Woodturning - Hybrid Pine Cones on FIRE
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 кві 2022
- In this woodturning video, I will transform some ordinary pine cones into hybrid epoxy resin bowl. This resin art piece combines a simple material as the pine cones widely available for low cost or free in combination with epoxy resin to give that modern touch to the piece. For this reason, even for beginner woodturners a great project to start with to experience hybrid woodturning and to create something very unique. The resin bowl was wet sanded to high grit then polish to great shine.

Interesting and pretty bowl, David. I only once worked with resin and decided - never again! Too much of a mess! Question: When you prepare the mold - why the masking tape to keep the inside container down? Why not simply put some weithts (nuts, bolts, lrad sinkers etc.) in it. Kind regards.
Awesome! Just wondering where I can have little tokens made?

I love this channel. It’s not your typical run of the mill woodturning channel. I like how you use different things to make unique pieces. Awesome work!
Thank you 😀
Молодец Виталик!
This is a beautiful bowel that would look fine with some expensive faux fruits and flowers displayed in it. Someone would be very lucky to have such a beauty in their home.👏🏻👏🏻🧓🏻🏘🌹🌹🌹🌻🌻🌷🌷🥀🥀💐🎀

I like all of your creations you make with wood turning, especially with pine cones 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thank you so much 😀
That's beautiful I like the colour of it .it makes it intriguing. And makes it stand out
i love when a project calls for the colors to be mixed so strong that the shavings come out colored instead of just white. that’s how you know they’re nice and vibrant. this one especially.
best woodturning channel on youtube. without a doubt!
Thank you 😀

Very beautiful art work
Thank you 😀
Beautiful! I love the mix of colors. Pinecones always look amazing when turned. Also the way you poured it to save on resin was great!
GOREGOUS!
good!!!
Bold move on the red, but oh, so gorgeous. I like how you minimized the resin usage, I see so much waste on other turner's posts.
Thank you :)
Beautiful work!

Great wood art absolutely gorgeous bowl thanks for sharing David 👍
Thank you 😀
David this is yet again another piece of beautiful art in a bowl I absolutely love the epoxy colours and the design that's left from the pine cones is just amazing 👍👍👍
Thanks so much 😀
That is a beautiful bowl. You do some really nice epoxy creations. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
This is gorgeous, David! The color is amazing and the pine cones give an almost floral appearance, very nice.
Thanks Lucy. Not my usual colour to go with but very pleased with it 😀
👏
Absolutely beautiful and what a smart way to save from pouring a bunch of resin that will be later carved away. The white substance you applied at the end. Is that a polish specifically for resin based objects?
One suggustion David, get rid is that paddle wheel for mixing epoxy. Epoxy is supposed to mix slowly. This will get rid of all your microbubbles. I've been working with epoxy for years.
Thanks Patrick. The resin I use is super durable. Sets after 4-5 hours so will release all the bubble. Plus I do not show sometimes when I put the resin into vacuum to get rid of air bubbles before pour :)
Beautiful. Looking at the inside, it was as if it had been made with fossilised sea creatures.
Thanks so much 😊
This is the second time that I've watched this video. Awesome bowl !
I know the process that you used and you're a Pro . I have several resin and pine cone projects planned for this year and after picking up a few more tricks from watching you I think that my process will be much easier. Thanks for sharing
Hey , make some more stuff will ya?
Oh yeah more to come… just make sure you dry them out.
got a link for the resin
Beautiful bowl - really stunning!! Forgive me, I'm a new sub with no idea about this type of process, but just wondering what happens in the metal drum thing, you seem to pump air in it and leave it for a few days - does this dry the resin out? Apologies if you've answered this question 92.7k times! 🤔👀👍
Great job love your videos may i ask where you get your signature coins i really like them
Thanks 😊 check out von hake in etsy
What a stunning piece. I love, love 💘 ❤ the color and the pinecone rim. Beautiful. Where can I get one?
Please contact me via my website :) link in description
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What polish did you use ?
Gorgeous work, as always! What do you use for polishing that makes it look so beautiful?
Thank you! Used Roar Advanced Finishing
That is beautiful! Where do you get those round sanding pads from?
Check out ebrasives.com/
Why did you wait 5 hours to add the epoxy to the mold?
Beautiful even thou it's not my color
I like the pine cone idea, but have you thought about using one giant pine cone? They get some really big ones in California.
Rare to find giants here in the uk but maybe one day 😀
DUDE!!! What did you DO??? Normally, I detest epoxy. But what you did here? Oh man! I AM IN AWE!!! And, actually... it's not even woodturning 😄. I mean, those cony things... you don't consider them to be wood do ya? Job SO very well done.
Thank you 😀
Can you make a Green bowl? that would look awesome with the brown pinecones.
Will be doing more colours soon ;)

Is it safe to eat off that bowl? Wonder if it could go in the dishwasher.
No to both to be honest. Mainly for decoration use
