    WOW, Thanks for the upload, I knew Jerome . He used to talk about this song and The Furys all of the time. He used to come out to the house to rehearse with some of the oldies doo wop groups from back in the day. What a really great guy, soft spoken, and a team player with the groups . He lived in Rosamond CA with his wife until he passed away.

    I've done numerous searches for anything of Jerry Jackson. Video, or audio. Or photos. While I can't say for sure by this audio, I don't know if there were any other "Jerry Jackson" performers back then but Jesse Duplantis went by the stage name of Jerry Jackson. I've been trying to find any old footage of his band days. In some of his sermons when he starts talking about his salvation story, he mentions performing in the same circuits as Led Zeppelin, Grand Funk... He says he went on stage after receiving Jesus in a hotel bathroom in 1974, he was to do a show that night and was singing (either with, or just the song by) Sly and the Family Stone, and he was supposed to open with "I wanna take you higher" but he says he went on stage and sang "Everybody in this place is goin to hell".... A bio I found elsewhere online said he played in a band called "Spring Winecooler,", again under the stage name: "Jerry Jackson."

    I have almost all of Rex Jr's albums from the 70's and 80's, the one with this song on it, but I don't remember the beautiful piano accompaniment on the album version. That was absolutely beautiful, especially with Rex's voice. Beautiful and heartbreaking song....

    I first heard Larry Bright doing "I Saw Her Standing There" on his 1971 recording and thought he was black! This is really good swamp rock - and yes, he still sounded as thought he could have been black - and it doesn't sound like he's "putting it on," either.

    Charismaticart, Some people may "appreciate" PJ Proby, others dislike him or don't care one way or the other. YOU wouldn't know there were negative comments here if YOU hadn't taken precious time to read them. Why didn't YOU just listen to the video and move on? Are you a self-appointed censor of UA-cam comments? What makes you think PJ's fans appreciate you ordering them around like brainless sheep who can't think for themselves? Afraid negative comments will change their opinion about him?

    P.J. has been stabbed in the back so many times he understandably trusts hardly anyone.He has been helped out financially sometimes,he has also done the same for other people. For the last 20 years he has not touched alcohol & so he's now singing better than ever,looking good & getting plenty of work. Give the guy a break!

  • @rontenn
    @rontenn 11 років тому

    Proby has influenced many singers & groups. But in show-biz there are many selfish people & they will never credit P.J. with anything SO he has to do all the crediting himself.LOL! He's a legend & the equal of Elvis musically.....& twice the character!

  • @rontenn
    @rontenn 11 років тому

    Only you frlsfsdickhead misunderstood me! LOL! You had better keep up with Led Zeppelin news & rumours. It was reported in February this year that Robert Plant said that they would be doing 70 dates in the USA in 2013 & then in 2014 a rest of the world tour. Some of this could happen! Get with it! I don't rate them at all so even tho' P.J. helped launch them I'd not bother attending a show even with a free ticket.
