I am a former Television video News Photographer. WRBL TV-3 in Columbus, Georgia. 1984-2013. I was a News Photographer by day during the week, and a nightclub photographer by night; primarily the weekends. Much of this channel highlights those nights documenting the music nightlife on Broadway in Columbus, Georgia. Familiar faces such as actors and actresses visited those nightclubs. And there are some singers who are known today. I was able to document some of them. Also highlighted here, documented on those few occasions that I have been available to shoot photographs of, the work of Robert Wright of The Old Byrd Farm, and Sidestep Adventures. Plus the now familiar face of George Kenley Green (Uncle Ken). Viewers have 'met' him at The Old Byrd Farm. Walter B. Mallard Jr.

Wednesday June 26, 2024 I've found more photographs of weekends spent with Ken, Brian, and Little George. There are other people that we had dealings with as well. Our first weekend hangout was completely changed from what we knew and loved.
Ken Tape Sunday June 21, 1992

Ken, Little George, and I sit in Wendy's car at the house in Waverly Hall, and talk about most of nothing, some serious, but mostly just idle talk. Brian is at work at ARBY'S in Columbus. Mom and Wendy are over in front of the house part of the time, and then in the house as the sun goes down, talking themselves. The tape drifts off to just kind of natural sound at the Farm at night.

Thursday April 15, 2024 Ken And His Gang are out around Pine Mountain, Georgia, Waverly Hall, The Old Byrd Farm, and the Dirt Road Behind The Baptist Church with some more guests. One Kitty guest appearance who is happy as a lark lying in the grass and leaves. Jennifer makes an appearance as well as her brother Johvan.

Friday April 26, 2014 Subscriber Glen Cannon drove to Columbus to meet with Brian and me. We met at Dinglewood Pharmacy, and ate at the old style lunch area. Glen and I enjoyed scrambled dogs, and we had good conversation. It's a video about nothing. The best kind. Sort of like a 'Ken Tape'. This is part one. It ends abruptly because Brian's GoPro that I was using shut off and I lost some of th...

Friday April 19, 2024 Ken takes us along on some more weekend adventures. And we see some other people along the way. Ken sports a new fashion for him!
You all have a lot memories of some fun times! Just hanging out and creating your own fun! As a kid, I didn't sit in the house watching tv, I was outside running around the neighborhood hanging out with friends! The good old days! 😊
Evocative, wistful haunting. I have many, many photos of my kids when they were growing up but don't ever look at them because it makes me sad.
@@trixier6505 I know it must. Time just flies by!
great images, so nice to see the glimpses of the past of Waverley hall GA. it is great to see the buildings people and buildings. so much changes over time, so often not noticed by the people living there , you see how it was, and now the changes.
how are you and Ken doing? Well I Hope
I was wondering about Uncle Ken.
I love you're Memory Lane photos of you all. The country side, and the absolutely beautiful sky...Waverly Hall is pretty special, thank you Walter 😁
@@mercedithcompala8148 You're welcome, Meredith! I appreciate your liking of these videos. I love photographing the sky. I am in Macon with Sly, and have been shooting the blue sky and white clouds this morning.
I know that your photos are like treasures to you. I hope Uncle Ken is doing well. I have been MIA for a while as I am having health issues. I love your videos and hope to be back! Blessings!!❤
Love the pictures I grew up in the country in the 50s & 60s every generation thinks theirs was the best ours truly was
Agree. Being a teen in the Sixties was amazing, although we didn't realize it at the time.
One more great video.

I noticed on Roberts video when y'all were searching family cemetery that he mentioned you were his uncle. Is Bryan the guy with y'all his uncle to? Great Video
Yes. Brian Mallard (Down The Road With Brian Mallard) and I are Robert's uncles. Ken is Brian's and my uncle.
I really enjoiy all your videos. And I d enjoy the black and white ones. Its just something about them that really takes me back . Children now days will never know the joy of exploring the world we grew up in. Their nose is stuck in their phones. My 16 year old granddaughter and her mom just left after visiting for a week and even in the middle of the night if she got up to go to the bathroom she had that phone. Lol. I'm so thankful for growing up in the eta i did and living in the country. There was so much exploring to do we never ran out of things to do. This world we love I. Now scares me for the children's sake. God bless you your family and uncle Ken. I imagine he was a hoot as my granny would say. Family is so very important.
Thank you so much! Yes, I am so thankful this was mostly before cell phones. We had just good old fashioned fun times. I am thankful that we had so much country to explore. Ken was a tremendous hoot! He was hilarious! And we valued family so much at the same time.
We had sedge fields, pastures, and woods.
@@trixier6505 And that is wonderful to be around and roam through. I am so thankful for the pastureland that we had.
@@WalterMallardPhotography Grew up in Lanett, AL, before it fell. We had fields behind us and across the street. It was remarkable.
This was a sweet video...I love the music you attach to yours vids.
Thank you! I am so glad!
Your videos are always so enjoyable Walter, with stunningly beautiful scenery. Keep them coming, they are such a pleasure to watch 💞
Thank you so much, Lee! I appreciate that!
Did you guys ever place pennies on the train tracks ?
I don't think so. I don't know why we didn't think of it.
When the Ken gang grew up and did their own things I doubt anyone could ever be as good of a Waverly Hall gang as all of you!
Yes! I agree, Jana!
Nice music and great pics 👍🇺🇸
Thank you, Marvin!

Love the old Georgia road pictures! For some reason your pictures of a simpler life reach out and pull at my heart every time I find a new one you put out! And it must be the same for your other regular viewers because the comments are the same! Why your bunch of guys remind me of Robert Redford’s movie, “ A River Runs Through it”. I have told you this before, and I mean it, your capturing those guys lives on tape is the best ! Ken is the Glue that held you all together. We need to see a picture of the guys today on a old bridge on a Georgia dirt Road. Will be waiting to see it!
Thank you so much, Becky! I really appreciate that you feel that way about these videos. And that's interesting about the 'A River Runs Through It' feel. Over the years, in speaking with Brian about our Crowd, I have tried to pin down who we remind me of; but can't really place us. Thank you again, about your feelings about the 'Ken Tapes'. I want to find one that is really a lot of fun and put that up. You are so right about Ken being the 'Glue' that held us together! It was my stories of my childhood with Ken that I told Brian as he was growing up that made it even more special when the four of us began hanging out on weekends. And then those stories being told to little Robert, and then little Robert hanging out with us and growing up with us and experiences his own adventures with us had such an impact on him. I would love to get that Bridge shot of us! Thank you again, so much, for watching, Becky!
I remember riding in the back of my brother's pick up truck. It was amazing, and so much fun. Couldn't do it now though.
Yeah, Sandy! It was just what we did. Brian and Little George were so often relegated to the bed of Ken's pickup trucks.
I like this one no "sexy women".
Ha! Ha! Next time ONLY 'sexy women'! And Ken, wearing a grass skirt!
😊❤
@@gailatkinson1955 Thank you, Gail!
My mom drove a dodge dart. It was yellow with the black top. It was her last car before she gave up driving at I think 89. She lived to be 91. There was a few people who laughed at her buying the dart when she was in her 80s but she loved that car. I told her buy what you want and enjoy it. She did. I pray the turn us doing well and enjoying life . I do hope this heat isn't bother him like it is me. Its been bad here in Florida this year. Thanks for sharing your uncle Ken and his adventures. I do enjoy them. It brings back a lot of memories of the era I grew up in.
Wow! I'm glad she drove to such a late age. Karen loved her Dart. A Dodge Dart Swinger. Ken experienced the heat yesterday (Tuesday July 16, 2024) when a storm knocked out the power for two hours. And he was happy for it to come back on. You're welcome! And I am so grateful that you enjoy Ken and his adventures.
As always, I enjoyed seeing bits of the past. So, what kind of snake was that? Just curious. Not fond of snakes myself.
that was really neat images, seeing the old Byrd farm, your older sisters Karen’s Dart ! I had a nova about the same age drove it for a few years. then I graduated from college and started to make enough money to buy new! caviar 2door then a Bretta GT 5 speed. then a 2000 Pontiac Montana van. worked great for civil war re-enacting . like that shot of you with the snake! that was neat! loved all the cats, they were all so neat looking. but the one cross patch looked like there was a tick on her chin! such wonderful images of your days with Uncle Ken.
Ken had a Nova for awhile, until it caught fire and burned as it rolled down the street in Manchester. Also, it's roof was the white sheet metal from a water heater casing! Ken pop-riveted it to the car to patch holes in the roof. I believe that was a battle wound on Crosspatch.
Love the vintage Christmas tree with the tinsel. We had a late sixties to early seventies Dodge Dart, was maroon with the black top.
@@alanmoberly64 Thank you! I am so unfamiliar with the Dodge Darts, since I didn't even know about them until Karen bought that one. But then we ended up with yet another not too long after. And Robert has his.
short but sweet video..loved the pics and really liked the music.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it.

Thank you, Lee!
What happened to the good ole days 😢🇺🇸
Yeah! Marvin, that is just what I say!
Wow, Karen is a fossil AND she owned a Dodge Dart, lucky girl! ha! How is Uncle Ken? I like you and your friend. I now know where Robert gets his snake admiration. 😊
Ha! Ha! Yes! Paleontologists used to call her! Ken is doing well, now that his two our power outage yesterday (Tuesday 07-16-2024) ended! We had them kind of regularly around.
@@WalterMallardPhotographyHa! Ha! Paleontologists called her! Power outages are tough, its been so very hot too, 97° here last few days. I hope Ken has A/C.

You're welcome, Jo! I am so glad! Yeah, I don't have many photographs of them together. He DOES resemble his Mom! That coffee lid worked great! That car ran great, even after it got banged up! During all of my growing up years, Mom was a Coffee Hound, and it was for Maxwell House Coffee.
I didn't much care for your new little friend, but I don't get to see many pics of you. I did enjoy seeing the old cars of the time on the road. Very smart finding that a Maxwell coffee jar could be used for a gas cap. As always, thanks Walter.
Ha! Ha! Ha! Yeah, that 'gas cap' worked out great! You're welcome, Jana!

Hi Walter must be the mood I’m in tonight Seeing little George knowing now what happened. Cute little Robert and interesting Brian always. I’m sad with tears cuz we were all so innocent back then. We didn’t know any further we just knew today and we were happy. Thank u as always for these wonderful memories Walter. Tell Uncle Ken he is always in our hearts❤❤
I'll tell Ken, Lynda. Yes, you are so right. We were just there, doing our thing. One interesting thing, is that forever for the future, Little George spoke messages to whomever would be listening to the 'Ken Tapes'. He and Brian. Usually it was something hysterically vile. "Yeah, this is George Green, and whoever is listening to this in the future is..." Both he and Brian would together, and separately sneak my tape recorder while it was recording us, and say something vile to 'whoever is listening to this in the future'. Hilariously one of their victims was 12 year old Robert. "HEY!" I send your love to Ken.
