- Pete Roberts (aka Larry Bright) 1960 release of Hold Me (b/w Twinkie Lee) on the Rendezvous label. Hold Me was a UK hit in 1964 for P.J. Proby. Bright and Proby (known as Jett Powers then) were at one time members of a house band at the Sea Witch, an Eddie Cochran and Sharon Sheeley hangout on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Scrolling through youtube found this today. Thx Pete.
Per Whitburn, "Hold Me" made #1 for Art Hickman in 1920 and there were 3 chart versions in 1933: Hotel Commmodore Orch, Eddy Duchin, Ted Fio Rito. If anyone is interested, I have an article on Larry Bright on the friends of TSO (top shelf oldies) site.
Good M.O.R. version.....P.J. Proby's was the best rocking version of this song ever!!!
Someone called this version "cool"...yeah right!!
