Macedon are one of my favourite factions on DEI, I'm not sure if the other diadoci factions get this but Macedon get 200 man cav general unit which is massive early game

Levy hoplites are a good core early army unit. Large 3rd class, in phalanx they hold their own until your superior calvary smash into the enemies rear

Realistic formation is not work for that formationand... are not that realistic becouse they will recruted in just one round and is absurd when evem most bad legionary are recruted in 2 and nosrmal legion in 4

Finding the mod to be really frustratingly hard. Even on easy every neighbor starts off twice as powerful, they gang up too its ridiculous. You can't even get a chance to get started, it feels like it requires some kind of cheesey exploit to win. I'd tried several different start positions, I'm attacked within a couple of rounds by full stacks of shit that is more powerful than I can even recruit let alone afford...

Great Video! Only thing I would say is you are underselling the Dahae Noble Horse archers for the early game. Their armor means they can shrug off enemy archers while you focus fire them down. They are also pretty fast so they can start back pedaling to stay away from melee/cav while they pepper them with arrows. They are also substantially better for charges/melee as you mop up stragglers not downed by your arrows. All that equates to you can finish battles without retreating to replenish arrows, you lose a lot less units and it's a lot less micromanagement needed as they can take a hit. I consider them a much more well rounded unit and you can get them on turn 6 by upgrading your starting cavlary barracks right away

DEI would be 10x better if the population and food constraints had any impact on the AI. The fact that the AI gets to freely recruit noble units that far outclass my rank-and-file for free until I capture their cities is what makes the mod so "difficult." You basically have to make do against the odds in virtually every battle with mostly levy-tier units and a couple nobles against 10 or more noble infantry/cav in every enemy army. It would be so much cooler if, after a few crippling defeats of their powerful armies, an enemy nation only had levies left to field against you. Would make desperate defensive wars of attrition against larger empires actually possible, instead of needing to constantly crutch mechanic exploits or use overpowered single unit spam to win wars.

Empire maintenance is never a problem late game, just pop some general governors down early game and just let them gain xp through the whole game, once you hit about 80-90 percent EM use all the skill points you have saved up on the lower EM skills, one level four general can get EN down to 6 percent. Always wait until the EM is pretty high before you start lowering it because it’s a percentage based, so if you start lower it at around 50 percent EM the skill that lowers 2 percent EM will only lower one percent in reality. The empire governing type is the best for late game, the increase party loyalty and 2 more edicts are worth it. Plus it’s always nice to create a empire when you have painted half the map

The real reason in the real life not to be a little game, why they're so powerful. It's because imagine 10000 50000 singing of fear.

Pike man are great but they are not that great in offensive battle though, like you have to walk them in a rain of javelins to the enemy and by that time they have lost like 20 percent of their men. Sometimes they don’t even line up right so you have to drag them back and reform them, honestly just use silver shield swords man once the reform is enabled, they are even better swords man than Roman legionnaire

The strongest army in DEI will always be horse archer plus horse archer cataphract units, all horse army have huge campaign map movement rang, pretty much unbeatable one on one against any AI army, they just don’t perform well in sieges, you need like one infantry siege army for walled settlement and the rest horse armies, even though they are not as crazy as Hunnic horse archer spam in Attila but they are still pretty op in DEI. Just don’t bring all light horse archer army, to be effective after all the arrows are gone this kind of army needs at least 5 units of cataohract archers to kill of tough infantry or intercept incoming heavy cavalry
