*If you actually build stuff and actually need to haul around stuff- Diesel*
*If you want to occasionally tow that boat of yours- Gasoline*
Occasionally tow I’m even thinking a 1/2 seems like a waste to get a 3/4 gas. Future proofing would be a 1 ton diesel but hate to daily it
Only thing that really could close the gap in my opinion is a gas truck on boost of some sort. I like your friend he’s reasonable he literally couldn’t afford the diesel so guess what HE DIDNT GET IT! He didn’t have mommy and daddy buy it or try to live outside his means. People need to be more like your buddy.
David T I bought a gas truck because the same reason and I couldn’t wait a few more years to get a diesel, and I didn’t want some old diesel loaded with miles and beat to crap for 17k. But I made sure my truck was an ecoboost. A lot of people hate the engine. But it gets good gas mileage and it’s pretty fast for a stock gas truck especially a v6 and it’s twin turbo so you can get down pipes and exhaust and they actually sound good, with the right exhaust and turbo whistle they almost sound like a diesel.
Chris deserves a round of applause for this outro😂
Frankie Drummond-lowery completely agree great job Chris😀
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏. Awesome Outro. !
Love both of them, but Chris’s is my favorite just because it is not too big but yours is beautiful too! I prefer diesel over gas any day
You and your friends are such good people dmax. Good to see there's people on social media that care about there character and values. Long time watcher.keep it up. UA-cam needs more people like you guys on here.god bless.
Chris is ROCKING IT lately on here..... Keep up the Great Work Guys!!! Thanks You. #WORKFORIT #BBBBUILD
Best part of the day , I proud to see ya uploading everyday rhino!!
So glad you made this video! The gas or diesel question has been racking my brain for the past few weeks and I think you’ve helped me make my decision.
DSL FTW??
IMO gas makes A LOT more sense for most. Diesel owners are in one of two camps: need it vs want it.
I daily an empty Cummins 👍🏻😁
DSL ftw!
Great video. Love the point of not getting into debt to impress social media and honestly factoring the budget. It the takes work to make the $.
That gasser sounds mighty good
Gas for me because I would never use a diesel to it’s full potential. Max I have ever towed would be 8500 - 9500lbs and I mostly use my truck for small projects and light construction work. New diesels are too expensive so my 01 gmc 2500hd gasser is plenty for the mean time.
Ya those 6.0 litres are beasts
Jacoby Noctis I actually have the 8.1L with the Allison trans. Crew can with full long bed sitting on 37s. Gets me like 8 mpg if lucky lol
@@nobodyknows_115 oh true. I forgot about the 8.1s
Jacoby Noctis I’ve got a 6.0 and I love it but the mpg is awful😂
Chayton Lewis only drive mine when I really need to. Filling 28 gallons is expensive here in Cali.
Greatest content on UA-cam!
Mmlp2
Video is spot on man,i live in Whitman Massachusetts today the high was 28° tomorrow the high is going to be 30° lets just say its cold as hell, but yea man video was spot on as usual, where can i purchase a WorkForIt hat would love one to represent your brand here keep the awesome content up buddy.
I love the sound of that whistle of a diesel truck and the power to pull anything I want within reason.
Chris is getting better in front of the camera 👍
Both trucks are super awesome! My preference is the gas truck, but in all reality u don't want to build a gas truck to big or there is significant power loss.. but I have a 2015 Silverado 1500 with a 6.5" lift on 35s and it suits me more than fine!
Can't wait to see chris' hair back! 🤘😎 That was hilarious!! Lmao
Always like seeing the Method wheel & mt tire set up !
Awesome Diesel you have there! Congrats. ! 👍💪🇺🇸
Appreciate how you always mention not financing a lift kit or wheels. Too many people want to have things right away without putting in the effort or not doing the 'work for it' way as should be.
I obviously don't disagree that the emission equipment is not good for the engines but I think the power levels have a lot more to do with the longevity. In 20 years the power output has doubled in diesel trucks!
I clicked an ad just for you! 👊🏼 #workforit
Trey Jaramillo you’re the real mvp!
I appreciate this video. People our age (im 27) now days just want the biggest and best without thinking about the impact it will have on them. Instagram really has made our generation think shit comes easy but myself being military knows that aint true.
The part where you talk about finances is the best part of the video. Great advice, way to many people spending way to much just cause there buddies are doing it too.
Best part of my day!!
Lol mine too.
Same
Me Three!!! lol
I've been watching your videos for some time. Great advice about not financing wheels, lift, etc. We don't use credit cards for anything, we work and save for everything we have. The only payments we have are the vehicles and house. As far as gas vs diesel, I spent the last six years wishing I had diesel and borrowing one when I needed to tow heavy. We decided I'd be better off buying our own and did. Regen is annoying, but a small price to pay for the power to tow when I need it. Between the road trips and towing, gasoline would end up costing a fortune too. Way I see it, buy a diesel, pay upfront, buy gasoline, and pay forever. Either way, a truck is expensive and if it's not needed, get a car and save the money. Me, I needed a truck and my little F150 wasn't enough.
I just wanna say thank you for reminding people not to go broke trying to look rich. I've been playing with cars and trucks since I got my license and I know the temptation to break one's budget is always there. I've got a gas F-150 right now, but if I get another truck in the future I'd really like to give a diesel a shot, if the emissions stuff doesn't get even more strict that is.
Great information
I own both love my turbo spooling, unspooling, exhausts sounds etc. But i also love the sound of my cammed silverado i love the rpms shooting to 6k ishh. That's something i cannot do in my tuned Duramax all i get is 3-3.5k
Good video. I like both diesel and gas trucks myself. Both trucks sound good to me.
198 hours straight below zero and my 14 ford 6.7 started every time never plugged it in -28 ambient was the coldest morning
I respect how they being honest about everything helped others that need it💯
I'm a diesel guy, and absolutely LOVE my Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins, but Chris's truck sounds awesome!
I wonder if Chris played that game on Facebook called "Cars"? Because those wheels he has on his truck reminds me of popular wheels that were on that game.. lol.
Cold start on below 30 degress is not bad.this winter cold went down to -60 degress here in wi and my diesel started with no issue.is all about how you take care of it.
I have a 2018 1500 GMC Sierra e-assist (hybrid)... I towed a 8,500lb trailer 2,000 miles across the country with zero issues... at times was going 85mph...Had no prob climbing the Rocky mountains either... I averaged 12.9 mpg as well. Gas motors have came a long way to say the least.
Chris finally stepping out that comfort zone!
Whattttt 3rd comment keep the good cobtent coming Ryno. Nothinf better than a Ryno video after a long hard day or WORKING FOR IT
Oh shit now you really made my day. Finally got you to ❤ a comment @DMAXRYNO
I like chris. Hes chill af
My thought on it is you don't need a diesel unless you plan to be towing alot of weight that a half ton or gas version of a 3/4ton truck can handle, gas will always be cheaper per gallon than diesel, the gas truck will probably be cheaper but it's everyone's choice what they get
Staying in your budget is the biggest problem. I just got a new truck my self. Well new to me it’s. A 2013 Ford F-150 Ecoboost, I wanted a slightly used 6.7 to keep cost down but it was still a little to high on prices. So I started to look at f150s and I drove the Ecoboost which I was on the fence about getting anyways. Then after I got it and did a little towing I’m amazed with it being lifted with 12 wides it dose exactly what I need so far and I’ve have around 8,000 on it. Although I still want diesel I’ll recommend a gas to help keep your credit up don’t hurt your self for the pleasure of things u don’t have to have
I just bought a 18 gasser. in the process of doing 8"bds and regearing it to 4.56. I'll be final drive at around 3.7ish
I'd love to see Chris' truck tow Eddie's trailer! haha
me too
Something tells me not very efficiently...🤔
Is there anything you don’t know. It’s all B S
I have a 2001 HD w/ the 8.1 496 Big Block & 2017 L5P Duramax…it’s all about the earth moving torque!
I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD Excab Duramax LB7 cold air breather and tow tuner. And a 2004 Chevy 3500 8.1 gas crewcab 4x4. And a 1999 Chevy 2500 Excab 6.0 4x4.
I'll be in San Diego again soon. What part of CA are you in?
Hi is at the la fitsnest Lstreet in chula vista
Big Truck Big RV wow didn’t expect to see you on here BTBRV
I subscribe to both. Crazy combo!!
@@leonellopez185 otay lakes
Ryno you definitely need to do this combo
The mad looks that chris gives you in these videos are hilarious
Thanks for the video bud. I’ve only owned gas trucks but at some point i would like to own a diesel
Definitely don't go out trying to look rich.. I was at Walmart and these people were in front of me dressed up in real gucci and couldn't pay for their 30 dollars
Wheres DMAX RYNO 2.0 at lol an couldn't agree more you can't just go get something like this with out being able to afford it the good Lord blessed me with a commercial contracting job where I've worked for 9 years now an I got 3 kids I have a 2017 Chevy 2500 dmax as well and I have a wife and 3 kids but I put food an a roof over my kids an wife's head before lifting it that's for sure...sure I could go out an do it but taking the chance on buying a lift over there well being just isn't worth the cool factor I love how you keep that shit real ryno keep up the good work and hopefully one day I can say " yo RYNO check out my lift " lol good work brother good work
I currently have a 12 sierra and lifted it with 35s and i couldnt haul a single jet ski with it. Trans stayed in 3rd and was reachimg high temps. Re geard to 4:10 and it feels a whole lot better. I still regret not going with a diesel 100%
I was a tech for ford. I’ve seen many gassers live as long or longer than a diesel same with the diesel. Too many variables you buy what you can pay for. Cool rigs you guys have. I stay with my 2014 Silverado I would like to make it into more of a camping rig.
We need a towing test with chris's truck!
Diesel all damn day!
Fuck no. Sounds like a 300lbs woman ass. Gas V8 with a full exhaust and cam all day
@@Strokin383 sounds too me like you have never owned one lmao. A diesel will stomp a gas truck
@@jacobpowers8958 Nope and I don't plan to. Diesel is a fad that will die out. So many people buy them and never use them it's hilarious
@@Strokin383 wow, you sound flamboyant
Love your truck and what your brand stands for. What's the name of the hitch lock you use that allows you to use the same key as your truck key?
good video guys
I got a used 05 duramax for $17k. I only did engine work and wheels and tires. I’m not a lift guy. All in told the truck is almost like new total is around $25k. And I bring da smile to my face every time I drive it. Sure I’d love a 07 or 15 duramax but I can still work on a 05 myself.
Thanks for the upload!! Just in time
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 4x4 crew cab with the hemi and its awesome but I love the diesels too
diesels are for if your going to be doing very heavy towing if your not going to be towing then gas 1500 trucks are the way to go
all you need is an old ford ranger or mini truck 4x4 4cyl and a newer diesel and your good to go! :)
Dude i run a handyman business so yard clean up,masonry, hauling etc. My 01 nissan frontier pulls a trailer just fine 217k. Not much power but reliable
I have a 3l intetcooled turbo diesel
It does me fine
Solid machine
What’s the song called at 2:18 haha btw love your vids man!
Wanna get a duramax but the cp4 issues have me on the fence. Do u plan to cp3 swap your truck or do you think it will be fine with the cp4?
My first diesel was a 98 12valve Cummins short bed ever since then can’t stay away from them
5 bucks , holy cow, its 3.19 here in CT. I've been looking at a delete but I can't do it because the GVWR is registered at 1 pound below the threshold which makes no sense since I have a crew cab 4wd, and the single cab 2wd is apparently the same weight. Who knows
#1 love your vids,I just bought my first GMC YES USED but loaded lifted truck. Still trying to figure out what lift kit it has on it it’s a gaser just so you know I’ve looked over the whole lift kit for a name I’ve found nothing the only thing I’ve seen is under the front wheels
Is the brace in the center it has a unique liter M in the center can you please tell me what kit I have.
Also got to change them gears when changing tires
I think one thing that was kinda miss but it can go into high maintenance or finding fuel is that, with diesel, it is more prone to collect more water than gas. Do to the chemical bonding in gas somewhat dissolve some water/ or less prone to collect water buildup. Diesel on the other hand, even though it has a lower flash point, when not treated for amount of time. Diesel can separate the water, and can cause water build up in tanks. That's why many diesel owner say the best diesel fuel to get is at a truck stop, because the diesel fuel will never sit and start collecting water. it will always be refill with good quality fuel. Now if you live in a town where your local gas station has a diesel pump, keep an eye on it, and see how many diesel trucks go through that station to fill up. if it not a lot of truck roll through there, more than likely the diesel would start collecting water at the bottom and then when you pump, it will go directly in your tank and you pump not diesel but water and would now have engine failure. but many local gas station that sell diesel would generally have a small holding tank just for that reason.
One question I have. Did you do anything with your brakes? Does that 2500 have any problems stopping those 40’s?
Gasser but only because I live in Northern Lower Michigan and diesel's are not easy to maintain up here unless you are lucky enough to have a heated garage.
I owned a new 2015 gas Chevy for 2 years and now new owned to a daramax best buy hands down
Im watching this today deciding if im getting rid of my diesel. I dont tow a ton but when i tow its 13k lbs and up. i got a deal on it so i bought the truck but im running into the financial hit for maintenance. Ive got a 2010 f250 6.4l turbo diesel. Been looking for a 2016-2019 gas
We call it keeping up with the Jones’s in the south. Stay classy and live within your means.
I like diesels, but it wasn't in my budget, like my 5.3L, just with it was a 6.2L or 6.6L
Love the content as always! Great comparison. I drive a ‘13 1500. I prefer the sound of the gas V8 personally. Imagine a diesel camaro??! Didn’t think so, lol. Out of curiosity though, as I’m considering the same setup as Chris, could you ask him about ride quality? Much appreciated as always!
There is a diesel Camaro on UA-cam, it's pretty bad ass
I eat my words! I knew I should have googled that first! Lmao
retro fit the 1500 tail lights on to the denali
I personally prefer the sound of gas for some reason, can’t really explain why 😅
My 8.1 gasser with 220k miles on 33’s tows my 21ft trailer around 8k pounds loaded tows like a dream. I’ve raced a few tuned diesels and i usually take it. My gas millage is bad but i didn’t buy the truck for good gas millage so i ain’t worried about that.
Socal 8.1 The tune diesels let you win
John C you wish😂
@@johnc6256 they must be powerstrokes 🤣
want to add on your point on power, you can run bigger tires on a diesel truck without regearing than you can on a gas truck. You need to go shorter gears with pretty much any tire 2 sizes larger than stock on a gasser while a diesel can probably turn 4 or more sizes bigger tires without problems (although you would still want to regear anyway if you're going to tow a lot and/or really heavy)
oh you covered this after I posted it lol
Chris really came out of his shell... finally 🤯
also about diesels remember diesel fuel is not as regulated or used as much and it will vary from state to state IL is notorious for bad fuel but Indiana and Iowa are fine be wary of it itll change from one station to next
I have never owned a diesel just gas but dad had one and he said he will never buy another one because they cost to much to fix. My 1995 Chevy has pulled dads 01 ford 1ton diesel home a few times. So I will stick to gas but to each their own right.
Dmaxryno you should do a review on the gmc canyons duramax diesel
For me, the only compelling reason for diesel is the engine exhaust brake when towing in mountain passes. But, you can get by perfectly fine with 10spd in tow haul mode on modern truck if you don't overload tow or payload capacity.
Gas for me! Don't really have a "need" for a big diesel. Daily drive In Boston and it's hard enough with my truck now to find parking at job sites.
BOSTON!!
good video btw
Tell chris to get some 4.10s for those 35s.
Too me the sound of a cammed gas motor sounds alot better a diesel
They are different sounds for sure! I love em both in their own way.....
Cummins sounds best of all diesels
Turbo whistle is pretty cool to
Turbo diesel all the way... sends chills up my spine everytime I hear it
I bought my 2016 Silverado Duramax Z71 LTZ for $59k out the door brand new. I visited the dealer in November and the stock was really low for the 2016's and they were making room for the 2017's. I bargained for about a week and they had to pick up the truck I wanted from another dealer. So maybe this may help someone else. Pain in the ass to buy but worth it in the end.
Chris’s truck is the best sounding gas truck I’ve ever heard
Speaking of cold start my deleted lml did not want to start this morning, forgot to plug in
Well i live in Nebraska so the cold temperature thing i guess just made my mind up for me unfortunately lol.
Great video. I go by the rule? I don’t know if it’s a rule? Bigger the truck the bigger the problems! Duramax!
difference in cost between a gas 1500 and diesel 2500 is you can pretty much with out trying get 11-12k off the sticker on a 1500 then you can start negotiating from there. ON a 2500 you're lucky to get 5-6k worth of rebates and have the "if we don't sell it to you the next guy will buy it" attitude. I have bought three different 1500 chevy high countries and each time I got around 14k off sticker without too much hassle. On my new 2500 HD High country I got 8800 off and that was it and that was using a GM supplier discount.
going from a lifted 5.3 1500 with 33s to a 6.6 duramax lifted on 35s...dpf delete , egr. straight piper with a tuner will get you better fuel milage with twice the power and bigger tires. Living in Alberta Canada temp drops under -40c and the pros still out weigh the cons for me.
If you're towing heavy and often, definitely go diesel. Otherwise I'd go gas.
Hey Chris, I asked Eddie this question as well, why no stacks on your truck?
You should rid of those rough textured black fender pieces and get some smooth ones that are primered and powder coat then powder coat them the bronze
I prefer gas, I have a 2017 ram 1500 5.7 Sport 8 speed 3.21 rear axle ratio regular cab, i love it never ceases to amaze me
Until your transfer case blows apart and you drop your drive shaft... my stepfather's dodge 2500 5.7L just had that happen... sucked
@@TacticoolVIKINGBeard dodge sucks, the 1500 sucks even more
It’s been 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit every morning for the past 2 weeks and the duramax that I bought recently starts like a dime every morning
I just got rid of my 17 gmc 2500 and got a 17 all terrain.
Chris getting the 3.0 diesel when it comes out? 2020 at4 diesel is what he needs.
Ryno! I just got pulled over for my 04 dually having white smoked led cab lights, I’m wondering if that is in fact illegal?? Any thoughts?? I’m from Texas by the way
