- Rex Allen Jr.'s hauntingly beautiful recording of Lying in My Arms from 1975. Son of the famous singing cowboy Rex Allen, Rex Allen Jr. was a regular on The Statler Brothers Show (aired on The Nashville Network 1991 - 1998) and performed this song on the show. He hosted the spin-off series Yesteryear as well.
Other releases of Lying in My Arms are by Jessica James and Dottsy.
Hit #98 in Australia & #70 on the US country charts in 1975
This happened to come on my MP3 player dock the other day and the person with me said 'Please play that again and who's singing the song?'
Rex Allen Jr is one of the greatest voices to ever grace Country music. Why, I've even forgiven him for not including a name check for Marty Robbins on his 'Can You Hear Those Pioneers!'
lovely lovely song.. the truth hurts but its hard to live a lie...
Good song
I have almost all of Rex Jr's albums from the 70's and 80's, the one with this song on it, but I don't remember the beautiful piano accompaniment on the album version. That was absolutely beautiful, especially with Rex's voice. Beautiful and heartbreaking song....
Wether it is forever or just temporary,i hate goodbyes...
Great song. Love the beautiful and classy music that follows.
@HurtClassic Oh yes!, now I know :) It's only now that I've heard Rex Allen Jr's version :) I was 15 then. Thanks again!

@HurtClassic Now I know it! Thank you! It's only now that I've heard Rex Allen's version :).... Thanks again! By the way is there a song "Just For Her", I'm not really sure of the title but it is an instrumental one similar to Nadia's theme, Benjie's theme and Vera's theme I think. Been wishing I could hear this again... also in the 70's
u are correct
@rvcrose Rex Allen Jr.'s recording is from 1975. Various internet sites that I've found say the Jessica James version was 1976.
