Update video - • Apple Replaced My iMac...
Apple's new iMac Pro is a $5,000+ machine but many users are reporting that Apple Support isn't servicing them-even under warranty. They repaired ours, but the Genius Bar destroyed it in the process. What a disaster!

What rock have you been living under?
Apple has ALWAYS had a flair for treating their customers like pieces of garbage and selling them overpriced and overhyped pieces of shit that can't even perform as well as the much cheaper much friendlier competition.
The only thing top-tier about Apple is their pricing. Everything else is just on the level of a Chinese scammer.

Prob spending more cash so considered more"valuable". Figures with them. They're con artists plain and simple. They just know how to use the law to their advantage and have the finance to front pretty much any case thrown at them. Classic examples of corporate greed and capitalism at it's worst. These companies are why small business can't compete as they have money to get round all the govt red tape that small business can't. It's why our countries go backwards not forwards as they evade billions in taxes whilst we pay more for less. Whilst you continue to support their product you support the very thing bringing down your society from inside out.
Thats not true. But you wouldnt know as you surely never owned a mac product.
Apple has been doing this for years dude. If you think Apple can, or even wants to, get this "nonsense" under control, you're naive.

If something like that happens again, bring it to a hobby machinist, they'll have you sorted in no time. Also, the screws were probably manufactured properly but weren't designed to hold at only 5 points and the vesa mount might also cause greater sheer stress on the screws
I know what your talking about. I made my own out of aircraft aluminum, and just ordered Japan grade stainless steel screws. I sourced screws directly from a screw manufacturer, and they only offered in lots of 50 or 100 minimum. But price was like 5 bucks for 50.

It was on the charger plugged in, when I was away, my mom was at home, when I got back the phone kept thinking it was December 21, 1971, and was deleting information, and suddenly died - bricked. Apple said it was our fault, and to just buy a new one. This was a new ipod that still had a warranty.
kudos to this man's sheer patience. I would be outraged.
If anybody has ever said, "Ah, Apple's products are not overpriced, it's all worth it because they do not cut corners!"
They can take it back now.
hem reviews You right they would make excuses like that lol
Those people have been wrong for ages. This just adds another way in which they are wrong.
Apple products have bad to mediocre hardware specs.
Bad customer service.
Expensive software.
No personalization.
Don't let you moderate your own computer properly.
Yada yada
The only things they're 'good' at is having hardware that's been cherry picked. Not because it benefits the consumer in terms of performance, but because they have to cherry pick it to accommodate for their awful design decisions that only allow for sub par cooling solutions.
The OS is also pretty well made on an efficiency and stability level.
But these things make it an amazing computer for day to day office work, which really isn't worth the price.
Just bs pic fanboys say to feel better about themselves. Anyone that actually knows about their hardware knows it's higher priced than the equivalent pic, but with "some" products, the ability to walk into a store at any time (when open) for support make it worth the price. And no I'm not a huge Apple fan either. Mostly vintage stuff, but what pc fanboys say now was said back then, and apple owners knew the hardware wasn't perfect, just like ANY pc made. Zero computer have been made that are perfect like you think. Tbh I've had more major issues with pc based computers than Apple machines. But hey, when idiots pretend they know hardware they've never owned and just repeat others opinions because they can't think for themselves, the rest of the tech world has to deal with whiney children like you.
Ask Me pic?
Do you mean pc?
If you do; theres a difference between paying more than it cost to make it, and paying more for a product that gets outperformed by cheaper products in most if not all departments. 300 dollar pc vs 400 dollar console, the pc will outperform the console in pretty much everything. 800 dollar homebuilt pc vs 1500 dollar imac pc and youll see the homebuilt beats it every time. Not only does it run faster and is way more durable, you can also repair it yourself if you ever need to.
Edit: its not about being perfect, or opinions. Its about hard facts shown by benchmarks and based on physics, the way hardware works and build quality. The only redeeming thing about apple products is that the iOS is very efficient
But that doesnt make up for its lack of user control and bad usability.
Also, you can walk into most if not all tech repair stores with a pc. Even some normal tech stores like mediamarkt
5000$ for gta at 60fps what a deal
zbik
The PS4 & Xbox only can do an Avg. 32 fps lol
i have a feeling its vsync. The way the frames fluctuate around 60 makes it look like vsync
except its not, its a benchmark you can see top left that theres a mouse icon
zbik no it’s not it’s on benchmark look again you can also see a mouse icon and fps
Liam Connolly he had something like vsync on. The monitor isn't over 60hz. You can see that the fps locks in the 58-62fps framerate, I'm sure the computer can do more but the sync locks it at 60 to prevent tearing.
I knew that zinc plated screws exist, fully zinc screws is a new one for me.
Id look into replacing those screws with some decent stainless steel ones from a hardware store. You can probably find identical ones, or at least ones with identical size and threads, for less than a dollar for all five. They went on the cheap regarding the screws, for which there is no excuse for a 5000 system
Thus the whole point of paying more for Apple is basically defeated.
Indeed.
So we just take your word that you didn't break it yourself because you have the tool-handling intellect of a mushroom?
Yeah, I'm convinced you fucked it up because you cant grasp how a tool works and your mom did everything for you in life.
Going out of your way here, to insult somebody based on your assumptions? Just to defend a company to which you honestly shouldnt have any loyalty towards, because it surely doesn't care about you at all.
I'm not defending Apple. Never said anything about them. Not going out my way either. This was zero-effort. Guaranteed this soy-boy crossed the thread when he initially mounted it and is now paying the price for playing with Barbies as a child.

I did mine another way. I sourced one of these VESA mount adaptors second hand for cheap. Since I'm the type of guy who always takes apart his equipment, or is always doing some modification. I took a look at the screws and knew immidiately they were not high quality and look like it was casted pot metal. I bet that with 5000$ you can get a monster custom build, with at least 4 time the performances
I would never ever think about buying an imac pro. But a video from Linus tech tipps showed that they aren't that much overpriced if you pick similar retail-pc-parts. The issues are: not being able to upgrade and even do simple maintenance like getting rid of dust, which surely will have a noticeable impact on the life expectancy. (plus poor performance because of thermal issues) Apple nowadays is really garbage.
But they have shown us that the IMac cann run GTA V at 30 fps in 4k, while the gtx 1080 TI can double that
to be fair, the imac pro is not a gaming machine. GTA V is probably not a good tool for overall performance benchmark...
yeah seems fair, but there still charge 2000$ for the Apple Brand™
yeah it's way to overpriced and frankly not very good machines. I inherited a late 2013 imac from my dad last year... I use it for work, but only in memory of him. Those things just don't perform well at all, especially compared to a similar self-built windows machine. I dont get why people still buy these things like crazy...
So for future reference, if you're in this kind of situation, you can use a snake adaptor and a very small drill bit to drill the screw out. If you're super resourceful, you can get a reverse cut drill bit and it's even better (will pull the screw out if it binds).
I went to Apple Genius bar once. One Genius guy there didn't even know how to exit the camera app from his own iPad (no home button type), like literally. What a Genius!

Have you ever heard of frame cap and refresh rate? If you haven't I'll teach you. Refresh rate is the amount of times the frame refreshes per second. Imac pro has a 60hz refresh rate which means that the screen can only refresh 60 times per second. Frame cap is the amount of frames per second it's locked at. So even if you have 144hz it can still be locked at 60hz.
@@SaintAldrich Still, his argument is very valid. Let's say 3k for the hardware (and that is too much), 2k for the 60Hz refresh rate display.... Or even 1k for the display... 60Hz didn't belong in the '10's, and if you didn't notice, currently we are living in the 20's....
@@SimonLeBonbonbon True but the screen has a 5k resolution so it would be hard getting over 60 fps in some of the more demanding tasks. 120Hz or 144Hz would be nice though. I am disappointed about the build quality though.

During this process, once I got the vesa adapter off and started to put the stand back on, the screws just flat out broke once I put the card in, heard the latch click, started to lift up the stand to its original position (even though it was moving smoothly), and “snap” goes all the screws. I now have an unusable computer until I can find a place that sells those exact screws. Yes I was being careful and going slowly, but even though I did everything exactly right, it’s still a horrible design. I’m gonna see what apple says, now that I can text back and forth with them. Pls let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions about how I can obtain a whole bunch of those screws just in case this keeps happening. I’m sorry that happened to you. I didn’t have any damage to the stand, but the iMac Pro is nicked in the same places where you showed in the video. Unbelievable 🙄
*Have you tried rebooting it?*
He cant reboot a stand dumbass

Man apple is killing themselves with all this bad PR.
Can't say they don't deserve it.
They been dead to me for years
well they aren't killing themselves with bad PR, their shitty design is always an issue. My macbook pro (the first retina model) hinge was loose and i saw similar issue in almost all the apple forums. Also the macbook once won't turn on and a apple icare said it was liquid damage (i have never spilled anything on that $2500 thing, it was like the most expensive thing i had back then) and that motherboard and ssd needed replacement which would cost about $1000 so i gave up. Then i gave to to a trusted local repair guy he resoldered the mobo and i bought an adapter for using a 3rd party ssd like Samsung 850 evo msata drive which turned out fixing the macbook for under $100 (which is the cost of ssd) and the repair guy just told me to give $10 because he didn't do much. OMG! (That 2 years ago or something...it's my bro daily driver lap...still no prob)
To be fair Apple's MacBooks are much more reliable than any other brand.
Seth Malvin nope you want reliability, go thinkpad
The ratio of complaints about customer service to dollars spent of frequent apple customers is the most absurd thing in the world
Cant wait for apple's new plastic screws for $300 😍✨
"This is probably apple's worst designed product" Have you seen Louis Rossmann's channel?
recrap smleh Louis sent me.
Pretty much all of them are poorly designed. Now we're just in scam territory
You don't know what you are talking about thats for sure!
In the first 10 seconds i heard $5k and saw 60 FPS on screen - i actually laughed out loud
for that price you could get an 8K TV and more
- The iMac Pro is a workstation.
- GTA V for Mac does not exist. It has to be emulated.
@@Simboiss Guess what?My pc is a even better emulator priced at 6k,and i can literally do everything the iMac can do but at atleast 30 times it's speed.. Search up HP Z640 128 gb ram,you won't be dissapointed
Yeah, that's the kind of computer the iMac Pro is. It's not a gaming rig for the regular consumer. However, the kind of machine you linked will not run "30 times faster" than the iMac Pro. Among other things, it depends on the graphics card, and what type of work you're doing on it. You also have to find a comparable 5K screen, which is quite hard. Apple screens are notoriously high quality.
Also, the video shows the game V-Synced to the screen's refresh rate.
Ok let's say it is a work station. Really?? 8gb of ram??? For $5000 of your hard earned money. Sure if you wanna spend the money, go ahead.
How hard is it to make four 100x100mm pre-drilled holes from the factory? VESA-stands are standard.
It's possible this occured due to a cross threaded screw. Just the fact you mentioned over-tightening but not cross-threading makes me suspicious. It's very easy to do with screws that have a small pitch and you can tell it's happening if it's taking a little bit too much torque to get the screw turned, before you've gotten very far with it. Another possibility is the screws are not matched to the holes due to a design or manufacturing flaw. If you had a stronger screw material and either of these problems existed, all you'd end up doing is lunching the threads in the hole.
apple:" we make very high quality products"
I Mac Pro screws:"Let me introduce myself"
You have to take the perspective into consideration. For _you_ and most sane people, zink screws are an utterly terrible idea that makes no sense. For _Apple_ though, zink screws and other badly designed and cheaply produced products are just _perfect._
Low costs and high prices, combined with a cult that makes people actually believe those products actually break because of 'water damage' and not because of planned obsolescence, what better product can you have?
It's not just the screws... Look at the new MacBook Air and their wireless fan that is not connected to the heatsink.
@@HelloItsMikkan it doesn’t need a fan
@@editorbarb9591 yes it does all computers need fans and heat sinks for cooling.
I like how they call their employee's geniuses and yet they can't get the job done without wrecking your computer.
Apple probably watched this video and this is why they sell the pro display XDR stand for $1000
And now there is a $1000 display monitor
He : I bought the 5000 dollar base model
Me : coughs blood
HAHAHAAHAHA they call themselves geniuses that's the funniest thing ever
Ikr? These fucktards wouldn't know their way around a real computer if their lives depended on it.

@@tigeraki555 Hell the Geek Squad probably _are_ geniuses compared to the "genius bar".
@@unnamed715 y know maybe there regular people who want to work at apple but aren't techies and bull shitted their way through their interview?
The craziness of all is that all of this could have been avoided if new screws were bought.

This is so true. So. Damn. True.
And shove it in their ass.

well they were able to sell a stand for $1000 so close enough
because people are stupid :)))))))))
Next week on the news: Linus, Louis Rossmann, and Mr. Snazzy caught burning down an Apple store together.

I'm glad your title was accompanied by a picture where you are standing there with a frowny face. I would not have concluded you were mad if your thumbnail did not include a picture of your disappointment
The question I'd be asking what did they do to it to cause that much damage to it?
