Great Question! Believe it or not its actually not the first time its been brought up. There is technically no right or wrong answer. The engineered plans for this project specify the bolts should point upward as shown in the video. The American Institute of Steel Construction states there is no requirement on the direction of the bolt. As contractors our job is to ensure the building is done according to the engineer plans.

Bolt up red iron structure is customizable, hence, this will be a perfect fit for residential use. We've never worked in Phoenix, AZ, thus, we are unable to recommend one.

That's a great suggestion especially if you'll be DIY-ing your insulation. It may still give the same result but air can still potentially leak as it may not fully cover the seams and small crevices of the building. The material cost is more cost effective but may have higher labor cost because the foam boards must be cut to the cavity sizes and fit in as tight as possible. This may take a week or so depending on the size of the building.

Great information George! Thank you for your comment. The price difference could be due to overhead door openers have a higher demand due to residential homes. Roll Up Door openers are less common.

There is a lot of things that can affect pricing. Depends on area, codes, how building is built, whats included, etc.

@@wolfsteelbuildings my point was wood frame is better especially for insulation. Needs attic to vent properly and heat / cool properly. Steel buildings cost 50% less than post frame to build. Get what you pay for.

We do not price our buildings by sqft like the standard in the red iron industry. We would also need to see your location to verify codes. Another thing is with that size you are typically looking at a bolt up which changes pricing.. Shoot us a message and lets see how we can help you

I’m selling 35 acres outside of Houston

There is a lot of things that influence pricing, like location, codes, how its built, how concrete is poured, style of trussing (example this is a wide span with commercial trussing. Anything wider than a 30' is a wide span). We do appreciate the feedback and insight on pricing.

We have priced out many building options. That size building, with concrete, site prep, insulation, and doors for 101k is a pretty awesome deal.

Full price, material, installation, delivery, taxes, and equipment. Only thing we didn’t include is site prep, approaches, and open cell insulation

Good eye! This is still a tubular frame. We build a bit different than in the industry. We do a single leg up to 12' tall. 13'-14' we do double leg. 15' and up it is a ladder leg. We build like this for wind pressure reinforcement. Essentially creating an I beam like that of a red iron structure. Hope this answers your question.
