Woodturning - FIRE Log To FIRE Vase 🔥
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 кві 2021
- In this video I will show how to turn a beautiful log into the breath-taking fire vase using epoxy resin and red pigments. Log is unknown, could be a mulberry piece but it has intense yellow colour what makes it the prefect match to combine with red resin to create lava/ fire effect. Sanded to high grit then some Yorkshire grit and final buff to give a good shine.

It's like magic. Just gorgeous! When the video ended I gave you a round of applause!
You have made a masterpiece out of a piece of wood that had no character. Now you have added character and beauty to make this gorgeous vase all with your talent and creativity! Bravo!
That is one gorgeous piece. The red inside all the little veins of the wood is incredible thanks for sharing! I have never seen anything like what you do before I found you. It’s fascinating!

Gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful! I love watching how it transforms from dull to super shiny when you wipe it down at the end - what do you use, is it an oil?
I use just mineral oil or lin seed oil
I normally favor blue but this is beautiful!

What an amazing colour combo! Wonder how those little rocks got inside the log? That must have been one heck of a clean up job after turning that beautiful vase - there was resin string everywhere!! 🤩👍👀🌋

Nice bro😍
Thank you :)
I'm not big on reds but this is beautiful.
🤩🤩😍
wow
I'm new to your site David. Love it. Just wonder if you ever sell your finished products ( or duplicate them for sale ) ?
That looks really nice. What is the wood? Depending on the light it looks either yellow or even greenish. I'm always glad when a resin project lets the wood come back out. Sometimes you hardly see the wood for all the resin.
Thanks Thomas. Not sure on the wood sadly. When I asked others the following came up: acacia, mulberry, black locust 😀
Easy way to find out if it's black locust. Black locust fluoresces under black light
Lovely work! Would've been nice though to have had a longer look at the finished product at the end...just to further enjoy and admire your fine art.
Thank you !
Hello David. Love your videos and your artwork. My question is where did you find those rollers for your steady rest? What are they called?
It is from a recycled roller skater :)
رائع
That wood is amazing my friend and the red resin comprehends it very well. Beautiful piece.
Thank you 😀
😮😮😮🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those rocks must’ve been a scary thing to find considering what they do to tools. This really is a lovely piece, well done!
Yes they damaged my carbide tools but at least that is a quick and easy fix just to change the carbide bit. Thank you for watching ;)
Nice piece! Dave could you clue me in , I don't see many bubbles in the epoxy. I know you poured after mix, did you heat up the mix or perhaps type of resin mix you are using is doing the trick. I just started with resin mixes and would like to know. I am using pressure pot but your piece looks a bit tall for them Thanks
Thanks Scott. I normally use pressure pot but yes this was too tall to fit. Used special deep pour resin (good up to 10cm thickness ) from ResinPro. Resin was at room temperature. As it was deep poor resin the curing time is much longer so that allows most of the bubbles to come up to the top
@@DavidsWoodturning thanks for the reply....
Beautiful, tell me when you do these projects what type of resin are you using?
Класс!!!! 👍👍😍♥️💚💚🌹
is it just me or did the giant resin cylinder pre-turning look like a giant red Jolly Rancher? 🤔 (maybe I'm just hungry lol)
you are definitely hungry :)
I'm so impressed with your talent, and I love your videos! Is it hard to sell your pieces after so much time goes into them? I feel like I'd have an entire house full of vases and bowls because I wouldn't want to part with them. And yes, I know the whole point is to sell them so you can make a living as an artist, but I wonder if you get emotionally attached to your work. I know I would! Keep up the great work!
You hit the nail on the head. Yes, I do have that emotional attachment with all my turnings. It was a lot more difficult to sell any piece at the end it is better now :) As you said it helps funding other projects and to grow the business plus I still have project everywhere in the house :)
