inch wide wheel with a 4.5" backspacing will protrude 5.5" past the wheel mounting surface. So much easier than mixing mm from center of wheel with wheel widths in inches.

    If you're putting 35s or above change the gears. Seriously, aside from cost, I don't know why more people don't talk about this. I'm running 37s with 4.88s and my 2014 5.0 and is right at factory whp and gets 15 mpg at 80 mph. I think the mud terrain tires aren't really all that bad. I've had my mud terrain tires for 4 years and 50k on them, and I finally need a replacement set. They're hankook dynapro mud terrain, and I didn't rotate them nearly as frequently as I should have. The noise is pretty loud though, but I did get good life out of them, would have gotten more if I would have treated them better. All in all not the nightmare everyone makes them out to be. Handle great in the snow, hardly ever used them for what they were intended for.

    Better to be geared too low any day of the week. In my opinion there is no such thing. Even stock I prefer 4:10 for the get up and go. Especially in reverse with a manual. It's getting harder to get proper gear ratios with all the EPA mileage demands in modern pickups though. My new Rubicon has 4:10 stock. My new F150 has 3:55. Not horrible!. The 10 speed transmissions though have vastly compensated for the tall gearing. You can always lock out 10th gear and have pretty good pep with 10 speed in sport mode. Drive an Eco Boost 2.7 with 10 speed in Sport mode. You will not believe it.

    The gear ratio tips are off not to bash the guy but you dont just say yes 3.73 gears because im towing your tire size is huge in this throwing 37s on 3.73 will destroy your ring and pinion . if youre thinking gears look up bleepingjeeps how to select gear ratio

    Trucks a great but I’d rather buy a truck like a king ranch or something more high end then lift it and do lift and tires my self I have 2 lifted trucks one being a obs F-150 actually a 1996 lifted 6inches with 20x12 tis wraped In toyo mt. It’s going to be my show truck/weekend driver only thing is it’s not so fast because it has a old reliable 300 i6 5 speed. My other is a 13 F-150 with a 3.5 6 inch lift with 20x10 fuels wrapped in general grabber at2 which I’m switching to toyo soon as I can I don’t care for the generals. Something else that will help the trucks slapping a programmer on Ive got a mbrp exhaust on mine and I’m about to get a programmer too it helps a lot from what I have heard little quicker boost for better take off esp when towing

      LAST COWBOY I have ko2s on my zr2 s10 and I love them! They are quiet enough, great In snow and great off-road only problem with them is the life on pavement due to them being such a soft compound oh and fuel economy when down a couple mpgs

      Bought a set of BFG'S terrible workmanship ! had them balanced 4 times , finally did a force balance at Discount tire found out they would balance out but had a serious wobble to them BF did cover the warranty but had a choice for the same TKO2 or a Michelin Defender 35's they just came out with . Regular highway tread runs smooth , better gas mileage also but looks kinda weird having such a big tire with a normal tread .

    Looking to lower my 2017 F350 fx4 Lariat diesel. I tow a 2017 5th wheel camper and don't want to lift it to level it. The camper sits 3 inches higher measured from forward most frame to ground compared to farthest rear frame to ground.
    Hitched up, there is about 5 1/2 inches
    bed rail to camper clerance. About a 2
    inch drop for truck would be great. All suggestions are welcome.

It never happened when I had a lifted truck in 2005 but things are different now and it seems like people assume im a prick or they are dicks just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

    Great video! Question: Do you need to get everything torqued again after a level kit install like you mentioned needing to be done after 5K miles on a lift kit? Also, do you need to have an alignment done after installing a level kit, as recommended after installing a lift kit? Thank you

    With those 35” + tires along with aftermarket bumpers to fit, you have to cut or remove the crashbars up front. What your guys’ take on that?.?.

    • @TCcustoms_
      @TCcustoms_  6 років тому

      We believe it is personal preference. To some people, they don’t care about the crash bars... they only care about approach angles and getting a massive truck. If crash bars are important to you, we have the Roush Off-Road F-150 that leaves crash bars intact.
