What caught my eye for safety was him wearing gloves and not rolling his sleeves up while turning that block of wood on the lathe, my high school shop teacher made us watch safety films and take a test about this before we could operate any of the equipment. All it takes is one snag and he’s going to get pulled into the lathe and seriously injured or killed.

What you are doing is of fallacious logic. You are requiring a person to have more talent/experience than the person they are criticizing. It's like saying that YOU can't tell if the milk in the fridge has gone bad because you're not a cow. Certainly we can all see a diamond ring is beautiful without being a volcano. How can YOU say it's good unless YOU have adequate experience to judge? I listed the things I saw wrong in my first post. Anyone experienced with even WATCHING wood-turning videos could see how bad it is. You are without logic. You fail.

The artist's experienced hands skillfully guide the chisel across the wood's grain, revealing glimpses of the latent form within. The once-inert block gradually yields to the artist's vision, transforming from a rough exterior into refined curves and elegant lines. With each delicate stroke, the wood seems to come alive, whispering its secrets to the artist. This collaborative process between artist and material culminates in the emergence of the vessel, a testament to the power of artistry and the enduring beauty of nature.

I can't wood turn anymore due to arthritis but have to say I would've loved to turn this piece. PS if you do decide to take this up do not skimp on your tool sharpening equipment!!! Yea, government stifles individual liberty and craftsmanship with all their safety "mandates".

@@libertypastor1307 That's such a moronic thing to say. Safety mandates are so that employers can't force their employees to work under unsafe conditions. Which is without a doubt a good thing

@@kilian-one-l We are not slaves; so no one can force us to work under any circumstances or conditions, safe or not.
Americans used to be self-sustaining until factories were invented.
I firmly believe people ought to start their own businesses without any government intervention. The market will weed out the cruel and unjust employers, if there are multiple similar businesses to choose from.
Both socialism and communism are for morons, to use your term.
Liberty is for inventive, self-sufficient, industrious, motivated go-getters.

@@libertypastor1307 This is incredibly naive. They absolutely can and do force people to work under poor conditions (Have you somehow never heard of Amazon?) because losing your job in the US also means losing insurance. Starting your own business is expensive, pretty much no one has the money to do that anymore, because the cost of living has risen and continues to rise, while minimum wage hasn't risen with it. The market absolutely doesn't weed out cruel and unjust employers, because it's less expensive to treat employees like shit (A la Amazon forcing their employees to piss in bottles rather than lose a minute of productivity). That "If" in "if there are multiple similar businesses to choose from" is a BIG if, as the "free market" is enabling these companies to become monopolies.

@@kilian-one-l If people are too weak to start their own business, they are too weak to leave a job that mistreats them. Their weakness makes them slaves.
Even homeless people are figuring out they can wash car windows at gas stations to buy food. People are just too lazy.
If all the Amazon workers would just walk out and be determined to never go back, that would be a good start.
I wish Americans would just refuse to work for any corporation.
Some 30 years ago, I started a lawn mowing business, not to build a big business, but rather to earn my own living. Once I had enough customers to pay my bills and have a little extra, I stopped looking for more. The problem is that people are greedy and want to be rich and they want to get rich quick. I still work for myself all these years later.
So don't tell me I am naive. Too many people in general are just plain lazy or ignorant, or both.
Besides that, there are tons of jobs people can do from their home nowadays. Unfortunately, most of them are for corporations, which I avoid.
People need to get back to growing their own food, and looking for ways they can provide a product or service to others, and get to work finding a way to do that.
With the internet, you can always learn how to do anything!

I would have saved a lot of material by leaving out at least 10 pieces of those that you used and cut away. At the very least 4 could have been saved for a later work. It was a really good piece you've done and deserves for you to be proud of it. Well done.
