I worked as a tooling designer for some Apple products, and everything is very overkill with them. Their power supplies are nuts, they not only put an adhesive inside, but then had us weld the two halves of the clam shell together. The tolerances that were required meant that my company needed to get some new equipment as well as having a ton of rejected parts because they didn't meet spec. Honestly there's more that happened with them, but I don't want to write a short story. Additionally this was stuff ~4 years ago which is out of my NDA so I got that going for me too.
I also wanted to add that I doubt much of that is actually extruded aluminum. The satin finish can be done using scotch bright, which is like the coarse side of a sponge, and elbow grease or a vibrating sander.

I bet the purpose of the RFID thing is so that when Apple makes different phones, they can just give out new hot pockets that can then tell the machine what kind of heat to put out for for that specific unit just in case the new phone has more or less glue in it than another model.

A lot of people just fancy the idea of self repairing, but are not aware that they are actually ill-equipped to perform maintenance beyond changing a removable battery or a SIM card in an old feature phone. The situation is the same for cars and watches. The strange fact that Apple is pressed to make a repair program for their crazy tightly engineered phones to even the least tech literate people means that their tooling has to be insanely fool-proof. Low repairability is a consequence of how tightly integrated modern tech is, everything has to be laminated and stuck together to create the devices that we take for granted. The reason they do data over NFC is that the other pins are probably not data pins. I assume that 2 of the pins are power for the heat catuses and the other two are simply transmitting the thermometer analogue. The chipset, which interprets the resistance in temperature, will most likely only be found in the device.

there are a few ways to take off temper seals and actually just stick them back on after and 100% you cant tell it was ever done... basically you just use a solvent(denatured alcohol), scalpel and some tweezers... after the sticker is off you let it dry and it will still be sticky when dried and you just stick it back on when done...
